Course Curriculum Overview

The current economic situation, or, to be more specific, the global economic condition, makes it reasonable to assume that Management graduates are in high demand by MNCs. That is why I took up this course. This full-time program is credit-based. I read core course, stream core course, and did project work as part of this course. In the summer term, I did a live project in a practical aspect. the curriculum was mainly based on highly quantitative and tech-based.

Placement Experience

The highest salary package offered was Rs.39.5 LPA and the average salary of Rs. 26.8 LPA was offered in our final placement program. Flip kart Ltd., Udaan, Walmart Labs, LG, Goldman Sachs, Mercedes Benz R&D, Netradyne, and ZS Associates were some of the brands who gave us the opportunity on the final placement program. From the beginning of this course, the focus was always kept on developing our employability skills.

Course Curriculum Overview

The program equipped us with integrated management, business, analytical skills and knowledge and imbedded the practical application in real organizational situations and helped us develop our potential as managers with mix of leadership, teamwork and knowledge making us assets to hone the future opportunities. Apart from this, the curriculum gave us a USP in the marketplace and hence ensured our career advancement while rooting the ethics through each session. I don't have enough words to praise the faculty department, so I'll just mention that AIMS has been awarded for ?Û÷Best Faculty?Ûª by the Bombay Management Association.

Remarks

The reason why I opted for this university might sound a little weird to some but it is the truth. I only decided to opt for it because my mother is one of the faculty members here and no I didn't use her approach and yes I got selected here on my merits. So, my mother being a faculty here helped me look at this institute from a different perspective as I had the access to the information that was not available on the internet and the education standard here were also pretty high here. I had submitted my application form through the online admission portal of the website along with an application fee for the process.

Course Curriculum Overview

The college is autonomous in nature and hence it follows a trimester pattern of exams. The course is well designed with general management subjects in the first year followed by specific subjects depending on the specialization chosen by the student in 2nd year. A student has a to submit a master thesis at the end of the 2nd year which gives enough opportunity for the student to undertake research.

Admission

I got selected through MAH MBA/MMS CET. Admission is based on merit rank. The most attractive part of taking admission in this college is the infrastructure which is spread across 70 acres of land in the heart of Mumbai. On top of it, great faculty, placement opportunities, live projects, guest lectures and festivals make it a compelling choice.

Campus Life

The Institute is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). VIT is awarded “A Grade” by the Government of Maharashtra. All the faculty members of the Institute are well-qualified and well-experienced in both teaching and industrial area. At present, the Institute provides both UG and PG programs in the different area of Engineering and Technology. It also offers the doctoral level (Ph.D.) program in Engineering field with the specialization of Computer Science and Engineering. Vidyalankar Institute of Technology has a world-class infrastructure with all the modern facilities including a Library, Laboratory, Auditorium, Sports and Canteen.

Remarks

I completely agree with the tagline ‘learn from everything you can see, hear and feel, not restricted to books alone.’ So when you have a particular lesson being taught in class, it’s not just the subject or the chapter alone, its also knowledge being imparted to the students that will help them in their everyday life. Institute does not believe in bookish knowledge or rote learning methods, but understanding a concept, and applying it effectively in any daily chore. Those who are thinking about VIT, go for it. But compare to % level students may try for other colleges also.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college helps in getting internship. At our time in 2000-2002, the general stipend ranged from Rs.2000 to Rs.6000 per month. I received internship with Reserve Bank of India, amongst the best in the finance field. Experience of working was wonderful especially getting to work in the Cooperative Banks department at that time when India was grappling with problems with Cooperative banks such as Madhavpura.

Exam Structure

Exams were held once every 3 months. However, we were graded even on Projects, periodic research etc. Hence, it left us with a hectic and tiring day on most occassion. Only towards the end of the final semester was the study load relaxed a bit because most people were placed by then and required only the basic final examination (including University exams in some electives) required to be appeared.

Admission

It was a centralized exam by the DTE, and I got this college in the CAP round the admission process involved selecting list of top 10 colleges and selecting among them hence it was difficult to get in through the list easily as there was negative marking involved it was tough to score and hence it was a tough year.

Faculty

The faculty of the college was very good but they were not good enough to enlighten management students. They focused more on exams and. marks instead of knowledge and practical knowledge for them academics only mattered the most. Hence it was very difficult for the weaker students to cope up with the admissions.

Placement Experience

Placements were not much provided by the college since our was the second batch of Master of Management studies. But since everyone were so well trained by them that they were able to get a job for themselves without putting in extra efforts. Job opportunities available then were less due to recession but everyone sailed through it comfortably.

Admission

The admission process was simple as described and given by the university which included the following. Merit Lists based on the CET score and the Group Discussion along with Personal Interview.
