New Delhi: Ashoka University has taken a significant step in expanding its educational outreach by launching the 'Ashoka Horizons program to empower high school students (grades 9-12) from India and abroad.
As per Ashoka University, this innovative program offers high school students a good opportunity to pursue future-forward micro courses that leading global faculty and industry experts will deliver.
It will help students to build strong confidence in their future academic and career choices, and strengthen college applications. The accredited courses have been crafted to facilitate a comprehensive exploration of various disciplines, 21st-century skills, and general interests.

According to Ali Imran, Vice President of External Engagement at Ashoka University, “Ashoka Horizons is a first-of-its-kind extensive portfolio of live and interactive online micro-courses, specially curated for high schoolers”.
“Based on extensive research amongst students, parents and educators, these 16-hour courses are designed keeping the needs and time schedules of high schoolers in mind. The courses are taught by global faculty and industry leaders, and students get a chance to dive deeper into subjects, skills or interests, building stronger convictions and richer profiles for better college admission outcomes”, he added.
Ashoka Horizons Program 24 Overview
During the upcoming December 2023 to January 2024 period, the Ashoka Horizons program will feature the following courses:
- Psychology: Measuring the Unmeasurable
- Writing & Communication: Crafting Your Story for Success
- Political Science & International Relations: War, Peace, and Drones
- Literature: The World of Romeo & Juliet
- Our Past Through Biomolecules.
Ashoka Horizons program will be presented through live interactive sessions and incorporate a project module to provide students with practical, hands-on experience, surpassing the traditional reliance solely on textbooks.
The curriculum is designed with the limitations of high school students in consideration. It will be available year-round, with each course consisting of approximately 16 hours of content, including 4 hours of live interactive sessions per week (2 hours on both Saturdays and Sundays). Moreover, for most courses, self-study is expected to necessitate no more than 5 hours over the entire course duration.
Ashoka Horizons Program 24 Faculty Members
The Ashoka University course will be instructed by accomplished experts, including Prof. Alok Bhattacharya, Ph.D. from JNU, recipient of Robert McNamara Fellowship (World Bank), Rockefeller Biotechnology Award, and Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize. As well as, Prof. Madhavi Menon, Ph.D. from Tufts University and author of the books 'The Law of Desire' and 'Infinite Variety: A History of Desire in India'.
The faculty for the 'FutureStream' courses come from a diverse array of disciplines, including Astrophysics, Computer Science, Biology, Entrepreneurship, Media Studies, Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, Psychology, and History, among others.
The ‘FutureSkill’ set of courses, such as Writing and Communication, Leadership, Collaboration, Creative Thinking or Well-Being, will be delivered by industry experts.
