Douglas College is a public institution situated in British Columbia, Canada. Douglas College offers admission in three main intakes every year: Fall, Winter, and Summer. The Fall intake (September) is the main and most preferred intake because it offers the highest number of programs and course options. The college does not publish an official acceptance rate, but they have an estimated acceptance rate of 25%.

The admission deadlines are :

  • Summer 2026: January 31, 2026 (Closed)
  • Fall 2026: May 31, 2026
  • Winter 2027: September 30, 2026

The college follows strict application deadlines, so Indian students should plan and apply on time. Douglas College also offers a University Transfer Program. This program allows students to start their undergraduate studies at Douglas College and later transfer to a recognised university to complete their degree. Students can study their first one or two years in a more affordable and supportive learning environment before moving to a bigger university. For Indian students who wish to build their career in Canada, this college can be a good choice.

Douglas College requires students to have at least 60% in Class 12 for most undergraduate programs. If the program needs Mathematics, students must also have at least a “C” grade or 60% in Class 11 Math.

For diploma programs, students must have a recognised Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60%. The degree should be in a related field.

Students must also meet the English language requirement through tests like IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or Duolingo. In some cases, the college may give an English waiver if you have IB English Literature as your subject. Along with academic marks, students need to submit important documents such as official transcripts, English test scores, passport copies, statements of purpose, letters of recommendation, and a resume. Some programs may ask for additional documents depending on the course.

Douglas College Admission Process

International students can apply to Douglas College in two main ways:

  1. EducationPlannerBC ( which is an online application system used by many colleges in British Columbia )
  2. Send the completed application form by email to the college.

In both methods, students must pay an application fee of CAD 100 (INR 6,622). The application process includes filling out the form, uploading required documents, and paying the fee to complete the submission.

Step 1: First, choose your desired program from the official Douglas College website and carefully check the admission requirements, including academic percentage, subject requirements, and English language scores.

Step 2: Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria. For undergraduate programs, around 60% or more in Class 12 is generally required, and for post-diploma programs, a recognised bachelor’s degree with required marks is needed. An IELTS 6.5 overall is usually required.

Step 3: Prepare all necessary documents such as academic transcripts or marksheets, passport copy, IELTS scorecard, and, if required, a resume or statement of purpose.

Step 4: Submit your online application through the official Douglas College application portal and pay the non-refundable application fee of CAD 100 (INR 6,622).

Step 5: If your application is selected, you will receive a Letter of Offer. Carefully read the conditions mentioned in the offer letter.

Step 6: Pay the required tuition deposit of CAD 9,500 (INR 6,38,764) before the deadline to confirm your seat. After payment, the college will issue your Letter of Acceptance and Provincial Attestation Letter.

Step 7: Apply for your Canadian study permit. Submit financial proof, medical examination, biometrics, and other required documents. The application fee for the Study Permit is CAD 150 (INR 9,933), and the Biometrics Fee is CAD 85 (INR 5,628), which the student also needs to pay.

Step 8: Once your visa is approved, register for your courses, pay any remaining tuition fees, book your travel, attend orientation, and begin your studies at Douglas College.

Douglas College Admission Decision

Douglas College processes applications based on seat availability, meaning applications are reviewed after they are received and continue to be assessed until programs reach full capacity. In most cases, students receive an admission decision within approximately 2 to 6 weeks after submitting a complete application with all required documents. Processing times may vary during busy intake periods, especially for the Fall semester.

Indian students are advised to apply as early as possible, since additional time is needed after admission to complete important steps such as paying the tuition deposit, receiving the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL), and applying for a Canadian study permit.

Douglas College requires a tuition deposit of CAD 9,500 (INR 6.29 lakhs) to confirm your seat in the program. This deposit is applied toward your first semester’s tuition and mandatory fees and is necessary before the college issues your official admission documents for the study permit process.
