- The campus is very nice to walk through as there is a lot of nature.
- The gym and athletics center is good for people trying to find a place to workout.
- UCSC has many good research opportunities.
Dislikes
- Housing is very difficult to get.
- There is no parking space and parking costs a lot of money.
- Downtown is also very expensive as it a is a tourist location.
- For my freshman year, you have to take on-campus housing as it is required. You also have to get a meal plan.
- The prices are on the UCSC website. My sophomore year, I applied to on-campus apartments and got a room.
- My current rent is 1400 monthly. There are no utility payments and there are 6 people in my apartment. There is a living room. kitchen, two large triple bedrooms with 3 people in each room, and a bathroom.
- The on-campus housing is very nice and convenient. Housing in Santa Cruz is a very difficult thing to find. Students that are lucky stay on campus. Or else, they have to find places of campus. It is the same for Indian students.

- Highly skilled and knowledgeable faculty
- Vicinity to Silicon Valley and tech companies therein
- Cheaper than private colleges by virtue of UCSC being a state university
Dislikes
- Location is somewhat remote and not a lot of shops/businesses on campus
- During a recession, job opportunities may be fewer
- Getting housing is very difficult and relatively expensive in Santa Cruz
- I applied for the university's Graduate Student Housing programme and got it.
- $1400 includes internet, water, electricity, and parking
- I personally did not face a lot of challenges. But for students in the Master's program, getting a place in university housing is difficult so they have to search for off-campus housing in Santa Cruz. I've heard this is expensive, and the rents off-campus are also $1400, but WITHOUT utilities.
- GSH is literally next to the Baskin Engineering building where my classes and lab are located.

- 1. You get TA easily ( pays more than anything )
- 2. Amazing labs to focus on your research
- 3. Friendly area to live in close to silicon valley
Dislikes
- 1. Extremely difficult housing situations.
- 2. Overpriced rent lack of housing on campus.
- 3. Strikes and protests happening which sometimes block access to campus
- Finding accommodation in Santa Cruz is the hardest. It is ranked worst in the entire US.
- However, using sites like Zillow, Placeforrent, fb market place helps a lot. The best case is to contact seniors to see if anyone is graduating and take their spot and items, which will be significantly cheaper and save time.
- My monthly rent when I came from India without any help from seniors was 1100 dollars. But after 1 year, I was able to find housing for 800 dollars. It is best to take advice from people who have been in the area before making a deal.
- Since the college housing is not adequate in numbers, you can expect to live at least 4-5 miles from campus and travel by bus.

Because this college is very nice and that campus is also very nice. and the admission process is simply not bad at all. And counselling members are also nice and there are all required documents with us. It's not hard to take the admission process

I initially wanted to be a computer science: video game design major and it is the only UC that offers it as a major. Location is also great because it is close to where I live so I get to save on housing.
