Sri Venkateswara: 26 Answered Questions

Which college is good Sri Venkateswara College or Acharya Narendra Dev College?

GroovyGuru

I think Sri Venkateswara College is a great choice, especially if you're pursuing a B.Com. The faculty is really knowledgeable, and they genuinely care about helping students understand the material. I've paid around Rs 21,000 for my first year, which is pretty reasonable compared to other colleges.

The campus life is vibrant, with events like Nexus that really bring everyone together. The placement cell is active, and while I haven't sat for placements yet, I've heard good things about the opportunities available, especially with companies like Deloitte and KPMG visiting. Overall, I feel like SVC has a solid reputation and a supportive environment for students.

What is your review of Sri Venkateswara College Delhi University?

CacheCastle

I completed my B.Com. (Hons) at Sri Venkateswara College, and those three years were absolutely fantastic. Known as Venky, this college is top-tier in Delhi University and stands out as the best co-ed option in the South Campus. The faculty is outstanding, especially Dr. Shruti Mathur, who is a gem with her dedication and teaching style, which is quite rare in DU.

The campus life at Venky is vibrant and never boring. The students are energetic, and with Satya Niketan market right across the entrance, you have a lively spot way better than North Campus. Having done my M.Com. there, I can say this confidently. The area is packed with popular spots like Hudson Lane, and you can grab tasty momos just across the street. You’ll find places like QDs, BYD, Pizza Hut, Keventers, and 34 Chowringee Lane nearby, though the college canteen is just average.

The cultural fest, Nexus, is a big highlight and attracts large crowds each year. It always offers something exciting and is one of DU's top cultural events. There are plenty of opportunities to explore your talents with various societies like Dance, Commerce, Fine Arts, and Music. The college also boasts good sports facilities, particularly for cricket.

Getting around is super easy now with the metro station nearby. You can reach any part of Delhi quickly. Areas like Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Rajouri Garden, South Extension, Vasant Vihar, and Gurgaon are just about 30 minutes away. Connaught Place and Saket are also within easy reach.

After experiencing life at both North and South Campuses, I can say my time at Venky was truly special. Trust me, coming from someone who has lived at both, being a part of Venky is unbeatable.

How is a students life like at Sri Venkateswara College at DU?

GildedGoat

Life at Sri Venkateswara College in DU can be summed up as disciplined with lots of fun and great company. The teachers are really kind and helpful, and while there isn't much peer pressure, they do emphasize attending classes regularly.

When it comes to extra-curricular activities, Venky is bustling all year round. There's almost always an event happening each month, and joining one of the societies is definitely worthwhile. You'll enjoy collaborating with seniors, so if you're interested in any society, make sure to seize the opportunity to join.

It's definitely one of the top colleges in South Campus, with lots of space and open grounds. The canteen might not be the best, but the food spots at Satya Market are always reliable.

As for the people, you'll meet a diverse mix at Venky, with a generally nice crowd. I had one of my best years there, and I'm confident you won't regret choosing this college. Wishing you all the best!

Which is better DRC or Venkateswara?

PixelPonder

Sri Venkateshwara College is definitely the better option here.

Campus: This college boasts a lovely, lush campus that's perfect for nature enthusiasts.

Crowd: Since DRC is an all-girls college, you'll find only female students there. So, if you're specifically looking for an all-girls environment, DRC is the way to go.

College Reputation: Venky is often regarded as one of the premier colleges in DU, sometimes even dubbed the SRCC of the South Campus. So, in terms of reputation, Venkateshwara is a solid pick.

What do you know about Sri Venkateswara College DU?

DazedDaisy

Sri Venkateswara College, also known as Venky, is a well-respected institution in Delhi University, especially known for its programs in the sciences and humanities. I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences here. The curriculum is quite comprehensive, covering essential topics like botany, zoology, and chemistry, which prepares us well for further studies or careers in research.

The teachers are friendly and supportive, and they really help us grasp complex concepts. The exams are held every six months, and they are manageable if you keep up with the lectures. Overall, I enjoy the environment here and the opportunities available.

I am planning to study at Sri Venkateswara College New Delhi. Could you guide me regarding finding a suitable accomodation nearby?

FolderFacade

If you're thinking of studying at Sri Venkateswara College in New Delhi, here's some advice on finding a place to stay nearby.

Satya is a good spot to check out for rooms. It's best to start looking before July 8-9 to have more choices. You can find a flat for three people costing around 15-20k in total, not counting electricity but including water. Furniture might or might not be included.

There's also the option of a PG where two or three people share a room, costing about 5-7k per person. This might include electricity, but sometimes it doesn't.

For budget-friendly areas, consider these:

  • Munirka: You can find a single room for 5-7k a month. It's a bit shabby but has a direct bus connection that takes 15-30 minutes. They also have reading rooms open all day.
  • Jia Sarai: Similar room prices at 5-7k per month, and it looks nicer. It also has a direct bus connection taking 15-30 minutes and 24/7 reading rooms.
  • Naraina: Here, you can find a flat for 3-4 people for under 10k. The bus ride is about 20-40 minutes.
  • Palam: I don't know much about it, but it's supposed to be a decent area.

For female students willing to spend around 15k a month, including meals, Anand Niketan is a good option. It's on the same road as Venky, about a 15-minute walk away.

Best of luck with your search!

What are some bits of advice for freshers at Sri Venkateshwara College Delhi University?

ModemMayhem

First off, congrats on making it into Sri Venkateswara College, also known as Venky. You're in for a great experience that's worth your college years. There aren't any strict rules for newcomers, but here are a few tips you might find useful.

When you start college, try to make it a routine to come to campus often. I don’t mean you have to be in every class, but being at college regularly is important. If you don't get into this habit early on, you might struggle to show up throughout your three years here.

Make friends from different departments. Trust me, having friends around is key to enjoying your college years; otherwise, it might get a bit dull.

Venky is known for its lively societies and clubs. Audition for as many as you can. Joining these will help you grow and offer lots of learning opportunities.

Take advantage of the library since it's packed with books of all kinds. Hopefully, they'll have AC installed this year, too.

Don’t box yourself in. Explore every part of college life. Dive into student politics or skip a few classes to catch a movie with friends.

Avoid getting into trouble with your teachers, as it might not end well for your grades.

Connect with seniors and especially the top students in your department. They can be a big help with notes and academic guidance.

And finally, don’t miss out on trying the Masala Dosa at the college canteen. It's delicious and budget-friendly, something you won't easily find elsewhere.

What are the disadvantages of studying at Sri Venkateswara College or Ramjas College Delhi University DU? Which college is considered better and why?

BinaryBird

Studying at Sri Venkateswara College for my Bachelor of Arts in Economics has its fair share of downsides. First off, the curriculum can feel quite outdated. While it covers essential economic concepts, there’s a lack of emphasis on practical applications and modern issues like data science, which are crucial in today’s job market.

Additionally, the pressure from frequent exams and assignments can be overwhelming, leaving little room for deep understanding. The placement cell does work hard, but the average package is around 6 to 7 LPA, which isn’t great compared to some other colleges. Overall, while it’s a decent college, there are areas that definitely need improvement.
