Course Curriculum

10

  • My program offers a balance of theory and practical learning, blending concepts with real-world applications.
  • Courses like Applied Machine Learning and NLP include hands-on projects, while Quantitative Reasoning builds a strong theoretical base.
  • Though intense, it’s rewarding, with supportive faculty like Professor Dunhum, whose teaching and industry insights inspire.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to NJIT, Yeshiva, George Washington, Illinois institute of technology, Syracuse University, Stevens Institute of Technology. Out of these i got accepts from NJIT, George Washington, and Syracuse University and rejects from Stevens, Illinois institute of technology i think the reason for the rejections is because of my backlogs in my bachelor’s, and i was from a different background i.e mechanical engineering.
  • I chose this college because it was a very reputed college out of the colleges i got admit from and also i got the admit from George Washington university very late, I received it 10 days before my visa interview and i heard that the college helps people in jobs, and the career services of this college is very good the eligibility for my course is 7 in ielts and gre, and the process was simple, i just had to apply for the admission with LOR’s and i received conditional admission, and then i had to provide financial documents, then I received the I20.
  • I applied for spring 2024 and i applied in the month of august, i got the admission within 10-15 days and just because i applied soon i got my admit, because my profile wasn’t that great, since i came from a different background and the deadline for application acceptance was November and if I’m not wrong the deadline for applications was October 14.

Faculty

10

  • My class has 25-30 students, with 20-25 Indian students, and a faculty-to-student ratio of 1:15, allowing better interaction.
  • The teaching combines lectures, projects, and case studies, making learning practical and engaging. This approach, along with helpful faculty, ensures we gain the skills and experience needed to secure good jobs in our field.

Campus Life

10

  • My college has one main campus in Syracuse, NY, with great facilities like a library, sports areas, and a health center.
  • Popular events include the International Festival, Spring Fest, and Career Fair. Sports events are held at the JWA Dome, and there are many clubs like the Data Science Society and Women in Tech, plus cultural celebrations like Diwali and Holi.

Part Time Jobs

  • On-campus part-time jobs include TA, RA, and DA positions, paying $20-$25 per hour. Other jobs like food services pay around $15.75per hour. You can work up to 20 hours a week. It's competitive to get these jobs, but networking helps. Off-campus jobs are also available, but there are work-hour limits based on your visa. But you can work 40 hours a week during breaks
  • Most Indian students prefer on-campus jobs like cafes, dining services, or TA/RA positions. Pay ranges from $15-$25 per hour. Securing part-time jobs can be competitive, but networking helps. To apply, students search job openings on handshake , submit resumes, and may attend interviews. Off-campus jobs are also available through walk-ins or online applications.

Placement

10

  • About 80-90% of graduates find jobs within 6 months, with salaries between $90,000 and $150,000. Students find jobs through campus recruitment, internships, networking, and job portals.
  • Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Deloitte, and IBM hire graduates for roles like Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer. But few also get offers from small companies.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I chose off-campus accommodation, found through Syracuse Quality Living, Zillow and whatsapp groups. Rent was around $600, including utilities.
  • A challenge was understanding lease agreements, so I recommend starting the search early and joining housing groups on whatsapp or Telegram.
  • My place is 20 minutes from campus, and many Indian students stay in areas like University Hill or Westcott.

Exams

  • The exams required for admission was IELTS and Gre was not compulsory but recommended.
  • I was asked to upload 2 LOR’s to complete the application and there wasn’t any interview, but they had asked me for financial documents after I received conditional admit and received the I20 later and i was also asked to pay 500 dollars advance fee to get the I20

Fees

  • The Fees is very high, it is 1850 per credit with around 500 additional charges per semester and health insurance is 3000 per year and my monthly expenses is around 800-900 dollars, which includes rend and groceries and other extra expenses
  • Overall it would cost at least $ 65,000 for college fees and 800-900 monthly expenses which can be covered by my part-time money

Scholarship

  • I didn’t receive any scholarship for the course in this college, but I received in George Washington that was 27000, Even many of my friends in my particular course didn’t receive any scholarship, just a few people got it, like 1 or 2 and that too they just received 10 percent, and after what i heard from other friends my school doesn’t offer scholarships but other schools of my university does offer scholarships from 25-30 percent atleast, but in my school just 3-4 people got scholarships
