- I chose this university because of aerospace scope in Montreal and the research scope.
Overview
Overall experience is great. Faculty is very approachable and knowledgeable.
Campus Life
The campus is well equipped with WiFi. It has good library. It also had great research facilities.

- My supervising professor Prof. Eugene Syriani and the project on which I was working are the main reason for choosing this University. The topic inclines with my area of interest and hence I choose this univeristy.
- University Of Montreal is one of the most premier institutes in Canada for ML Research. The diversity of the college is the most attractive part, people from around the world sharing the experience both professional and personal helps me grow myself. My Research Group deals with Model Driven Engineering and it is the best research group in country in this domain.
Dislikes
- The only problem is that this is a French University so it's a bit hard for anglophones to manage but its still easily manageable. Most of the things can be converted using Google Translate and most of Graduate Courses are either bilingual or have an English version.
Overview
Well my overall experience so far is amazing. I learnt a lot and my Research areas are now more clear. I would say this experience not only tech me professionally but also helps me grow personally. People from various culture and experience share their life and it is always amazing to listen their stories.
Campus Life
The university is very large in terms of Campus Area, Departments and People and it is 4th best university in Canada. We have all the facilities like, WiFi, Sports Complex, Data Center and Compute Clusters and access to Student Dorms. It has multiple societies and clubs that organise multiple events constantly.

Dislikes
- Since its in Montreal, French becomes a problem post MBA. In the MBA, it wont be a big problem, however, becomes a challenge once you start finding jobs. Usually people who don't want to learn french move to Toronto
Overview
I enjoyed it overall. It is highly fast paced compared to a 2-year program. It can push your limits but would be a rewarding experience.
Campus Life
Good not great. I wish there were more events. Other facilities were fine.

- Many of the biggest names in ML teach or supervise courses here. I even had a representation learning (Deep Learning) class taught by none other than professor Aaron Courville (one of the three authors of the Deep Learning book, which is THE book.)
- The ML and DL courses in particular imo are some of the best, taught by some of the best professors (top researchers affiliated with MIla, Quebec, are usually professors in UdeM or McGill) in the field.
- As an IUT student at McGill as well, I would whole heartedly say UdeM has better ML/DL courses than most of the top 20 Universities in the world. UdeM also ranks top 50 in QS specifically for CS overall as well, but the ML courses are really really good.
Dislikes
- There is a language issue for a lot of the subjects because it is a French University after all, however anyone pursuing a graduate course under DIRO (CS dept) can take take the English version of the classes.
- Most (I think all) ML professors affiliated with Mila (Yosua Bengio's ML research lab) teach in English. Mila = English but specifically for undergraduate classes I believe there are no English options.
Overview
My personal experience has been top notch. Being a student at UdeM is quite something once you open the course registration every semester and look at the subjects being offered for ML and the person whos is teaching it. The courses are hard and require work but the evaluation is fair and the teaching faculty are the same people who original wrote papers on the stuff that's being taught. Professors are approachable and listen to feedback, there are tons of networking opportunities and you are always surrounded by a cohort that helps you improve. Montreal as a city itself is perhaps my favorite city in North America and probably a students dream come true. Every semester students can also take up to two courses from another University too. Needless to say, I really think the experience is worth it.
Campus Life
10/10 , has everything , most universities in Montreal do. UdeM and McGill being the two premiere universities in Montreal have very good campuses and extra curriculars.
Overview
It was ranked #1 for my course. The structure of the course is very flexible and the strategic management subject is ranked highest in Europe. It was a short path to entering the business world because MBA requires work ex, and MiM doesn't.
Overview
My choice of university was predominantly influenced the department research output and because I wanted to work with a particular supervisor in that department
Fees
For PhD it is $ 27,000 CAD but with scholarship it can go down considerably and sometimes it's fully funded.
Overview
HEC is a big name in the country also this course is ranked 7th in the world and the ample number of opportunities in supply chain in Canada makes it a worthy choice.
Fees
The total fee was 30000 CAD for the course.
Overview
Because it's good in my program. I also wanted to move out of my hometown, and Montreal is the second biggest city in Canada. Furthermore, it is way less expensive than any other anglophone city to study.
Fees
It is around 1600 (all included) for 5 classes. The insurance is around 350 for the whole year. You are charged by the semester and not yearly.
Overview
It has the world's best civil law program given in the French language, and it also allows me to continue living at my family's home. The resources that the school has and give for free most of the time, are numerous.
Fees
Tuition around 2000$, other charges such as law books and jurisprudence, and a laptop is a necessity.
Overview
HEC Montreal's excellence in management teaching and research is recognized worldwide. As proof, the School was the first in North America to be awarded the three most prestigious international accreditations in its field: AACSB International, EQUIS and AMBA.
Fees
It costs around CAD 9000$ for Canadian and French students, less for Quebec students and more for the rest of the international students.
