TS ECET 2026, also known as TG ECET 2026 (Telangana Engineering Common Entrance Test), is a state-level lateral entry engineering entrance exam conducted by Osmania University on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE). • Certificate Verification (Phase 1) — June 17–19, 2026: Document verification at designated TSCHE Helpline Centres is open until June 19. What is TS ECET 2026?

TS ECET 2026 stands for Telangana State Engineering Common Entrance Test. The exam is now officially called TG ECET (Telangana Engineering Common Entrance Test), and both names are widely used. TS ECET is a lateral entry engineering entrance exam. It allows Diploma holders in Engineering, Technology, and Pharmacy, as well as B.Sc. TS ECET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for TS ECET, you must check that you meet all the eligibility conditions set by TSCHE. The exam has three eligibility tracks — one for Engineering and Technology Diploma holders, one for Pharmacy Diploma holders, and one for B.Sc. (Mathematics) degree holders.

Eligibility for Diploma Holders in Engineering and Technology

• You must hold a Diploma in Engineering and Technology from the State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET) of Telangana or Andhra Pradesh, or any equivalent diploma recognised by the state government.
• You need at least 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying Diploma examination. For SC, ST, and PH candidates, the minimum is 40%.
• Final year Diploma candidates can also apply, but must produce the marks memo and provisional certificate before the final round of counselling for admission to be confirmed.
• Diploma holders can only seek lateral entry into the B.Tech branch matching their Diploma stream — for example, a Civil Engineering Diploma holder can only apply for B.Tech Civil Engineering. Cross-stream applications are not permitted.

Eligibility for Pharmacy Diploma Holders

• You must hold a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution affiliated to SBTET Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.
• Minimum marks: 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/PH).
• Qualifying TS ECET allows lateral entry admission to the second year of B.Pharmacy programs in participating pharmacy colleges.

Eligibility for B.Sc. (Mathematics) Degree Holders

• You must have completed a 3-year B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects in the group combination from a recognised university in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.
• Minimum marks: 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/PH).
• Unlike Diploma holders, B.Sc. (Mathematics) graduates are not restricted to one stream — they can seek lateral entry into any B.Tech engineering branch, subject to counselling norms.

Minimum Marks Required in Qualifying Exam

There is no upper age limit for TS ECET. Candidates of any age who hold the required qualifying degree are eligible to apply. You must also satisfy the local area candidature requirements defined by TGCHE for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Aadhaar-based eKYC verification is mandatory during the application process.

B.Sc. (Mathematics) graduates can apply for any B.Tech branch. Diploma holders can only seek lateral entry into the branch that matches their Diploma stream. Cross-stream applications are not permitted, and violations result in cancellation of candidature during counselling.

The application fee is non-refundable. Separate late fees (₹500, ₹1,000, ₹2,500, and ₹10,000 in escalating slabs) applied to applications submitted after April 18, 2026.

How to Apply for TS ECET (Step-by-Step)

1. New Registration: Visit ecet.tgche.ac.in and click on the new registration link. Enter your Aadhaar number, mobile number, and email ID. Complete the Aadhaar-based eKYC — your name in the application is fetched directly from Aadhaar.
2. Fill the Application Form: Enter your personal details (name, date of birth, gender, category, parents’ names), contact information, and academic qualifications including Diploma or B.Sc. marks, board or university name, and college name.
3. Choose Your Exam Stream: Select the branch or stream you want to appear for. Diploma holders must select the branch matching their Diploma; B.Sc. (Mathematics) graduates can choose any engineering stream.
4. Upload Documents: Upload a recent passport-size photograph and your signature in the required JPEG format and file size specified on the portal.
5. Pay the Application Fee: Pay online using net banking, debit card, or credit card. The fee is non-refundable once paid.

Top Colleges Accepting TS ECET 2026 Score

TS ECET score is accepted by 179 engineering and pharmacy colleges across Telangana. Admission to all of them happens through the centralised TSCHE counselling. The colleges below are among the most preferred by TS ECET qualified candidates, based on academic reputation, placement record, and NAAC accreditation status.

Government colleges like JNTUH CEH and Osmania University College of Engineering are in the highest demand — seats here fill at very low ranks (typically under 300 for CSE). Autonomous private colleges like CBIT, Vasavi, GRIET, and VNR VJIET are the next tier. Candidates with ranks above 1,500 still have good options in private colleges across Telangana, especially in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and EEE where competition is relatively lower.

Admission to all these colleges through TS ECET is strictly via the TSCHE counselling process. There is no direct admission or management quota for lateral entry seats filled through TS ECET.

TS ECET 2026 Preparation Tips

TS ECET 2026 is now over, but these preparation strategies are useful for TS ECET 2027 aspirants and for Diploma holders appearing in similar lateral entry tests. The exam rewards students with a strong Diploma-level foundation and efficient time management during the 3-hour test.

• Focus maximum time on your engineering branch paper: The discipline-specific paper carries 100 out of 200 marks — the single biggest scoring component. Go through all three years of your Diploma textbooks and cover every topic in the SBTET syllabus. Spend at least 50–60% of your total preparation time on this section. Topics that appear repeatedly in previous years deserve extra attention.
• Build a strong Mathematics base: Mathematics accounts for 50 marks, more than Physics and Chemistry combined. Topics like Matrices, Differentiation, Integration, Differential Equations, and Statistics are asked every year. Practice numerical problems daily and aim for 35–40 out of 50 here. A high Maths score can significantly push your overall rank higher.
• Solve previous years’ TS ECET papers: The exam follows a consistent pattern year after year. Solving the last 5–7 years’ question papers helps you identify high-frequency topics, understand the level of questions, and calibrate your preparation against actual exam standards. Always practice with a 3-hour timer for the full paper.
• Do not neglect Physics and Chemistry: Together these carry 50 marks. Physics questions are largely numerical (Kinematics, Thermodynamics), and Chemistry is formula-based (Electrochemistry, Solutions, Polymers). A focused 2–3 week revision plan using your SBTET diploma books is enough to score 35–40 in this combined section.
• Manage your time effectively during the exam: With 200 questions and 180 minutes, you have about 54 seconds per question. Start with the branch paper where you are most confident, then Mathematics, then Physics and Chemistry. Skip any question that takes more than 90 seconds and return to it in the final review.
• Attempt every question — no negative marking: There is no penalty for wrong answers. Never leave a question blank. Eliminate clearly wrong options and pick the most likely answer. A correct guess scores a mark; a blank scores nothing.
