Ques. What is the difference between 2 MBA programs (PGDM and GMP) offered by SPJIMR, Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Shekhar Deshmukh on 15 Mar 23

Ans. he PGCIM program, started in association with the Center of Indo-European Business Studies, co-financed by the European Union Commission - The ESB Reutlingen Track, has evolved over time with the addition of partner colleges from more countries. The program is more focused on International Management / General Management, whereas PGDM is the traditional MBA program offered by SP Jain Institute where you specialize in one of the following: Finance, Operations, Marketing, or Information Management. If you choose PGDM, you will learn more about managing the finances, operations, marketing, and IT for a company. In contrast, GMP teaches you how to handle Business Operations of a company in an international setting, which requires you to learn subjects like International Business Law, International Trade and Finance, and International Economics. These subjects talk about how laws in different countries vary and what needs to be taken care of when doing business with a company from a particular country. In addition, subjects like Entrepreneurship and Management Consulting teach you about the factors that nurture a culture of Entrepreneurship at a country level and the art of facilitation for solving business problems. One significant difference between the two programs is that in PGDM, you make a vast personal network of professionals in India. However, in GMP, you make a vast personal network of professionals across the globe, which is essential for International Business. Your extended network is bigger than you imagine in various ways, such as making a network with the students in the country you go to and your classmates who are your extended network in other countries. If you go to ESB Reutlingen, your primary network is going to be very diverse as Reutlingen University is the most international university in Germany.Read more

Ques. How are the XLRI GMP placements for candidates who came from a non-IT background?

● Top Answer By Shivalika Sharma on 21 May 21

Ans. XLRI is a really good institute to go for. The ethos, culture, and diversity are all enigmatic. One of my friends studying there suggests that you can learn and grow simultaneously.  Placements for non-IT background students are comparatively less. Usually, the domain consultant role is offered. These domain consultants also get a chance to go abroad for further work experience.  Nowadays, companies are also hiring, even being unsure about the candidate’s past work experience. You just evolve as your potential individuality begins to blossom. This is the most significant advantage of being in XLRI.  Academics and case studies are generally the same across the board. The admissions process is a little stringent and filters out the “right” individuals. Placement stats: Categories GMP at XLRI Top recruiters Accenture, Aditya Birla Group, AgroTech, Airtel, Amazon.com, Capgemini, IBM, HCL, etc. Average salary package 19.6 LPA Highest salary package 48 LPA Median salary package 19 LPA Course Fee 20.95 lakh It is not a disadvantage to not be an engineer. A consulting career requires more analytical ability, business awareness, and thought process.  All you have to do is work a little harder to achieve your goals. So, go ahead and start preparing for your career and you'll make it. Ultimately your performance will matter rather than being an IT or a non-IT background.Read more

Ques. What should be preference order of IMT Ghaziabad courses- PGDM, PGDM marketing, PGDM finance, PGDM DCP, PGDM banking, insurance and financial services?

● Top Answer By Dhruv Chatterjee on 25 Jan 23

Ans. IMT Ghaziabad offers a variety of courses that cater to various specializations. These courses have been listed and explained in their order of preference PGDM Marketing/PGDM Full Time (Marketing): This is the most coveted program among IMT students mainly because today its alumni have acquired top positions in big firms. Other major reasons include top-notch faculty, great internship and placement opportunities in terms of role and CTC, IMT’s eligibility, and excellent performances in recognized marketing and strategy B Schools competitions. PGDM Finance/PGDM Full Time (Finance): This one is most suitable for aspirants who are interested in Finance. However, this program offers lesser opportunities than the Marketing program in terms of role and CTC.  PGDM Full Time (Operations): This program offers opportunities similar to that of Finance. But the batch size of PGDM Operations is smaller than PGDM Finance, so it may be easier to secure an internship/final placement, but the opportunities come less compared to Finance. PGDM DCP: DCP or the Dual Country Program is for those who are keen to get international exposure. Compared to an MBA from a foreign university, this program is cheaper and yet offers an opportunity to explore a different culture and learn to make decisions in an international context. This is best suitable for those who are in the Marketing domain. PGDM Banking and Financial Services (PGDM-BFS): This program was launched in 2019 and is relatively newer. It targets the core Banking and Finance sector. While the MBA program aims to provide a holistic view of management, this program solely focuses on Banking and Finance. PGDM Full Time (HR): This is the least taken course and offers very less in terms of opportunities. The courses have been arranged preference-wise so will make it easy for you to choose one.Read more

Ques. Which course in TAPMI is better, the core PGDM, the HRM, or BKFS?

● Top Answer By Divya Kaur on 02 May 23

Ans. What's most important is that you enjoy it. The BKFS program is highly specialized and designed to equip students with the tools necessary to succeed in any financial-related field. The PGDM's first year emphasizes variety over specialization. Two years into the program, you'll have the option to focus on either Marketing, Operations, or Finance. It's up to you to determine the kind of career you want to have. Everything in the new system will be up to the individual, replacing both the major and minor systems. Although the HR course is brand new, it will be just as rigorous and cover the same ground as other courses.Read more

Ques. Is IIM tag really important in the long run? I have a call from NITIE (PGDIM), IIM Shillong and MDI (HR and IB, PGDM is a little waitlisted). What should be my order of preference?

● Top Answer By Sandeep Goyal on 16 Jan 23

Ans. Let me strike off IIM Shillong from your list of preferences. This is because no matter how well it is doing, it can never compare to the older IIMs and the recruiting companies know that very well. Now let’s look at the other two options. NITIE: This option is a feasible one only if you are interested in Operations. I won’t suggest it for any other domain. MDI Gurgaon: From the alumni base to location advantage, this B School has it all. Now that you have chosen your college, let’s discuss the domain you will be choosing. I will suggest you go for HR only if you are seriously passionate about it. If you are confused between HR and Operations, the best option is the IM course. The PGP-IM of MDI, Gurgaon is the best International management course in India. Its USP is its generic nature making it possible for you to start your career in any domain like marketing, finance, Consulting, or product management.Read more
