St. Joseph College of Engineering (SJCE), Chennai Admissions 2024: Courses, Eligibility, Selection Criteria
St Joseph College of Engineering (SJCE) is situated in Sriperumbudur, Chennai and was established in 1989. St. Joseph’s College of Engineering is a private engineering college which is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.
SJCE offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering and technology. It also offers MBA and integrated MBA. The basic eligibility criteria for UG courses is to have passed 10+2 and the basic eligibility criteria for PG courses is to have a bachelor’s degree.
Admission to the B.E/B.Tech. programs is granted on the basis of the candidates performance in 10+2 followed by TNEA counseling.
Admission to the M.Tech. program is based on the candidates performance in TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) or GATE. Admission to the MBA program is granted on the basis of the score secured in CAT or TANCET followed by a GD and PI round.
The institute conducts its registration process in an offline mode, thus, the candidates have to acquire the application forms from the institute itself.
The college is accredited by NAAC with 'A' Grade. Institute is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by DSIR and DST Govt. of India. SJCE Chennai M.E./M.Tech. Eligibility Criteria
As per norms and guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu/Anna University and AICTE for PG courses.
- Candidates for the admission to the first semester of the Master’s Degree Programme shall be required to have passed an appropriate U.G degree examination of Anna University or any other examination of any University or authority accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University as equivalent thereto
- Candidates will have to qualify GATE or entrance exam to secure admission.
SJCE Chennai M.E./M.Tech. Selection Criteria
- For admission in M.E./M.Tech courses, the candidate shall write an entrance examination designed to test the proficiency of the Candidate in the relevant branch of the UG Degree.
- It is not necessary to write the entrance examination if the Candidate has a GATE/GRE score or score in the examination conducted at All India Level by the constituent statutory authority.
- Admission to the M.E./M.Tech programs by the University shall be on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination and the performance of the prospective Candidate in the Entrance Test.
- Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the common entrance examination (TANCET) conducted by the state and selected candidates are allotted to various colleges for admission. Appearing for the entrance examination for these seats is a must and this entrance examination is conducted by the college on its campus.
- Candidates may also appear directly for admission to the College under Management Quota. Admission forms may be obtained from the college office.

MBA- Candidates have to clear graduation with min. 50% marks are eligible. Candidates will have to qualify the CAT exam to secure their admission.
MBA Integrated- The candidate who wants admission must have cleared class 10+2 or equivalent, as per norms and guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu/Anna University and AICTE for UG courses. with min. 45% marks are eligible to apply. Candidates will have to qualify the entrance exam TANCET 2024 to secure admission.
SJCE Chennai MBA Selection Criteria
- For admission in MBA, the candidates have to write an entrance examination designed to test the proficiency/aptitude of the Candidate on areas determined by the constituent statutory authority.
- Admission to the M.B.A Program by the University shall be on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination and the performance of the prospective Candidate in the Entrance Test, Group Discussion, and Interview.
- It is not necessary to write the entrance examination if the Candidate has CAT/TANCET score or score in the examination conducted at All India Level by a competent Authority.
How to Apply at SJCE Chennai?
Application Procedure
- Application for admission to any course should be made in the prescribed form available at the college along with the prospectus.
- Application forms duly filled-in should be sent to the college with registration fees.
- Applicants from overseas should remit equivalent registration fees by demand draft.
- Candidates seeking admission to the courses should attach the required documents with the application form.
Admission notices will be sent to the selected candidates and such candidates should immediately pay the fees and other charges, failing which the offer of admission will be cancelled and the applicant will forfeit admission and registration fees. A joint declaration by candidate and parent/guardian should be submitted at the time of admission stating that they will abide by the rules and regulations of the college.
- Admission to ME, M.Tech., and MBA is based on the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).
- Students need to register for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA), conducted by the Department of Technical Education of Tamil Nadu.
- TNEA authority will conduct the counselling based upon the ranking in the entrance examination.
- To appear in counselling round students need to register in the TNEA portal.
- The merit list will be prepared accordingly the weightage to percentile obtained by the candidate in TNEA, board exam, choice filling and counselling.
- Students need to appear for the entrance examination - (TANCET), conducted by Anna University.
- Students can visit the official website of Anna University to register themselves for TANCET.

I will choose this college during the tnea counseling period the college was confirmed so I have no other options so I will joined this college. This college hasn't conduct the eligibility exam everyone choose this college using counseling or management quota.Admission process is easy

It depends on the tnea counselling done by Tamilnadu government .The minimum cut off is above 140.It is a tier 3 college .The management quota is also open for students when the board exam results are published.

Admission:
I selected this college through counselling. Based on my cutoff from Plus 2 Exam, I was able to select this college. The admission process was very simple and easy. They just asked about the allotment order which you will get at the end of counselling and explained all the rules and regulations, college timings, food facilities, bus facilities, etc. There was no eligibility for me to choose the course as I already selected my course also during the counselling process. In reception, they'll tell you where the admission process is happening and staff will be there to guide you through the application process, fees, etc. I didn't avail of any reservation benefits.
Admission:
Cut-off should be 190 + then we can get any branches. Mostly IT, mechanical, ECE, EEE in need 190 + cut off. If biotech and chemical engineering mean 180 + cut-off needs. The total seat allocation for one branch is 180 seats. That 80 seats will be merit based on the cut-off, 100 seats based on donation. Donation costs Will change each other based on their cutoff.
Admission:
The first and the foremost thing about our college is food. They provide us Non- Veg for 6 days in a week. Our dining hall is so big. We have separate seating for Veg and Non-veg, and there is a separate dining hall for girls. We have bus routes for every place in and around the city. We have a canteen where we can get bakery items i.e. cakes and puffs and some kinda juice too, to be noted egg puff with a full egg costs only 5rs.
