Dr. Mandira Gupta is presently working as Principal of the Institute of Vocational Studies, affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi.Earlier, she worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education, Al-Falah University, Dhauj, Faridabad, Haryana. She did her Ph.D. in Education from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, UP. She has a vast teaching experience of 14 years.

Having a master's degree in the triple field of Education, English Literature, and Commerce, Dr. Gupta has rich and vast experience guiding M.Ed. and M.A. Education students in their Dissertations and Projects. 

She has worked as a counsellor and Resource Person with Jamia Millia Islamia’s Centre for Distance and Open Learning. Dr. Gupta also worked for the Distance Education Centre allotted to Al-Falah University by Maulana Azad National Urdu University,Hyderabad and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. 

She has successfully guided two Ph.D.’s in the field of Education and she has contributed articles in various National and International Journals.

What motivated you to pursue a career in higher education administration, and what attracted you to your current role as a Principal?

The driving force behind my career in higher education administration is my genuine passion for education and my firm belief in its capacity to shape the future of young individuals. Witnessing the transformative power of education has always inspired me, fueling my desire to contribute to the development and growth of students on a broader scale. As a Principal, I find immense fulfilment in leading and guiding faculty members and students alike, creating an environment that fosters optimal learning experiences. By implementing effective policies, I aim to promote academic excellence and support the personal growth of every individual within the institution.

What initiatives do you implement to enhance the institution’s reputation and attract high-quality students and faculty?

To bolster the institution's standing and attract exceptional students and faculty, we have implemented several initiatives. Our priority lies in upholding rigorous academic standards and delivering a superior education. Regular evaluation and enhancement of our curriculum ensure its pertinence and alignment with the evolving needs of various industries. Secondly, we focus on fostering research and innovation, encouraging faculty members and students to delve into cutting-edge projects. By doing so,we establish ourselves as a prominent centre of knowledge and expertise. In order to effectively fulfil these responsibilities, I place a strong emphasis on efficient delegation and teamwork. I empower and encourage my faculty members and staff to take ownership of their respective roles, enabling them to contribute significantly to the institution's progress. Moreover, I firmly believe in fostering open communication and collaboration, both internally within the institution and externally with relevant stakeholders. This approach aids in streamlining processes, managing expectations, and promoting a harmonious work-life balance for all involved parties.

How do you foster a supportive and inclusive campus environment that values diversity and promotes cultural understanding?

To cultivate a campus environment that promotes inclusivity and embraces diversity, we have implemented a range of initiatives. One of our endeavours involves a dedicated diversity and inclusion committee responsible for organising workshops, seminars, and cultural events that celebrate and foster an appreciation for various cultures. Recognizing the importance of representation, we actively seek out and recruit faculty members and staff from diverse backgrounds, ensuring a vibrant and inclusive learning environment.

We also prioritise providing resources and support services to students from marginalised communities. These offerings include scholarships, mentorship programs, and counselling services, all designed to empower and uplift these students.
