Remarks

The admission to GIM happens in two phases. One is where candidates are shortlisted and called for WAT/PI-based on their profiles. Once they fulfill all said parameters and have relevant work ex with a minimum CAT Percentile of 85%, they are extended admission. In the other phase, candidates are first shortlisted based on their CAT percentile, then the WAT/PI happens, and based on how many students are left after giving admission to profile-based shortlisted students, these candidates are further extended the admission. GIM also considers XAT scores for the purpose of providing admission to its students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is well designed and considers the interest of students coming from different backgrounds. The faculty to student ratio is 1:20 and almost 70% of the faculties hold a Ph.D. degree or have 6-7 years of industry experience. More than 50% of the faculties are attained with both of these. This gives students a great learning opportunity and application-based study approach

Internships Opportunities

5

Under the PGDM program at GIM, the students have to do an 8-week internship compulsorily. The recruitment process for the same starts during the first half of Year 1. It starts with the process of CV making and verification, post which companies start coming into the campus and shortlist students based on their respective requirements. The average package provided to students is Rs. 2.3 lakhs for a period of 8 weeks and the lowest package was around Rs. 30000. 100% of the students got placed into their summer internship this year.

Placement Experience

5

GIM being in the Top 30 B schools around India has a very good placement record. In the previous year, the highest package went up to Rs. 37 lakhs and the average package for the batch was around Rs.18.67 lakhs. This makes the ROI for GIM very attractive. Big brands visit the campus such as ITC, P&G, Google, etc. GIM has a record of getting 100% of its students placed. The placement process starts in the first half of the second year.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for 2 years of the MBA (PGDM) program is around Rs. 17.5 lakhs. Much lower as compared to other similar colleges. There is ideally a fees hike of 3-4% per year based on the inflation in the country. The college also provides assistance to students looking for educational loans through their partner banks. They also have a scholarship program for students, the details of the same are rolled out at the college level during the 2nd half of the 1st year.

Campus Life

5

The campus is situated at one of the prime locations of Goa. It foresees the beach directly because of which the weather and wind stay very pleasant all the time. Because of the city, it is located in, the inflow of tourists is high leading to a good amount of eateries for students to visit.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel building of the college is available in one of the blocks of the campus. It is divided into different divisions respectively for boys and girls. Each student has to compulsorily stay in the hostel only because of which a fee of around Rs.20000 is already included in the admission fees. The hostel is well maintained and cleaned on a regular basis. The food at the mess is maintained by a reputed caterer with special food menus for the students during the weekend.

Interview Experience

4.5

The admission process at GIM is very simple. It shortlists the students in the 1st phase of admission based on their profile. i.e. the years of work ex, significant PORs, contribution to co-curricular activities overall, etc. After shortlisting the profiles, they call in their students for a WAT/PI process. This entire procedure happens around December before the results of CAT are announced. After taking a cumulative score of this, they consider the CAT/XAT percentile which is given a smaller weightage in this case. And the give-out calls for admission. Their phase 2 is similar to the process followed by any bschool. CAT Exam-CAT % tile-based shortlist-WAT/PI-Call for applications based on the number of seats left.

The placement record has been 100% for years now. The SIP process begins in the first year and final placement process starts in the early-middle of second year. The highest package went upto 55 Lacs last year, lowest was around 12 Lacs. I plan to take direct placement from the college and start my corporate career.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very good and faculties are also very qualified. I choose BDA because of its value in the market and my interest area. BDA of GIM is even beating it's flagship course in terms of placements. But the thing is you have to come prepared before coming to B-School. In term-1, there will be basic subjects only but companies coming for summer internship will expect more from you. So, my advice would be to invest the time students get in between admission in B-School and joining the B-School in improving their skills sets.

Goa university department of management and studies is very good college for the student who was polish there knowledge through help of faculties who are expertise in there own field. It definitely help to grain more knowledge and improvements of skill but only major thing issue is of placement. There has been not proper placement over the years which should be given priority and introduction of new companies for placement should be brought. Also campus should be focused more and should be improve to some extent.
