SIBM MBA FAQs
Ques. Why is SIBM Sudumbare's location particularly advantageous for MBA-Operations Management students?
Ans. SIBM Sudumbare is located in the MIDC Chakan industrial belt, which is one of the largest industrial zones in Maharashtra, housing hundreds of manufacturing, automotive, engineering, and logistics companies including Volkswagen, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra, Tata Motors, and numerous Tier-1 and Tier-2 auto component suppliers. For MBA-Operations students, this location is a direct gateway to internships, live projects, and campus placements in core operations, supply chain, and production management roles. Students can visit factories, attend industry events, and build professional networks with operations managers and supply chain professionals in the immediate vicinity of the campus.
Ques. Is MAH-MBA/MMS-CET mandatory for admission to MBA-Operations at SIBM Sudumbare, or can I apply with CAT/MAT scores?
Ans. MAH-MBA/MMS-CET (MAHCET) is the primary and mandatory exam for admission through the CAP (Centralized Admission Process) in Maharashtra, which covers the majority of seats at SIBM Sudumbare. If you have a valid CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, or ATMA score, you may be considered for institute-level or management quota seats (against CAP vacancy), but these are limited in number. For the best chance of admission, it is strongly recommended to appear in MAHCET. The second attempt for MAHCET 2026 is scheduled on May 9, 2026, so students who missed the first attempt can still register.
Ques. What is the total fee for MBA-Operations at SIBM Sudumbare, and will the fee change for the 2026-27 batch?
Ans. The FRA-approved total fee for AY 2025-26 is Rs. 86,000 per year for Open category students, making the total 2-year fee Rs. 1,72,000. This includes tuition fee (Rs. 76,855) and development fee (Rs. 9,145) per year. The college has proposed a revised fee of Rs. 1,04,103 per year for AY 2026-27, which is pending FRA approval. Students joining in 2026 should confirm the final approved fee at the time of admission. Reserved category students (OBC, SC/ST, SEBC, etc.) are eligible for significant fee concessions or full waivers as per government norms.
Ques. What roles and companies recruit MBA-Operations students from SIBM Sudumbare?
Ans. Given the college's location in the MIDC Chakan industrial belt, the primary recruiters are manufacturing, automotive, and logistics companies. Past recruiters have included companies like Lear, Tata, Mahindra, and HP. MBA-Operations graduates are typically hired for roles such as Operations Executive, Supply Chain Coordinator, Production Planner, Logistics Manager, Quality Assurance Executive, and Warehouse Manager. The placement rate for MBA students is approximately 60-76%. Operations Management is one of the most in-demand specializations in the Chakan-Talegaon industrial corridor, giving students a strong local placement advantage.
Ques. Is MBA-Operations Management suitable for engineering graduates, and does it require prior work experience?
Ans. MBA-Operations Management is highly suitable for engineering graduates, particularly those from mechanical, industrial, production, or manufacturing engineering backgrounds. The combination of engineering knowledge and operations management skills is highly valued by manufacturing companies. Prior work experience is not mandatory for admission, but students with 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing or supply chain roles may find the curriculum more relatable and may have better placement outcomes. Fresh graduates from engineering backgrounds are also well-placed to pursue this specialization.
Ques. What is the difference between MBA-Operations and MBA-Supply Chain Management? Does SIBM Sudumbare offer both?
Ans. SIBM Sudumbare offers MBA with Operations Management as a specialization under the SPPU curriculum, which covers both operations and supply chain management as integrated subjects. The SPPU MBA-Operations curriculum includes dedicated subjects on Supply Chain Management, Logistics, and Procurement alongside core operations subjects like Production Planning, TQM, and Project Management. A standalone MBA in Supply Chain Management is not offered as a separate specialization at SIBM Sudumbare. Students interested in supply chain careers can pursue the Operations Management specialization, which provides comprehensive coverage of both domains.
