- The college campus is very beautiful. And it gets even better during the winters.
- The college hosts a variety of events including fun and cultural events. They also celebrate Indian festivals so we can experience our traditional festivals away from home.
- They provide us with career guidance where they go through our resumes and help us improve those for us to get a better chance in our job search.
Dislikes
- The curriculum is not that vast. There are very limited courses to select from. I had decided to enroll in some courses back in India but during the time of enrollment, those course were not available.
- The process for applying for a CPT is very bad. Like there is a deadline after which even if you get any internship offer from any company, the college will not be filing your CPT.
- As this is not a state university, the tuition cost is very high as compared to the other universities.
Campus Life
- Syracuse University has a total of 2 campuses, Main Campus and South Campus. Main Campus is the one where most of the lectures are held and the South Campus is mostly for accommodations and sports.
- All the necessary facilities are available on campus, such as a sports centre, gym, library, medical facilities, and many more.
- All the festivals are celebrated here, including international festivals such as Diwali and Eid.
- Syracuse University has a football stadium called JMA Dome, which hosts many football games that are popular among the local people here.
Accommodation
- I surfed the internet to find accommodations in the vicinity of the college. There are plenty of websites that give you information about houses in Syracuse.
- The monthly rent is $600, excluding utilities. The utilities cost around $100 per month.
- I started looking for houses in June, due to which there were not many options left, as many students had booked the better houses and I had to settle for a house far away from the college.
- I would say find a house that is closer to the university, as if you miss a bus, you can also walk to the college.
- For the first year my house was 30 minutes away from the college, but now I have moved much closer and it is about 10 minutes away.

Campus Life
- My college has one main campus in Syracuse, NY, with great facilities like a library, sports areas, and a health center.
- Popular events include the International Festival, Spring Fest, and Career Fair. Sports events are held at the JWA Dome, and there are many clubs like the Data Science Society and Women in Tech, plus cultural celebrations like Diwali and Holi.
Accommodation
- I chose off-campus accommodation, found through Syracuse Quality Living, Zillow and whatsapp groups. Rent was around $600, including utilities.
- A challenge was understanding lease agreements, so I recommend starting the search early and joining housing groups on whatsapp or Telegram.
- My place is 20 minutes from campus, and many Indian students stay in areas like University Hill or Westcott.

Likes
- Love the campus facilities (Library, Labs & Beautiful Campus).
- Supportive Community - Everyone is very friendly and helpful from advisors to professors.
- Many extra curricular activities for graduate students.
Dislikes
- One thing I found challenging was weather. Winters can be very harsh with heavy snowfall & freezing temperatures.
- There are few mandatory courses which you need to take even though you're well aware of the content.
- The location of the university.
Campus Life
The college has more than 8 campuses. There are 2 libraries, one stadium & a fitness/health centre. The name of my campus is Hinds Hall (iSchool). There are many fests & so many activities. You can go through the activities here at the Experience Syracuse website.
Accommodation
There are so many websites to find accommodation, you can try UHA or SQL to find your accommodation. You need to do your research to properly find a house which suits your preference, try to look for a house which is near to a bus stop & grocery shop as it'd be difficult in winter season to walk outside.

- To a student who is willing to look for resources to grow in life, Syracuse University is an excellent college to choose.
- The infrastructure is great, and the college environment is designed to aid students in achieving their career goals.
- The university also has facilities like the Barnes Health Center that focus on student's mental and physical health.
Dislikes
- I dislike the climatic conditions in Syracuse. Especially, the harsh winters. Sometimes, the housing is way far from University which makes it difficult to travel.
- With the increase in intake, University is finding it hard to provide employment to all the students.
Campus Life
SU allowed me to embrace my student life all over, once again. From weekend hiking to midnight events called Orange After Dark, from rock climbing to sustainability clubs, I got to fulfill many activities on my bucket list as a student. The university has a club for book readers, sustainability, coders, dancers and many more. Don't like any of these? You have a chance to create your own club! SU makes it all easy for creative students. The campus has a silent library and an active library. The entire campus has a high-speed wifi facility. It also has various sports grounds both indoor and outdoor. I am pretty sure SU has so much to uncover in a span of 2 years.
Accommodation
There are rental agencies like SQL, University Hill Apartments, Orange Housing etc., that can help you find your new home. If you are to sign a lease, you shall pay a deposit that costs around $450-$600. Anything above that is overpriced. The rent also varies from $350-$600 per room, including/ excluding utilities like electricity, gas, water and wifi. Each room is for one individual. If you are willing to share, you must have the landlord's written consent. Most of the houses are located near bus stops. The transportation is free if the student's one of the destinations is university. Otherwise, Centro will charge you just 1$ per ride.

- I love the University and all the buildings and infrastructure. Syracuse University is really inclusive and everyone is super nice.
Dislikes
- The thing I dislike the most is the cost of the tuition fee. It's nearly 1900$ per credit now.
Campus Life
There are so many events and activities happening all the time. Students won't be able to attend all of them because they will be tired haha, There are super powerful computers and cloud resources which the students can utilize for performing their research and projects. The WIFI all across the campus is easy to connect and high speed. It also has access to Spectrum Watch so we can see live TV, movies and series available on that for FREE! We have amazing gym named Barnes Center for Fitness and it has everything we require. The health facilities and sports facilities are really good.
Accommodation
I live in a 5 bedroom apartment with my friends. We each have a separate room. There is no sharing here in Syracuse usually. We pay 560$ per head monthly.
Likes
- Plenty of extracurriculars, Enough on-campus jobs, Supportive faculty and administration, Modern facilities
Dislikes
- Not the University's fault, but winters are harsh, too much year-on-year intake leading to cramped spaces.
Campus Life
Syracuse University is notorious for its parties, but don't fall into its trap since it's mostly the undergrad students having fun. The facilities are modern, and you won't be disappointed.
Accommodation
There were many off-campus apartments available with the lowest starting from 1200 USD per month per apartment to 3000 and above. Compared to big cities rent is much cheaper and the cost of living is much lower in a small University town like Syracuse.
Likes
- The number of easy on campus jobs available, flexible curriculum, sports and amenities, career guidance in terms of resume building job shortlisting, enhanced alumni networking, career fairs, medical support is provided at ease.
- The value that the course provides, the recognition of engineering management from whitman is very well recognized which further pursued me to get my masters from Syracuse
Dislikes
- Weather conditions get really harsh during winters with extreme snow and wind. Which sometimes adds a lot especially for people or students like me who come from a country like India where weather conditions are not so extreme but it's excuse the summers are really warm but the winters are super cold with a lot of snow.
Campus Life
The campus is really large compared to a lot of universities in the US and they hold a lot of extra curricular events for grad and undergrad students which makes Syracuse stand out.
Accommodation
Very cheap rents compared to other areas, current rent is 450$.
Campus Life
Campus life is amazing. All the facilities including the library and sports facilities and the gym. Everything is amazing. There are a lot of fellowmen. The infrastructure is too good and up to date. Syracuse SASA and Orange After the dark - Clubs.
Accommodation
Type of Accomodation opted - Off-campus. There are plenty of options available. Criteria for shortlisting - THere are no specific criteria. Usually, all the off-campus accommodations are near to the campus.
Accommodation
The dorms are incredibly nice for college dorms. You won't be disappointed. Several different living options as well. There are singles, doubles, triples (suites), rooms with wall dividers, south campus luxury apartments.
Beautiful campus, good location, sports, and school pride, and of course great academics. The housing is great and the student body is diverse enough and is the faculty. It has a good enough reputation and a great social life.
Campus Life
Campus life is good. We have events such as (orange after dark). Students can search this online and they will get the whole schedule.
Accommodation
I am staying off campus and my rent is $450 per month with utilities.
