Ques. What is the admission procedure for MS colleges in Rajasthan?
Ans. MS admission in Rajasthan is entirely entrance-based. Candidates must clear NEET PG conducted by NBEMS, then register for either All India Quota counselling through MCC for 50% of the seats or Rajasthan state counselling conducted by the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur for the remaining 50%. Seats are allotted across three rounds plus a stray vacancy round based on NEET PG rank, category and choice filling. AIIMS Jodhpur fills its MS seats through INI CET instead, while MS Ayurveda seats at NIA Jaipur are filled through AIAPGET counselling conducted by AACCC. Every candidate admitted to a government PG seat in Rajasthan signs a two-year compulsory service bond at the time of admission.
Ques. Which entrance exams are accepted by MS colleges in Rajasthan?
Ans. NEET PG is the primary entrance exam, accepted at 18 of the 20 MS colleges in Rajasthan, including SMS Jaipur, RUHS CMS Jaipur, SPMC Bikaner, SNMC Jodhpur, RNT Udaipur, and the private colleges in Jaipur and Udaipur. Rajasthan NEET PG State Counselling, conducted by RUHS Jaipur for the Medical Education Department, governs the 50% state-quota seats at those same 18 colleges. AIIMS Jodhpur admits MS candidates only through INI CET, conducted by AIIMS New Delhi, where MS General Surgery closed at rank 578 for General category candidates in 2025. NIA Jaipur admits through AIAPGET for its Ayurveda postgraduate seats.
Ques. Which is the cheapest MS college in Rajasthan?
Ans. AIIMS Jodhpur is the cheapest MS college in Rajasthan with total course fees of INR 6.83 K, a consequence of the central AIIMS fee structure. It is followed by GMC Bharatpur at INR 24 K and SNMC Jodhpur at INR 28.19 K, with RNT Udaipur at INR 35.87 K and JLN Ajmer at INR 41.37 K close behind. Eight government colleges in the state charge under INR 1 Lakh for the full MS course. Private colleges sit in an entirely different bracket, with Geetanjali MC Udaipur charging INR 2.01 Cr and PMCH Udaipur INR 1.97 Cr.
Ques. Is direct admission available for MS in Rajasthan?
Ans. No. Direct admission is not available for MS at any college in Rajasthan. The National Medical Commission mandates that all MD and MS seats, including management quota and NRI quota seats at private and deemed institutions such as NIMS Jaipur, Geetanjali MC Udaipur, PIMS Udaipur and PMCH Udaipur, be filled only through NEET PG merit and centralised counselling conducted by MCC or RUHS Jaipur. Any agent or consultancy promising a guaranteed MS seat without a NEET PG rank is operating outside the law, and such admissions are cancelled by the NMC.

The government group includes AIIMS Jodhpur, SMS Jaipur, RUHS CMS Jaipur, SPMC Bikaner, SNMC Jodhpur, RNT Udaipur, GMC Kota, JLN Ajmer, Jhalawar Medical College, GMC Pali, GMC Bharatpur and NIA Jaipur. The private group covers JNU Jaipur, MGMCH Jaipur, Tantia University Sriganganagar, American International IMS Udaipur, NIMS Jaipur, Geetanjali MC Udaipur, PIMS Udaipur and PMCH Udaipur.
Ques. What is the NEET PG cutoff for MS colleges in Rajasthan?
Ans. For MS General Surgery under All India Quota in 2025, SMS Jaipur closed at 4,883 for General category candidates in Round 3, the toughest NEET PG cutoff in the state, followed by SNMC Jodhpur at 8,697 and SPMC Bikaner at 9,116. GMC Kota closed at 9,366, RNT Udaipur at 10,989, JLN Ajmer at 12,547, GMC Pali at 14,108 and Jhalawar Medical College at 14,324. AIIMS Jodhpur sits outside this range because it admits through INI CET, where MS General Surgery closed at rank 578 for General category candidates in 2025.
Ques. Which is the best government MS college in Rajasthan?
Ans. AIIMS Jodhpur is the best government MS college in Rajasthan with a CD Score of 989, NIRF Medical rank 19 in India, IIRF rank 13 and a Collegedunia rank of 6, and it charges just INR 6.83 K for the full course. Its MS seats are filled through INI CET rather than NEET PG. Among NEET PG colleges, SMS Jaipur is the strongest with a CD Score of 972, NIRF Medical rank 39 and IIRF rank 38, and it has the state's toughest NEET PG cutoff at 4,883 alongside roughly 10,000 daily OPD cases for clinical exposure.
Ques. Which is the best private MS college in Rajasthan?
Ans. JNU Jaipur is the top-ranked private MS college in Rajasthan with a CD Score of 292 and a NAAC A+ grade, offering MS Anatomy at INR 2.07 Lakh, by far the lowest private fee in the state, with an average package of INR 5.5 Lakh and a highest package of INR 27 Lakh. MGMCH Jaipur follows with a CD Score of 290, offering MS Ophthalmology at INR 1.61 Cr. NIMS Jaipur reports the strongest placement figures among the private group with an average package of INR 8 Lakh and a highest package of INR 60 Lakh.
Ques. What are the popular MS specialisations offered in Rajasthan?
Ans. MS General Surgery is the most widely available specialisation, offered at 13 colleges across the state. MS Orthopaedics, MS Ophthalmology and MS Otorhinolaryngology are each offered at 10 colleges, while MS Anatomy runs at 9 colleges and MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology at 8. The Obstetrics and Gynaecology count is lower than it appears because RNT Udaipur, JLN Ajmer and Jhalawar Medical College list the course as MD rather than MS, and GMC Bharatpur offers it as a DNB programme.
Ques. What stipend do MS students receive in Rajasthan?
Ans. MS residents at Rajasthan government medical colleges receive INR 92.47 K in the first year, INR 93.3 K in the second and INR 94.14 K in the third, and Senior Residents after completing MS draw INR 97.16 K per month. AIIMS Jodhpur pays its residents on Pay Level 10 with entry pay of INR 56.1 K basic plus allowances, taking gross pay to roughly INR 90 K. Private colleges pay considerably less, with MGMCH Jaipur and NIMS Jaipur at INR 55.2 K to INR 60.95 K, Tantia University Sriganganagar at INR 30 K, and American International IMS Udaipur reported at INR 20 K, well below the state-mandated rate.
Ques. Is there a compulsory service bond for MS admission in Rajasthan?
Ans. Yes, and it is among the steepest in the country. Candidates taking government PG seats in Rajasthan commit to two years of service in a government health facility, and furnish a surety bond of INR 10 Lakh at allotment that converts at joining into a INR 1.5 Lakh bank guarantee plus an INR 8.5 Lakh bond. The service bond penalty is tiered by specialisation, starting at INR 25 Lakh for pre-clinical and para-clinical branches, rising to INR 50 Lakh for ENT and anaesthesia, INR 1 Cr for General Surgery, Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology, and INR 1.5 Cr for Dermatology, Radio-diagnosis, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and General Medicine. Candidates already serving in Central Government, Rajasthan Government or ESIC service with an existing bond are exempt.
Ques. Is a scholarship available for MS students in Rajasthan?
Ans. Rajasthan has no scholarship scheme built specifically for MS or MD postgraduates, and the monthly stipend is the main financial support for residents. The one state route that genuinely reaches postgraduate medicine is the Social Justice Department's Post-Matric Scholarship, where degree and postgraduate courses in medicine sit in Group I, carrying a maintenance allowance of INR 1.2 K per month for hostellers and INR 550 for day scholars plus compulsory fee reimbursement, subject to a family income ceiling of INR 2.5 Lakh. SC and ST candidates may also apply for the UGC PGSPROF scholarship worth INR 4.5 K per month. The central CSSS scheme is effectively closed to fresh MS entrants because it bars candidates already receiving another scholarship or fee waiver.
