Dislikes:

  • No good scholarship options. Few options which don't even cover one month grocery bill advertise it self as a scholarship. Not east to move around, had to find transportation except one or two services. Expensive than LA sometimes. null

They are good if you are looking for construction, hardware, public service and mechanical related works. If you are looking for IT or other fields you need to work more.

Internship

I have applied for many and got interviewed for multiples.

They do have opportunities but it’s hard to find out about them. I’ve never had one so I’m not sure how to go about it. Some of my friends work in student leadership which isn’t hard to get involved with, but you can only work limited hours (I believe ten a week) and it seems to be a LOT of work.

This was the closest state school to me which made it appealing because I could save money and also attend a decent school. They had the major I wanted which made sense to me. I also liked the idea of a big school but a small program. The school has 40,000 people but my program I see the same faces in most classes.

Placements and job opportunities are usually through luck since the film/television industry is very competitive and many find jobs due to current/previous internships. My university, however, has a career center where you can apply for jobs that are within the film/tv industry.

Internship

Yes, they do offer internships. Paid or unpaid internships that are relevant to film students. Many of them aren't paid with a stipend at the end of the internship. However, I hadn't applied to an internship yet due to working two jobs outside of my classes.

Placement

There are various placements from any field such as medical, mental health, probation, school and more. This, in turn, allows students to narrow in on where they wish to pursue and during the last year students talk to potential agencies with the goal that if they do well enough there are open availability for them post-graduation.

Internship

Yes, we have an internship each year. We work a required amount of hours to meet the minimum in order to qualify to get certified at the end of graduation. My experience has been great because I am allowed to work in fields that I have wanted to gain experience in or have never had experience in. I receive a holistic training by being in different fields as well as having supervision that allows for growth.
