This mandatory test is essential for law graduates seeking to practice in Indian courts. Eligibility requires an LLB degree and State Bar Council enrollment; final-year students without backlogs are also welcome.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has opened the registration process for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 20 (XX), 2025. Law graduates and final‐year students who wish to practise law in Indian courts must clear AIBE to get the Certificate of Practice (CoP). The application link is now available on the official website, allindiabarexamination.com.

Passing the AIBE is mandatory to obtain the Certificate of Practice. Without this certificate, law graduates cannot practise in any court in India. To be eligible, candidates must ensure that the Bar Council of India recognises their law college. Final-year students are also allowed to apply, provided they do not have any backlogs.

The application fee for AIBE 20 varies based on the candidate’s category. Candidates belonging to the General, OBC, General-PWD, or OBC-PWD categories are required to pay a fee of ₹3,500, excluding applicable GST and any additional bank charges.

Eligibility Criteria for AIBE 20

Candidates who have completed their 3-year or 5-year LL.B degree from a University or College recognised by the BCI. Final-year students (final semester) without any backlogs are also eligible. Graduates who have obtained their degree but have not yet enrolled with a State Bar Council, or those who have surrendered their enrolment certificate, may also apply.

NOTE: Please note that the passing percentage is fixed at 45% for GEN/OBC Candidates and at 40% for SC/ST and Disabled Candidates.
