The ICSE 2026 Improvement Exam accepts only students who passed, while the ISC 2026 Improvement Exam allows both passed and not-qualified students to apply — the most important eligibility difference between the two.
CISCE conducts improvement exams for both ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) after the main results every year. While both share the same portal, the same fee structure, and the same score-replacement guarantee, they differ in who can apply, what subjects are available, practical exam requirements, and how improved marks affect your academic future. The 2026 improvement exams began on June 15, 2026, with results expected in the last week of July 2026.
- ICSE improvement: passed (QLF) students only; ISC improvement: both passed and not-qualified (NQLF) students who appeared in the main exam.
- Both ICSE and ISC students can improve up to 3 subjects per attempt.
- Practical exam marks carry forward if you attended them — not re-conducted in either exam.
- Applications are submitted through your school via the CISCE CAREERS portal — students cannot apply directly.
- Fee is Rs. 500 per subject in both ICSE and ISC improvement exams.
