Overview of GIM , GOa

Likes

CAMPUS quality is really great and many beautiful views can be observed from campus
Sporting facilities are there , almost all kinds of sports court are there in campus which you think of playing
MESS food is really great here with variety of food served to the students

Dislikes

Cost to study is high , in 2023 batch almost 25 lakhs is the expenditure in 2 years
Located far from main city hence always have to rent a vehicle
GYM is small here in campus and library too can be bit large in size

Placement Experience:

for final placements students from the fifth semester become eligible and for the SIP program after 3 trisemesters you can take part in sip recruitment. A large number of companies visit the campus for both SIP and Final placements. 100% of placements are there in GIM in all courses. My plans are to work in a Big firm and complete my CA course

GIM campus life - The campus life is just great in GIM as a lot of extra curricular activites are offered here which in real expand the horizons of the students , also these activities build a good networking enviroment as well.
Mess food - GIM's mess food literally breaks all kinds of streotypes of mess food , The mess food has a lot of variety along with healthy Gym food as well .
Teaching method of professors which is generally question based is just great and every faculty of GIM ask a lot of questions from the students which eventually compels the student to do due research on the class topic .

Dislikes

GIM fee is somewhat on a higher end according to me , I believe that it can be on a slight lower end .
As GIM campus is located on a remote location so access to regular market is somewhat difficult , we have to rent a vehcile from campus to access the local market .
Signal connectivity is somewhat weak here , the students mainly depend on hostel and class wifi for the work . Mobile signals are fluctuating around the campus .

Placement Experience:

After completing three trisems students become eligible for the summer internship program and in 5th trisem the final placement takes place. GIM BDA program has a 100% placement record and for a batch of 120 students around 40-45 companies participate in the recruitment process. In BDA the highest CTC offered in the 2021-23 batch was 42 LPA and the lowest was around 14 LPA, In BDA generally the roles offered revolve around data analyst, consultant etc. My plan after getting a degree from GIM is to first gain 4-5 years of industry experience and then start my own consultancy firm.

GIM at a Glimpse

Likes

Campus and hostel facilities : Campus is greatly built and has number of facilities which gives a very diverse learning experience.
Teaching method: Two way Interaction is strictly followed hence making it compulsory to interact with faculty.
Course curriculum of BIFS as it has all modern tech subjects like blockchain , Phyton for finance apart form core financial subjects

Dislikes

Cost to education is slightly on a higher note
Location can be problem to some of the student because its 50Km away from main city
Size of campus is really huge hence you have to walk a lot

Placement Experience:

So after completing 3 trisem students have to go for a Summer internship program of 16-21 weeks in the BIFS program and after that final placements are scheduled. GIM BIFS has 100% placement records for all 60 students of the batch in both SIP and final ones. The highest package in BIFS was INR 27 lakhs and the median for the batch is 14.5 Lakhs and a decent no. of students got an offer of more than 18 lakhs. Roles are offered in various domains like Risk management, Financial Analyst, and Consultant Asset management. overall companies onboard offer decent quality of roles to BIFS students. My future plan is to get a good job from college after my degree as of now.

Life at Goa Institute of Management

Likes

One of the things I liked is the diversity of students maintained. There are students from different backgrounds, with different undergraduations, freshers as well as having some work experience
Another thing I liked is the amenities available in the campus like swimming pool, badminton court, gym, etc.
The pedagogy of teaching is great. The faculties use case study based approach so the students get a wider perspective of all the things and better learning.

Dislikes

Sometimes there are issues with certain committees and clubs which are not handled in a proper way. This can be improved.
The taste of the food is not up to the mark.

Placement Experience:

The college ensures 100% placement. The students become eligible for campus placements from the 5th semester. The batch that passed this year showed 100% placement as well with some huge companies like Microsoft, Johnson and Johnson, Reliance, HDFC Bank, etc.

GIM - A rollercoaster experience

Placement Experience:

GIM being in the Top 30 B schools around India has a very good placement record. In the previous year, the highest package went up to Rs. 37 lakhs and the average package for the batch was around Rs.18.67 lakhs. This makes the ROI for GIM very attractive. Big brands visit the campus such as ITC, P&G, Google, etc. GIM has a record of getting 100% of its students placed. The placement process starts in the first half of the second year.

GIM for Post graduation, is a reliable option

Placement Experience:

We get 100% placements for all students. The placement cell is very active and efficient. BFSI, IT, Data Analytics etc are some top industries from where companies come. The highest package is 20 lakhs per annum, and the average package is 10 lakhs per annum.

GIM & ME

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because the course curriculum was inclined towards the requirements of the current industry. Faculty and students in GIM are in the ratio of 1:18 but it doesn't feel hard at all to approach any faculty. They are available 24*7 for doubts and any personalized advice. We have a trimester system and recently we had our first midterm and it was pretty decent in terms of difficulty level but the time given was a bit less

Amazing College

Placement Experience:

We're eligible for our Summer internship project in the first term itself. For a better idea, I recommend checking out the Goa Institute of Management website itself. You'll get a much better idea from that.

The college provides you with great placement opportunities considering its one of the premier management institutes. 98% overall placed with the highest package of 25.6 LPA and average is 11.4 LPA. 18% converted from SIP to PPO and the companies coming on campus are Aditya Birla, arcisium, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, Flipkart, crisil.

Great platform to transform yourself

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very good and faculties are also very qualified. I choose BDA because of its value in the market and my interest area. BDA of GIM is even beating it's flagship course in terms of placements. But the thing is you have to come prepared before coming to B-School. In term-1, there will be basic subjects only but companies coming for summer internship will expect more from you. So, my advice would be to invest the time students get in between admission in B-School and joining the B-School in improving their skills sets.

To rate a specific school, there are five parameters to be seen -

Faculty & Curriculum - The curriculum at all the B-schools is more or less similar. The difference lies in the type of faculty. The faculty-student ratio at GIM is 17:1 and the faculty is undoubtedly flattering.

Peer Group – The cut-off for GIM’s CAT and XAT is nearly 85-88 marks. This attracts students who have a lot of talent and potential and belong to different backgrounds. The age barrier is not much for GIM as well. Therefore, GIM provides one of the best peers for further studies.

Infrastructure – Goa Institute of Management has one of the best campuses across all West India and it is considered as the state of the art.
Industry Interaction and Placements – The college offers an average package of almost 9.5 lakhs and the highest package goes up to 25.6 lakhs and that is why the placements seem satisfactory.
Alumni -With alumnus settled in different industries with different portfolios, the Goa Institute of Management is considered satisfactory in this aspect too.
Other Factors – Goa Institute of Management is accredited by AACSB and it also has an international exchange program collaborated with the University of Antwerp, Warsaw University of Technology Business School, Poland and Hochschule, Germany.

GIM also offers an internship which is in collaboration with the University of Antwerp. It is called The Joint International Internship Seminar (JIIS). The intensive Joint International Internship Seminar is a two-week program. This program is held every year in September.

Students that belong to Belgium and those of GIM work together on the practical projects in Goa. The program gives an opportunity to the students to have a work experience

GIM also has foreign language courses for its full-time students. These courses are offered in French, Portuguese, German, and Spanish. They are offered in collaboration with Alliance Francaise De Goa, Instituto Camões, Panjim and Indo–German Educational and Cultural Society and Communicare, Goa respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that GIM is one of the best Tier 3 colleges in India.
