Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management Catering and Nutrition was established in 1990 and is situated in Chandigarh. The college is one amongst the 21 Institute of Hotel Management or IHMs in the country and offers quality education in the field of hospitality management.

IHM, Chandigarh offers Diploma in Food Production and B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. The institute is part of the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) which is guided by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India.

Candidates who have successfully completed 10+2 with English as a compulsory subject from a recognized higher secondary board are eligible for admission to Diploma and B.Sc courses.
Candidates must appear for NCHM Joint Entrance Examination (NCHMJEE) before applying to B.Sc course.

IHM Chandigarh B.Sc Admission 2024

IHM Chandigarh offers B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration program at UG level. Candidates who have cleared their 10+2 examinations from a recognized higher secondary education board with English as one of the subjects can apply for this course.

Candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria must appear for JEE conducted by NCHMCT. Admissions to the various IHMs take place through counselling conducted by NCHMCT during which they are allotted institutes based on their rank on the merit list.

IHM Chandigarh Diploma Admission 2024

The Diploma in Food Production course is offered by IHM Chandigarh based on the guidelines prescribed by NCHMCT. It is of 60 weeks duration and candidates who have successfully completed 10+2 from a recognized board are eligible for admission. English must be a compulsory subject.

Candidates are shortlisted strictly on the basis of marks obtained in 10+2 examination. Applications are invited through advertisements published in local newspapers in the month of June every year. A merit list is released by the institute post which candidates report at the college premises with required documents.

IHM Chandigarh Application Process 2024

Candidates apply for B.Sc have to register for NCHMJEE through its official website. For Diploma candidates will have to apply directly to the institute.

B.Sc

Candidates seeking admission to B.Sc course must apply online for the All India Joint Entrance Exam conducted by NCHM on its official website.
Candidates must upload their digital signature and soft copy of photograph on the site along with other academic and personal details.
The results of the JEE are published on the NCHM website.
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their 12^th examination marks and JEE score must appear for counselling conducted by NCHM.

Diploma

Applications to the Diploma in Food Production course are invited through advertisements published in leading local newspapers.
The names of shortlisted candidates are released in a merit list published by IHM Chandigarh.
Selected candidates must deposit the first instalment of fee by demand draft in favour of Principal, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management payable at Chandigarh.

IHM Chandigarh Scholarships

The institute offers scholarships to SC, OBC and disabled candidates. The eligibility conditions required include:

Family income should not exceed INR 2,50,00 per annum for SC candidates.
Family income should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum for OBC candidates.
Candidates should not have availed any other scholarship.

IHM Chandigarh Reservation

15% seats are reserved for SC candidates while 7.5% seats are reserved for ST category students.
OBC non-creamy layer students are provided 27% reservation by the institute.
3% seats are reserved for physically disabled and 1 seat is reserved for Kashmiri migrants.

My Experience in BEST Hospitality College

IHM Chandigarh (worth to join)

Admission:

The eligibility criteria is very simple. You need 60% in 10th and 12th and then you have to give a entrance test called NCHMCT-JEE, which held every year in the month of June. The application forms are available on the NTA website. There are reservation facilities for category students. The exams is not that very difficult and it's easy to score.

Admission:

60% percentage in the 12th boards are eligible. Nchmct jee exam to be given for selection, forms can be found on the nchmct site and direct admission has also started now and it's become more convenient to get admission

My First Home away from Home, AIHM Chandigarh

Admission:

i had to take an entrance exam, NCHM JEE whose form i had to fill up in january and gave the exam in april , after the results are in there are 3 rounds of counselling in which i had to fill up my four choice of colleges after which i could see if i got alloted that college based on ranking cutoff or not my pref were ihm pusa, ihm chandigarh and ihm jaipur but i could not get ihm pusa as i got 721 AIR and the cutoff was 680 in first counselling , i was given the choice to apply for second counselling for ihm pusa but for that i had to forfiet my allocation in ihm chandigarh, and after i accepted the chandigarh campus, i was offered choice of hostel based on my AIR the entire process was streamlined and very smooth

Review of one of the best IHM from the perspective of an ex aihmite

Admission:

I clear the NCHMCT entrance exam for IHM. Application fees around that time are 2500 and the form is released in Feb Yes, there is reservation benefits but I don't avail of any reservation benefit. No admission process is good even for fresh batch but only a little problem I face during my time that they don't tell us that we also have to submit counselling fees, so we face a little problem during that time.
