RNSIT: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 14 Reviews

Admission to this college is possible through KCET, COMEDK, or management quota. KCET is the most affordable route with government-set fees at 45,000 INR plus a college fee of 20,000 to 30,000 INR. COMEDK fees range from 125,000 to 130,000 INR, while the management quota is costlier, ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 INR. A four-year education averages around 500,000 INR, with tuition fees depending on the course. Computer and information sciences may cost 7-8 lakhs, while core branches like civil and mechanical might cost 2-3 lakhs.

Annual fees for students entering through entrance exams can be about 1 lakh. The college is renowned for its quality education and robust faculty support, particularly in civil engineering. The faculty-to-student ratio is favorable, and teachers provide comprehensive materials and support. While the commerce department is less impressive, overall teaching quality is high. Placement opportunities are strong, especially in IT and management, with a placement rate of 70-80%. Students can participate in placements from the 6th or 7th semester.

Companies like TechGiant and Construction Enterprises Ltd. offer packages ranging from 4 to 15 LPA, with the highest reaching 50 to 70 LPA. Civil and mechanical students have fewer opportunities, but internships offering 8,000 to 20,000 INR per month are available. The college aids in securing government and trust scholarships, with annual awards up to 20,000 INR for eligible students. However, scholarships are not available for those admitted via management quota.

Hostel fees, including meals, can be up to 90,000 INR. Management courses are pricier, at 2 lakh INR annually, which may be prohibitive for middle-class students.

RNSIT BE Civil FAQs

Ques. What is the fee for BE Civil Engineering at RNSIT for a KCET student?

Ans. For students admitted through KCET (CET quota), the annual fee for BE Civil Engineering at RNSIT is approximately Rs. 1,10,619 per year, which includes tuition fees of Rs. 69,214, college and other fees of Rs. 34,350, and VTU fees of Rs. 7,055. Over 4 years, the total comes to approximately Rs. 4.42 Lakhs. This is significantly lower than the Management Quota fee. Additionally, if your CET rank is 3000 or below, you are eligible for a full tuition fee waiver under RNSIT's merit scholarship scheme, bringing your effective cost down further.

Ques. Is Civil Engineering a good choice at RNSIT, and what are the placement prospects?

Ans. Civil Engineering at RNSIT has a relatively smaller batch size of 60 seats, which means more personalized attention from faculty. The department has experienced faculty with M.Tech and PhD qualifications. However, placement opportunities for core civil engineering roles are fewer compared to IT branches. Companies in construction, infrastructure, and real estate do visit the campus, and students have reported packages ranging from 4 to 15 LPA for civil engineering roles. Many students also pursue government jobs (PWD, BBMP, KPWD) or higher studies (M.Tech/GATE) after graduation. The highest package reported across RNSIT in 2025 was Rs. 50 LPA (across all branches).

Ques. What is the difference between KCET quota and Management quota fees at RNSIT for Civil Engineering?

Ans. Under KCET quota, the annual fee is approximately Rs. 1,10,619 (government-regulated), while under Management Quota, the annual fee is Rs. 1,10,000 for 2026-27 as per the official RNSIT admissions page. Interestingly, for Civil Engineering specifically, the Management Quota fee is comparable to or even slightly lower than the CET quota fee in some years, unlike other branches where Management Quota is significantly higher. However, Management Quota students are not eligible for government scholarships like SSP, which can make the effective cost higher for eligible students.

Ques. What is the Survey Camp in RNSIT Civil Engineering, and is it mandatory?

Ans. The Survey Camp is a unique practical training activity conducted between the 5th and 6th semesters for BE Civil Engineering students at RNSIT. During this camp, students survey the entire college campus using surveying instruments and prepare detailed drawings using AutoCAD. It is a mandatory part of the curriculum and is highly valued by students as it provides real-world exposure to surveying techniques. Students have specifically highlighted this as one of the best learning experiences in the program, as it bridges the gap between classroom theory and actual field practice.

Ques. What are the hostel facilities at RNSIT, and how much does it cost?

Ans. RNSIT provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls on campus. The hostel fee is approximately Rs. 1,40,000 to Rs. 1,50,000 per year, which includes accommodation and mess (food) charges. Rooms are typically 4-sharing with attached bathrooms. Facilities include 24/7 Wi-Fi, power backup, washing machines, and regular room cleaning. The mess serves predominantly vegetarian meals. Hostel is optional and not mandatory. Students who prefer more flexibility often opt for nearby PGs, which are available in the Channasandra area at rents ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 12,000 per month.

Ques. Can a non-Karnataka student get admission to BE Civil Engineering at RNSIT?

Ans. Yes, non-Karnataka students can seek admission to RNSIT through COMEDK UGET or JEE Main scores under the Management Quota. KCET is primarily for Karnataka domicile students. Non-Karnataka students admitted through COMEDK or Management Quota need to submit a Migration Certificate along with other documents at the time of admission. Note that government scholarships like SSP are available only to Karnataka domicile students, so non-Karnataka students will need to bear the full fee. The COMEDK UGET 2026 exam is scheduled for May 9, 2026, and counselling is expected from June 9, 2026 (tentative).
