BA (Hons) Anthropology: What is it about?

Anthropology is a combination of two word namely Anthropos and logy which means human and its study. Going by its etymology we can say that Anthropology is a study of human. It deals with the socio-cultural, ecological, biological, and historical study of human growth and development.

The domain and scope of Anthropology as covered under the ambit of BA (Hons.) Anthropology includes its four sub-areas that students would be taught during their three year graduation. These four sub-areas are mentioned below in detail.

  • Physical Anthropology: It covers the study of biological aspect of human beings including their biological evaluation from primates to the adoption, acquiring, and inheritance of various features and disease from the previous generations.

Course Curriculum Overview

For the BA in Anthropology at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, the relevance and comprehensiveness of the curriculum would depend on various factors such as the inclusion of core anthropological theories, methods, and concepts, as well as opportunities for practical application and research. Reviewing the course syllabus, faculty expertise, and feedback from students who have completed the program would provide insight into its effectiveness in preparing students for further studies or careers in anthropology-related fields.

Internships Opportunities

It gives internship to the students with free accommodation and provide weekly stipend. Internship is about of 2 months which gives the absolute knowledge about the subject and what type job opportunities is available after the course.
