GCOEA B.Tech Admissions 2025

The admission process for B.Tech and B.Tech (Lateral) courses at Government College of Engineering, Amravati (GCOEA) is managed through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra. GCOEA offers B.Tech in Electronics & Telecommunication, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Instrumentation Engineering

Course Specialisations Eligibility
B.Tech Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering 10+2
B.Tech (Lateral) Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering 10+3

For B.Tech, candidates need 10+2 with 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and a valid MHT CET or JEE Main score. B.Tech (Lateral) requires a Diploma in Engineering/Technology or B.Sc. degree with 45% marks (40% for reserved categories), with admissions based on diploma merit.

The process begins with CAP registration on the DTE portal (mahacet.org), where candidates submit personal, academic, and entrance exam details, upload documents (10th/12th/diploma mark sheets, entrance scorecards, domicile, caste certificates, etc.), and pay the fees. JEE Main candidates have to pay, MHT CET candidates are exempt). Candidates then select GCOEA and preferred specializations during choice filling.

Seat allotment is merit-based, considering entrance scores (B.Tech) or diploma marks (Lateral), followed by document verification at a Facilitation Centre. Post-allotment, candidates confirm admission by paying fees to GCOEA and submitting original documents..

GCOEA Admissions 2025 FAQs

Ques. Which course specialisations in B.Tech can I get into at GCOEA with a JEE Mains rank of 150,000?

Ans. With a JEE Mains rank of 150,000, admission to B.Tech specialisations at Government College of Engineering, Amravati (GCOEA) is possible for some branches, but not the most competitive ones. GCOEA offers B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Instrumentation Engineering. Based on 2024 cutoffs for the EWS HS quota (ranging from 60.62 to 94.9 percentile), Computer Science (94.9 percentile, ~50,000 rank) and Information Technology are unlikely. You may qualify for Mechanical (60.62 percentile, ~150,000–200,000 rank), Civil, Electrical, or Instrumentation, as their cutoffs are lower.

Ques. How does the B.Tech Computer Science course at GCOEA compare to other computer science engineering UG courses in other colleges?

Ans. GCOEA’s B.Tech Computer Science has 60 seats, costs INR 2.43 Lakh total, and requires MHT CET (cutoff ~94.9 percentile for EWS) or JEE Main. Median salary is INR 5 LPA (2023-24), with recruiters like TCS, Wipro, and Amazon. Other colleges like G.H. Raisoni offers similar programs with higher fees (INR 1.36 Lakh/year) and top packages up to INR 50 LPA. P.R. Pote has a 90% placement rate but lower median (INR 3.6 LPA). GCOEA’s autonomous syllabus focuses on practical skills, similar to competitors, but its lower fees make it affordable.

Ques. What is more preferable between MHTCET and JEE Mains for admission into GCOEA?

Ans. For admission to GCOEA, MHT CET is more preferable than JEE Main. Most seats at GCOEA are filled through MHT CET scores for Maharashtra students, as it is the state’s main entrance exam. JEE Main scores are used for All India quota seats (15% of total seats), which are fewer. MHT CET candidates pay no counseling fee, while JEE Main candidates pay a fee during CAP registration.

GCOEA Admissions: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 146 Reviews

To gain admission to the B.Tech program in Information Technology at Government College of Engineering, Amravati, candidates must primarily appear for the MHT-CET, with admissions based on percentile scores. JEE scores are also accepted. Cutoff percentiles for IT often range between 94-95, making it a competitive process. For direct second-year admission, candidates with diplomas are considered based on their diploma percentages, with a requirement generally higher for CS and IT branches.

The Centralized Admission Process (CAP) is the primary mode of admission allotment, ensuring a transparent and straightforward process. There are no provisions for direct or management quota admissions. Candidates must submit documents like the 10th and 12th mark sheets, caste certificates, domicile certificates, and CAP allotment letters during admission. Admission payments can typically be made online through UPI or offline via DD. Reservation policies benefit certain categories with lower cutoff requirements.

The college does not accept cash payments for fees. The admission process can be cumbersome, involving multiple steps across various college buildings. The college does not offer management seats, and the seat allotment is strictly merit-based. Despite the rigorous cutoff, GCOEA remains a popular choice due to its status as an autonomous government institution offering fair placements compared to private colleges. Comprehensive details and updates are regularly provided on the college's official website.

For getting admission in Government College of engineering Amravati you have to clear MHTCET exam it a very good percentile for this year electrical branch student cutoff was above 90 percentile this is only exam by which you can get admission here. On admission day it is a very long procedure for admission, you have to carry all the documents and submit them at admission desk.

When I applied for other colleges I found that they are not autonomous. I had two options one wall Government College of engineering Aurangabad and second one is Government College of engineering Amravati so in between these to colleges I chose gcoe Amravati. As this college is nearby from my hometown and it is a autonomous college fees was about same in between those to college so I choose this according to my comfort. For admission in our college you have to perform well in your mhtcet exam here admissions are done on the basis of MHTCET percentile. The cutoff is about 85 to 90% varying according to a category. Admission procedure is very hectic has you have to carry so much documents and roam around the college from one desk to another for completion of admission

The reason I choose this college was because I got admission in spot round and I had not any other options so many private colleges in the same city was very better in case of placements. I wanted to go for some colleges in Nagpur but due to let's go I didn't get into this college. I played for Ramdev Baba engineering College Nagpur but the cut of was so high. Send me a process if easy you need to go for CET exam which is mhcet after that general merit list will come and you will get a percentage score after that kya proced chart and you will get placed in college accordingly
