International students must meet their course-specific admission requirements for admission to UC Berkeley. The undergraduate admission process for international students is two-fold. To apply for UG programs at UCB, international applicants are required to fill an online UC Application along with various documents and pay the application fee.

University of California Berkeley Interviews

UC Berkeley Admission Committee arranges interview with specific applicants depending upon the program chosen. The university schedules interviews by invitation only.

• The interviews are conducted through prerecorded video, and remotely with an alumni or a current student.
• Undergraduate applicants are allowed to submit a video interview as a part of the application.
• Although a video interview is not mandatory, but is strongly recommended to increase the chance of getting selected. 

University of California Berkeley Admission Decision

UC Berkeley notifies the Fall term applicants applying during October 1 to November 30 filing period, about admission decision within March 1 to 31. Late applicants or students applying through Winter or Spring intake should contact the university office directly to know about the admission decisions.

Accepted students will get a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) form or will be directed to a website to demonstrate their intent to enroll. Students are advised to wait until they gets the application decision from all the campuses they have applied to, before declaring their intent to register. Students who are not selected in the application process can request a review if they feel any kind of error in evaluation or wants to add updated information to their application.

University of California Berkeley acceptance rate is 11% which shows highly competitive admissions. Being one of the highly selective institutes in USA, UC Berkeley sorts applicants based on academic merit, leadership potential and personal achievements.

• The university has admitted only 14,336 students out of 87,393 applicants. This demonstrates that students with the strongest applications can enter the university.
• One must check whether they are satisfying all the admission requirements before applying to the university.
• International students need to demonstrate outstanding academic scores, way higher than the minimum requirements, to increase their chance of admission to UC Berkeley.

Students can start the application three months before applying. After applying, students can print out their application for application ID and reference. Students can update their applications with their personal information and even their academic records. Multiple schools can also be applied for admission (except Berkeley). Each UC campus will respond to the application by March 31.
