The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the detailed syllabus for Class 10 Mathematics for the academic session 2024-2025. The syllabus is divided into seven main units, namely, Number Systems, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration, and Statistics & Probability. There are 80 marks in the written exam and 20 marks for internal assessments. Therefore, it has a comprehensive evaluation methodology.

  • As per the syllabus weightage, Algebra is given special emphasis, constituting 25% of the whole.
  • Units like Geometry and Trigonometry, with marks constituting about 30% of the total marks, require students to have spatial and angular concepts in their minds.

  • If a perpendicular is drawn from the vertex of the right angle of a right triangle to the hypotenuse, the triangles on each side of the perpendicular are similar to the whole triangle and each other.
  • The ratio of the areas of two similar triangles is equal to the ratio of the squares of their corresponding sides.
  • In a right triangle, the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides.
  • In a triangle, if the square on one side is equal to sum of the squares on the other two sides, the angles opposite to the first side is a right angle.
