Being a Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

I have numerous responsibilities as the HOD of Mechanical Engineering. I manage all the department activity and ensure proper documentation work is being done. Moreover, I follow the academic calendar, make sure classes are being properly managed, and provide an outcome-based education to the students while also conducting an industrial link program.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

To establish healthy relationships among all stakeholders by motivating them for their future. Because of that, students can connect with us immediately and we, in turn, can solve their problems. They can fight their stress and improve their mental attitude. Additionally, we also provide them guidance on various projects by working with them side by side, which creates a bond between the students and the faculty. For faculties, if a particular faculty member is on leave, we get other teachers to keep the classes engaged and try to solve their problems as well.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

We bring in a practical approach to studies by taking them on industrial visits. This helps them know more about their domain in detail and it enhances their clarity in their specific subjects. This will eventually help them get into their dream careers. Additionally, we provide them with updated knowledge which is fruitful for the student’s future.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?

We organise various extracurricular activities during the academic year. We have numerous events, webinars, seminars, sports activities, cultural activities, and regular fests. This allows the students to exercise their management and leadership skills and builds their confidence which is very beneficial for their future. These events also serve as an excellent opportunity for them to relax.

What are the best practices offered by department to the students in order to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

The best practice that we offer in the department is practical knowledge in our classes. By doing practical training in the lab and in the workspace, we get to teach students the skills they need to survive in the workspace and be competitive. Apart from that, we are also engaged in various activities, such as assessments, which boost their confidence in their specific subjects and prepare them for placement interviews.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

I would advise students to decide their goals. This goal will help guide them to where they want to see themselves in the future. Also, it is important to look for guidance from the right individual, which will help them take the right path. Talk to teachers and ask them to mentor them and network with industry experts and seniors to keep updated on the industry.
