What is the last date for IGNOU admission 2026 July session?

The extended last date is 15 September 2026. The deadline covers both ODL and Online programmes. IGNOU has extended this date more than once in past sessions, but an extension is never guaranteed.

Is there an entrance exam for IGNOU admission?

Not for most programmes. IGNOU operates open admission, so an eligible candidate is admitted without a competitive test. Only B.Ed, PhD and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing use an entrance test.

What is the IGNOU cutoff for admission 2026?

IGNOU publishes no cutoff for open admission programmes. There is no merit list and no seat allotment round. Admission is confirmed once the university verifies the uploaded documents.

What is the IGNOU registration fee 2026?

The registration fee is INR 300 and it is non-refundable. Fixed Learning Intake Programmes carry a registration fee of INR 500. A University Development fee of INR 400 is also payable at admission, in addition to the programme fee.

Is there an age limit for IGNOU admission?

Most IGNOU programmes set no upper age limit. A learner of any age can apply. Some individual programmes state a minimum age, so the programme page should be checked before applying.

Can I take admission in IGNOU with 4 subjects in 12th?

No. IGNOU accepts 10+2 only with a pass in five subjects. A Senior Secondary certificate with four subjects is not accepted for higher studies at IGNOU. A candidate can complete one Senior Secondary level course from NIOS and then apply.

What is the difference between IGNOU admission and re-registration?

Fresh admission is for new applicants joining a programme for the first time. Re-registration is for existing students continuing to the next year or semester. Re-registration uses a different portal and carries no INR 300 registration fee.

Can I change my programme after taking IGNOU admission?

No. Change of programme is not permitted. A student who does not wish to continue must request cancellation of admission and apply afresh. Any refund is governed by the Refund Policy of the university.

Can I get direct admission to the second year at IGNOU?

No. There is no provision for direct admission to the second or third year of any degree programme. A candidate must join the first year and then apply for transfer of credits earned at the other institution.

Is the Bachelor's Preparatory Programme still available at IGNOU?

No. IGNOU states that BPP is not on offer. Many older guides still describe it as a route for candidates without 10+2. The current route for such candidates is a Senior Secondary course from NIOS.

Can I pursue two degree programmes at the same time?

A student enrolled elsewhere may simultaneously register in an IGNOU ODL or Online programme at UG or PG level. Examination schedules are not adjusted for any clash. Simultaneous admission is barred for AICTE, NCTE and INC regulated programmes and for several collaborative programmes.

What is the maximum duration to complete an IGNOU degree?

An undergraduate degree allows six years against a minimum of three. A postgraduate degree allows four years against a minimum of two. Diploma and PG Diploma allow three years, and certificate programmes allow two.

Does IGNOU accept a polytechnic or ITI diploma as 10+2?

Yes, with conditions. IGNOU recognises diplomas from State Boards of Technical Education, ITIs and polytechnics, and the National Trade Certificate, as equivalent to 10+2. The diploma must cover a minimum of five subjects. This equivalence does not apply to the B.Sc programme.

How do I apply for IGNOU online programmes?

Online programmes use a separate portal at ignouiop.samarth.edu.in. Foreign students residing outside India apply at ignouforeigniop.samarth.edu.in. No entrance exam is required for these programmes.

Can SC and ST students get a fee exemption at IGNOU?

Yes. The exemption applies to one programme only within a given admission cycle. An applicant who submits more than one application claiming the exemption risks having every application rejected.

When will IGNOU January 2027 admission start?

IGNOU has not announced the January 2027 schedule. Based on previous cycles, applications typically open in December and close in January. The January 2027 Common Prospectus has not been released.

How to Find the Allotted Study Centre?

Not every centre runs every programme. RC Delhi-2 allots each learner a centre that offers the chosen programme. The allotment list is on the Know Your Study Centre page.

Open the Know Your Study Centre page on the RC Delhi-2 website.
Pick the link for the admission session, such as July 2026.
Search the PDF using the enrolment number.
Note the LSC code and contact the coordinator for counselling dates.

Example: An M.Com learner in Pitampura may get SGGS College of Commerce (29062). That centre runs M.Com, while a nearby centre may not.

Assignment Submission Rules at RC Delhi-2

RC Delhi-2 accepts only handwritten assignments on A4 ruled paper. Students use blue or black ink, never red. Each course goes in a separate file with its question paper attached.

Example: Shyamlal College takes assignments by hand on Sundays, 10 am-2 pm. Miranda House and Hindu College use online links.

Important: Emailed assignments are not processed unless the LSC asks for email.

A learner who moves house may need a new centre. RC Delhi-2 handles changes of study centre, regional centre, name and address.

Download the request format from the Student Corner section of the RC website.
Fill in the enrolment number, programme and the new centre code.
Attach a copy of the IGNOU ID card.
Email the form to rcd2admission@ignou.ac.in or submit it at the RC.

The new centre must run the same programme. Learners leaving the six districts request a change of regional centre.
