What Drives Capilano University Admissions Decisions
Meeting the Class XII or Bachelor’s percentage floor plus IELTS 6.5 is the baseline — most such applications receive offers. Selective programs use additional filters: portfolio review for Motion Picture Arts, audition for Music Therapy, and prerequisite Mathematics for BBA.
Capilano University Yield for Indian Students
Capilano hosts 3,838 international students from 93 countries, with India among the top source markets. Yield rates are healthy because the tuition sits below Vancouver’s research-university peers.
Insider note: Applicants who narrowly miss the IELTS 6.5 floor are often offered a conditional pathway through Capilano’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program instead of an outright rejection.
Capilano University offers a manageable admissions path for Indian students who meet the Class XII 60% and IELTS 6.5 floor, with the Fall intake carrying the widest program list and richest scholarship eligibility. Build a six-month application runway and apply well before the published Fall 2027 deadline of 31 May 2027 to preserve scholarship and study-permit options.

Overview
Limited amount of film schools in Western Canada. Only about 4 in particularly in Vancouver where the film industry is most prevalent. Cheapest tuition (still very expensive) of all of the options available. The bonus was that the program included its own equipment and studio which allowed everyone to work on projects locally.
Overview
The university is Close to home, the admission process involves writing about volunteer and work experiences, extra-curricular activities. I had to write 2 essays. I graduated high school with an average above 95%. This was the only school I applied to as I knew I would get in and I planned to transfer out after a year or two.
Scholarship
I won a memorial scholarship valued at around two thousand dollars. I had to write an essay for it. I did not apply for any student loans as I have an RESP and I did not want to go into unnecessary debts as a result of taking out student loans.
Overview
In my case, I chose Capilano University to get transfer credits towards another institution since I have heard good things about their transfer program to other British Columbia universities, colleges.
Scholarship
During my process, I didn't ask for any scholarships or bursaries although there is a lot of opportunities for students with different criteria.
