Internships Opportunities

Students either find internships themselves or through the contacts of professors. The formal internship as a part of the curriculum usually begins in February However, it is not possible and also not a guarantee that every student will be able to secure an internship through any given professor's contact or recommendation. Therefore, students planning to study here are requested to not completely place their hopes on the contacts of the professors for securing an internship and start searching for them themselves online or through their contacts as early as November/December. Some common internship roles that students get offered include, but are not limited to, Copywriter, Social Media Executive, PR intern, Journalism intern, Photojournalism intern, Digital marketing intern, and corporate communication intern. Paid internships are quite rare to come by. Students are not guaranteed to get employed where they are interning.

Course Curriculum Overview

Most faculty members are Ph.D. holders. As a part of the curriculum, the students are given marked assignments/projects almost every semester. Workshops are organized from time to time with media experts being the hosts or the key speakers. The workshops are usually to keep the students updated about the skills required as per the recent market trends and sometimes they're also about social issues that the students need to be aware of. Occasionally, field trips are organized. The professors are quite approachable when it comes to solving doubts. Passing the exams is surely a cakewalk and given that the preparation for the same is not delayed till the last minute, one can score quite well. Since most of the topics of the course are quite general, one need not worry too much about not referring to the books prescribed by the faculty and can also study the topics from various sources on the internet.

Course Curriculum Overview

I've chosen this course because of the impressive curriculum which has been made exactly on the basis of how the media industry works. Each batch has around 30 students which makes it easier for the students to get along and there's no clutter when it comes to any task. The faculty is well qualified and experienced. All of them have been working in the industry for the longest time and have depth knowledge about every subject. The teaching method is based upon 70:30 which implies the major ratio as the practical work and the rest is the theory part.

Placement Experience

The students get eligible for the internship programs right after the 2nd semester in the master's degree. A lot of renowned organization comes for placement like India TV, Accenture, Radio Mirchi, etc. I have just got enrolled in the degree course so I have not experienced about the same but some of the seniors mentioned that the ratio f students getting placements in the last batch was 8:10. After completion of the degree, I'd like to work for a leading organization and then shall start my own start-up.
