Likes
- Douglas College is one of the few colleges in Canada that focus on education and therefore they keep lesser seats available in a batch.
- Even though campus is small, still there are a lot of activities students can do and participate in . Also, Most of the instructors are very corporative. Student in the college belong to diverse culture therefore you will find yourself surrounded with mix of people.
Dislikes
- Instructors are nice but they wont teach you in-depth. Most of the finance topic are not new at all , you would have studied in your bachelors. They won't teach you how to do valuations of businesses so look at the topics before applying.
Required Exams for Admission
My experience at college was good. However if you look at the fees, The study was very average. You won't learn a lot here if you are just coming here to learn.
Course Curriculum
Course is up to date. However , don't expect new age concept like web3 or bitcoin to be taught. Student will get few research projects on different companies.
Faculty
One faculty usually teach 30-40 student max per batch. Dr. Reza left a huge impact on me . He teaches, Business Math and Finance . His style of teaching is relatively better as he teaches from scratch . Moreover, his question paper that he set is relatively easy for students to solve.
Campus Life
There are numerous clubs one can join from sports to indoor games to cultural groups. Campus is small so sports usually take place at different venues. College is well equipped with good wi-fi . Student council is very active in listening to student issues and hence keep on upgrading the campus facilities. For eg: recently they added pads in the women washroom and gender neutral washroom .
Placement
Most colleges does not offer job placement drive and Douglas is one of them . However, they do job fair where companies come to educate students how they can apply and get the job.
Accommodation
Campus is small and therefore they do not offer any accommodation.
Exams
College accept IELTS. Score should be 7 or more in all the four i.e. writing, vocab, reading and listening. You have to submit SOP, LORs and CV . Make sure you show some kind of interest in your field. Also, Past experience or study in the relative field is an asset.
