Faculty:

The faculty in IISER Kolkata are really knowledgeable, promising in their work and are easily approachable. Exams here are quite challenging for students, scientific thinking is checked. But one can easily answer the question after studying throughout the year. If you will attend lectures than it will be more beneficial because instructor teach us how to think in a better way. So you can score good in exam if you study well.

In first year you have a batch of roughly 240 students and they have class at the same time in same hall so ratio is not so good initially. But for further semesters there are somewhat 1 facility over 40-50 students. There are many faculty members for eg: Prof. Somnath Basu, Prof. Gaurav Shukla, Prof. Golam, Prof. Soumya Bhattacharya, etc which are absolutely finest at their jobs. I haven't met such professor whom I dislike.

i) Faculty to student ratio is quite good like about 1:7. ii) Being a 1st year student I still haven't interacted with many profs but I liked Debabrata Sir of chem and Maths prof Somnath Basu. iii) I personally don't like Earth Science hence I didn't like Gaurav Shukla Sir. iv) There are many exams including class tests, quizes, midsems and endsems. Still now the papers I faced are quite easy some are about class 12 level questions. Marking scheme is just as it is.

Faculties have seperate appartment to live in the campus. Almost professors are quite good scientist. They have done excellent work in their field. You can visit their lab and can experience the amount of knowledge they have. Some professors lack teacher experience beside they are good scientist. Amd some are excellent in teaching the class.

Faculty:

The first two years the class sizes are quite huge. First year it's around 200, second year it's around 100, but third year onwards class size reduces drastically. For the Math department, often the class size is 12-20 people. Exams here are super stressful and really tough. Around 50 people fail/drop out by the second year as it's quite hard to cope with the syllabus. Faculty themselves are good though

Faculty:

The faculties are really quite amiable and more than approachable, well more than engineering colleges i think. The LS1101 instructor, Professor Sumana and PH1101 instructor, professor Golam's pedagogy is absolutely fantastic and quite interesting. There are two primary exams, the midsems and the endsems, and several quizzes and tests which the faculty can conduct either pre-planned or at the spot. The course curriculum is state-of-the art and with par to the foreign courses offered.

The faculties here are all very helpful some of them even go out of way to help students. They're are very approachable as well. I am myself am introvert it's very hard for me to ask questions in the class so we are provided to ask question in office hours or through WhatsApp or emails. For the exams, i would say they are the right amount of level students would need. The course is pretty intresting making learning easier and making exams more fun.
