NIFT Kolkata Admission 2024 will be done based on NIFT Entrance Exam. National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata campus is one of the topmost institutes in India. The Kolkata campus offers 6 B.Des. programs and B.FTech. program at the undergraduate level. It also has a postgraduate level program of Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M.) offered to graduate students.
B.Des. program at NIFT Kolkata is offered in six different specializations. National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Kolkata campus accepts applications from eligible candidates through a centralized application process which is common for all campuses. NIFT Kolkata UG Admission 2024
NIFT Kolkata campus is currently offering UG level bachelor’s degree courses in the field of Fashion technology & Design. Under that, they offer specializations in Fashion design, Accessory design, Textile design, Knitwear design, Fashion communication & Leather design. NIFT Kolkata UG Eligibility Criteria
Educational qualification for Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) (B.FTech) Programme and B.Des. should be any of the following:
- The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
or
- 3 or 4-years diploma in any branch of Engineering recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education
or
- A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
or
- Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to a 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
or
- General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB).
NIFT Kolkata UG Selection Criteria
B.Des.
- For candidates to the UG Design programmes, the selection process comprises a written examination comprising a Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT), followed by a Situation Test to be undertaken by shortlisted candidates of the written examination.
- In case of foreign nationals, the candidate must have a valid SAT score for admission in B.Des.
- Students have to appear for the college entrance exam and selection is done through the merit of the exam.
- In case of equal scores at the entrance exam, candidates who are older (by age) will be given the preference.
B.FTech.
- For B.F.Tech. candidates, GAT will be the final test for selection.

NIFT Kolkata PG Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates willing to get admission in M.F.M program must have bachelor’s degree or certificate of 3 years in Design from NIFT or NID.
- Candidates appearing in the qualification exam are also eligible to apply, for that, they just have to show the proof of acquiring the minimum prescribed qualification at the time of counselling.
NIFT Kolkata PG Selection Criteria
- For the M.F.M programme, the selection process comprises Written test comprising a General Ability Test (GAT) followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD/PI) for shortlisted candidates of the written examination.
- In case of foreign nationals, the candidate must have a valid GMAT score for admission in MFM.
GAT (General Ability Test) for MFM is a written test of a total duration of 180 minutes and consists of 150 questions divided among several sections namely Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability & English Comprehension, Analytical & Logical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Case Study.

Admissions to NIFT Kolkata are based on NIFT Entrance Examinations and GD/PI. The aspirants with high performance in the NIFT Kolkata examination get selected for the desired program.

- 10+2 mark sheet/degree mark sheet & certificates –original as well as Xerox.
- Scanned copies of the original certificates have to be submitted on CD/Pen drive.
- Bank draft(s) of requisite fee in favor of ‘NIFT HO’.
- Proof of DOB (10th STD mark sheet/certificate) - original & Xerox.
- SC/ST/OBC-Non creamy /physically challenged certificate.
- Domicile certificate-as applicable.
- Basis of funding of the tuition fee/income certificate of the parents.

NIFT Kolkata Scholarships
NIFT provides 3 main scholarships through the following schemes.
- Educational loan: NIFT has collaborated with Union Bank of India (UBI) for the student’s educational loan facility with 11.75% rate of interest. Students’ belonging from SC/ST, the rate of interest is 11.25%. Even for girls the rate of interest is same as for the students of SC/ST, i.e. 11.25%.
- NIFT means -cum- financial support scheme: NIFT offers limited subsidies to only those students who came in the merit list & who are really in need of financial help under the Means-cum-Financial support scheme. Students who want to avail this scheme, have to fill up the form with the parental income certificate & have to contact to the Student Development Activity Coordinator (SDAC) at the campus, during the time of admission.
- Assistance programme: NIFT also provide assistance through Student Assistance Programme. In this, students get part time job within the campus.

I chose national Institute of fashion technology over other because this is an elite institution run by government of India talking about comparison my course provides a real and an authentic degree on graduation and placemenrs too. For being admitted to this college one need to appear for an entrance exam named NIFT for b design one need to appear for general ability test and creative ability test held on same day if they could pass sone certain cut off then they will have to appear for situation test held approximately one month after the CAT and GAT then the final results are out taking marks in consideration of the three exam one is provided by common merit rank vnd then category rank but for Bftech one need to appear only for general ability test held on same day as b design and the results for thua are announced with the final result of b design

- The faculty is very well experienced here, their teaching methods are very effective and they do guide every child very well.
Dislikes
- The boys to girls ratio is very low in here its 1:10 boy to girl ratio here
- The campus size is very small as compared to other campuses of nift
Admission:
I didn't apply for any other college as i was very much determined to get into this college as this is the best reputed government college to pursue designing. After the declaration of results we have to wait for the counselling process to occur based on rank eligibility. Then preference list is updated after which they release the allotment list where we have the option of upgrading the choice or sliding the choice or freezing the choice. Upgrading means preferring much better course and campus as per preference list. Sliding means much better course in the same campus and freezing means satisfied with the preference alloted. This goes till 4 rounds. Then comes accepting the seat and paying the fee wwhich includes admission fee and semester 1 fees.

- College provide lot of interesting projects like Craft cluster we can take knowledge about other department also with IDM
- We can enjoy lots of activities and festival in college life
Dislikes
- Fees is too heigh, every year Nift increase fee structure
- Scholarship benefits is not for everyone students.
Admission:
All nift campus take entrance exam before the admission process and it is divided in 2 level first level have two text CAT ( creating ability test) and GAT( general ability text) after you closs these level we go for situation text where materials handlling activities held by different campus. Entrance exam was not very hard in NIFT.

- You'll get a lot of assignments and work to do.

Admission:
You have GAT paper. Maths English and gk is majorly from where questions are formed. The paper is of 150 marks . According to your score a rank is given then admission process happen according to your rank campuses are allocated.

You have to sit for the all-India NIFT exam for BFTECH course. You can find the application form on the NIFT official website which is available from the month of Nov-Dec. The examination generally is in the month of February and the results are out by April-May
Admission:
NIFT and NID didn't go to nid. Applied quota as OBC. Minimum marks should be 22 or there are 3 papers for entrance on NIFT like GAT, CAT and Situation test so 1 round is about gat and cat if students qualify for this they pass to situation test. The Counselling was through a zoom meeting where we were provided with an earlier seat availability chart and according to rank students joined and whatever course they wanted was allotted.
Admission:
NIFT is a design school that includes all the fashion aspects. It is under the Ministry of Textiles. The student has to apply for the entrance exam first to get into NIFT. The course is a bit expensive but yet worth it because students get various opportunities in future and also the placements are satisfactory. The faculties here are really cooperative.
Admission:
The college is pretty good with a well-maintained campus. The course is relatively new as compared to other courses. So u have less competition and more chances of growth. NIFT provides you to explore your creative ideas in designing and provides a good mentorship to help you out with your projects and course. The admission process is pretty simple, you have to appear for all India level examination which normally has three round but in 2020 due to pandemic, there were only two rounds and the result was declared on the basis of these two rounds. The third round is a kind of spot round where you have to prepare some 3d models with explanations so that your teacher can evaluate your project properly. NIFT is going to be ranked among top colleges in the coming future as it has a wide scope. So it's better to go for NIFT courses rather than choosing other courses. The student just has to explore his creativity for a bright future in NIFT.
Remarks:
Wanted to do something related to textile Engineer and nift has a good reputation in its textile arena. Bftech provides me the perfect course I always wanted and the scope for good jobs. NIFT is not only a design college but also deals with textile engineering in the name of bftech which attracted me

I wanted to pursue my studies in fashion only. I wasa looking the college in the city kolkata itslef. NIFT was the best option available. The college has very good name in the city. It was worth doing the course from this college.
