Fordham University admissions for Indian applicants run on a mixed platform system, with undergraduate applications routed through the Common Application and graduate work handled on Fordham’s own school-specific portals. Class XII graduates with 75 percent or higher meet the undergraduate floor, while master’s candidates need a recognised Bachelor’s with a strong upper-second (around 65 percent or a 3.0 GPA) plus program-specific test scores.

  • Next live deadline: Fall 2027 Early Action closes 1 November 2026 for the primary Fall intake.
  • Base tuition: USD 65,920 per year (around INR 62.29 Lakhs) for undergraduates, with an application fee of USD 70 (around INR 6,615) for both UG and graduate schools.
  • Eligibility floor: Class XII with 75 percent for UG, Bachelor’s with 65 percent for PG, plus TOEFL iBT 90 (UG) or 100 (most GSAS master’s) and IELTS 7.0.
  • Acceptance rate: roughly 54 percent overall, with graduate programs varying widely by school.

Popular Indian-applicant tracks include the Gabelli MS in Quantitative Finance, MS in Data Analytics, and the BS in Computer Science at the Rose Hill campus. Reviews on Fordham consistently flag the Jesuit small-class feel and strong New York recruiter access as core reasons Indian students choose it over larger metros. Full profile detail sits on the Fordham University overview page.

Admission Status: Open. Fordham’s primary intake is Fall (August) 2027. The Common Application for Fall 2027 opened 1 August 2026, and UG Early Action closes 1 November 2026. The Gabelli MBA Round 1 deadline is 15 October 2026 (Closing Soon). Application fee is USD 70 (around INR 6,615) for both UG and GSAS.

Fordham University Application Deadlines 2027

Fordham runs school-specific deadline calendars rather than a single university-wide window. Undergraduate applications are submitted through the Common Application, while the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS), Gabelli School of Business, and School of Law each maintain their own portals. The dates below reflect the Fall 2027 cycle, per the official Fordham international admissions page.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use USD 1 = INR 94.5, the live rate on 8 September 2026. Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

Fordham’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (August) — nearly every UG major, GSAS master’s, MBA specialisation, PhD, and law program opens here. Spring (January) intake exists for select GSAS master’s and doctoral tracks only.

Fordham University Eligibility for Indian Students

Fordham applies distinct academic thresholds by school and level, reviewed alongside a holistic file that weighs essays, activities, and recommender context. English proficiency is required unless a documented waiver applies.

Fordham University Academic Minimums by Level

  • Undergraduate: Class XII from a CBSE, ICSE, or state board with 75 percent or higher, with the specific subject stream matched to the intended major.
  • GSAS master’s: a recognised Bachelor’s degree of three or four years, typically at 65 percent or a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Gabelli MBA: Bachelor’s in any discipline plus 2 or more years of full-time work experience for the Full-Time MBA; part-time and executive tracks scale higher.
  • Law (LLM): a first professional law degree (LLB or JD equivalent) from a recognised university.
  • PhD: Master’s degree in a related field, with published or unpublished research writing samples for humanities tracks.

Fordham IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Indian applicants who completed 3 or more years of secondary or tertiary education in a fully English-medium institution can request a formal test waiver. Most CBSE, ICSE, and English-medium state board schools qualify at the UG level; GSAS master’s programs typically require English-medium at the Bachelor’s level. Submit a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter from the school or university’s principal or registrar with the application.

Insider note: Fordham accepts the IELTS One Skill Retake for candidates who miss a single band. Combine your best sitting with a retaken skill from within 60 days to reach the threshold.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Fordham page for your chosen program before applying.

Fordham University Graduate Programs and Requirements

Fordham’s Gabelli School of Business and GSAS drive most Indian PG interest, with finance, data analytics, and computer science drawing the largest applicant volumes. Base tuition sits at roughly USD 1,940 per credit for most master’s coursework — see the course-wise fees breakdown for per-program totals.

Fordham University Undergraduate Programs

Fordham College at Rose Hill (Bronx) and Fordham College at Lincoln Center (Manhattan) run parallel BA and BS tracks, alongside the Gabelli School of Business at the undergraduate level. Base tuition is USD 65,920 per year (around INR 62.29 Lakhs) across all UG colleges.

Fordham is test-optional through the Fall 2027 cycle for the SAT and ACT, so Indian applicants can apply without either. Sending a strong score above 1400 SAT or 32 ACT can strengthen a merit-scholarship review.

Fordham University Gabelli MBA Admissions

The Gabelli School of Business runs three MBA tracks aimed at different applicant profiles. All variants share a common online application, but the interview and experience floors differ sharply.

Gabelli MBA Deadlines and Rounds

RoundDeadlineDecision By
Round 115 October 2026Mid-December 2026
Round 215 January 2027Mid-March 2027
Round 315 March 2027Mid-May 2027

Gabelli MBA Experience and Interview Requirements

  • Full-Time MBA: minimum 2 years of full-time post-graduation work; average admitted applicant has 4 years.
  • Part-Time MBA: minimum 3 years of work; applicants must be based in the New York region for on-campus classes.
  • Executive MBA: minimum 7 years of experience with at least 3 in management.
  • Interview: required for shortlisted applicants after an initial file review, conducted virtually for international candidates over 30 to 45 minutes.
  • GMAT/GRE: waiver available for applicants with 5+ years of quant-heavy experience or a CFA / CA credential.

Full-Time MBA base tuition is USD 1,940 per credit (roughly USD 1.16 Lakhs equivalent per credit at INR 94.5). See funding for Indian students for Gabelli-specific scholarships.

Insider note: The Dean’s Premier Scholarship covers full tuition plus a USD 20,000 stipend and is awarded almost entirely to R1 applicants. Applying in Round 2 or later effectively removes you from that pool.

Fordham University PhD Admissions

Fordham PhD tracks sit inside GSAS and are almost exclusively fully funded for admitted candidates. The application is competitive with small annual cohorts of 3 to 8 students per department.

Fordham PhD Application Timeline

  • Application opens: 1 September 2026 for Fall 2027 entry.
  • Priority funding deadline: 15 December 2026 — required for stipend consideration.
  • Interviews: late January to February 2027, conducted by the department.
  • Admission decisions: mid-March 2027, with a 15 April acceptance deadline (US council norm).

Fordham PhD Funding for Indian Students

Admitted PhD students typically receive full tuition remission plus an annual stipend of USD 30,000 to USD 34,000 (around INR 28.35 to 32.13 Lakhs) for the academic year 2026-27, along with health insurance. Fellowships include the Loyola Fellowship (humanities), University Fellowship (non-humanities), and Alumni Dissertation Fellowship for advanced candidates.

Note: PhD funding packages differ by department and cohort year. Confirm the current stipend and years of guaranteed support on the official Fordham GSAS funding bulletin before applying.

Fordham University Application Process Step-by-Step

The application flow differs across UG and graduate schools, but a consistent five-step spine holds for Indian applicants. All steps are online — no paper submissions are accepted.

  1. Open the application on the correct platform. UG applicants use the Common Application (Fall 2027 cycle opened 1 August 2026). GSAS master’s and PhD applicants use the Fordham GSAS portal. Gabelli MBA and MS candidates apply through the Gabelli portal.
  2. Pay the application fee of USD 70 (around INR 6,615) for UG and GSAS, or USD 100 (around INR 9,450) for the Gabelli MBA. Fee waivers exist for demonstrated financial need at the UG level.
  3. Upload transcripts and supporting documents including Class X, Class XII, and Bachelor’s mark sheets, English proficiency scores, and passport bio page.
  4. Submit essays, SOP, and recommendation letters through the platform’s recommender-invite system. Fordham requires 2 recommenders for UG and 2 to 3 for graduate programs.
  5. Track your file and respond to interview invitations. Gabelli MBA and select PhD tracks require an interview; UG admissions do not.

Fordham University Admission Decisions

Fordham releases decisions on a school-specific calendar. Offers are conditional on receipt of final transcripts and any pending test scores.

  • UG Early Action: decisions by 15 December 2026; enrollment deposit due 1 May 2027.
  • UG Regular Decision: decisions by 1 April 2027; enrollment deposit due 1 May 2027.
  • GSAS master’s: rolling decisions from February to April 2027.
  • Deferrals: approved case-by-case for one year, typically for visa delays or documented medical reasons.

Fordham University Documents Required for Indian Students

Fordham accepts all documents digitally at the application stage. Physical or attested copies are needed only after admission, for the visa I-20 issuance and enrollment.

  • Valid Indian passport (bio page scan) with at least 18 months validity beyond intended entry.
  • Class X and Class XII mark sheets with passing certificates (UG applicants).
  • Bachelor’s degree transcripts and provisional certificate (graduate applicants), with WES or ECE evaluation optional but recommended for MBA.
  • English proficiency score report sent electronically to Fordham’s ETS or IELTS code.
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) or Common App personal essay, 500 to 650 words.
  • Two to three letters of recommendation from academic or professional referees, submitted via the portal.
  • Updated CV or resume (required for all graduate applications).
  • GMAT, GRE, LSAT, or CFA score report if the program requires or you are submitting for waiver-review context.
  • Financial affidavit and bank statement covering the first year cost of attendance (only after admission, for the I-20).
  • Two passport-sized photographs for the enrollment file.

Fordham University Acceptance Rate

Fordham’s overall undergraduate acceptance rate sits at roughly 54 percent, based on the most recent Common Data Set filings. Selectivity varies sharply by school and program — the Gabelli School of Business is materially harder than the Fordham College at Rose Hill liberal arts pool.

Fordham Acceptance Rate by School

  • Fordham College at Rose Hill (BA/BS): around 55 to 58 percent.
  • Gabelli School of Business (UG): around 45 to 50 percent.
  • Gabelli Full-Time MBA: estimated at 40 to 45 percent, based on competitive-intake program patterns; university does not publish an official school-level MBA figure.
  • GSAS master’s programs: range from 30 to 65 percent depending on department.
  • GSAS PhD programs: under 15 percent for most departments due to funded-cohort caps.

How Indian Applicants Compare

International admit rates trend slightly lower than the overall figure, but Fordham has grown its Indian cohort steadily and now sits inside the top 10 destination institutions for Indian students in New York state. Its Collegedunia Study Abroad ranking band reflects this rising visibility.

Insider note: Indian applicants applying Early Action historically see a 5 to 8 point higher admit rate than Regular Decision candidates, because the pool is smaller and the merit-aid budget is fresh.

USA F-1 Student Visa Process for Fordham University

Indian students admitted to Fordham need the F-1 student visa, granted by the US embassy or consulate in India. Fordham issues the I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility) within 2 to 3 weeks of enrollment confirmation and deposit payment.

The visa flow is a five-part sequence. Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee of USD 350 (around INR 33,075), complete the DS-160 form online, pay the visa application fee of USD 185 (around INR 17,483), book biometric and consular interview slots at a US consulate (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, or Hyderabad), and attend the interview with the I-20, financial proof covering the roughly USD 75,000 (around INR 70.88 Lakhs) first-year cost of attendance, and academic documents. Post-arrival, register with Fordham’s Office for International Services within 30 days. Full step-by-step guidance sits in the USA F-1 visa guide for international students.

2026 update: US consulates in India have expanded student-visa slots for the Fall 2027 cycle. Book your interview immediately after the I-20 arrives — waits at Delhi and Mumbai still stretch to 6 to 8 weeks in peak May-July.

Tips and Checklist for Fordham University Admissions

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Fordham over the past two admission cycles.

  • Target Early Action: Apply by 1 November 2026 to access the largest merit-aid pool and a higher effective admit rate.
  • Request transcripts 8 weeks in advance from your Class XII board or Bachelor’s university to avoid last-week bottlenecks.
  • Book the IELTS or TOEFL by August 2026 if targeting the November EA deadline, so score reports reach Fordham in time.
  • Register recommenders on the Common App or GSAS portal 6 weeks before submission and share your resume with each recommender.
  • Draft the Fordham supplemental essay early: the "why Fordham" prompt rewards specific Jesuit-identity and New York-access references, not generic ranking talk.
  • Complete the CSS Profile by 1 February 2027 for aid consideration — Fordham requires it for all international need-based reviews.
  • Pay the enrollment deposit by 1 May 2027 once admitted, then submit the I-20 request within the same week.
  • Schedule the F-1 interview immediately after I-20 receipt — do not wait for June, when slots become scarce.

Fordham University admissions reward Indian applicants who plan around the 1 November Early Action deadline, secure IELTS or TOEFL scores by August 2026, and submit through the correct school-specific portal — Common App for UG, Gabelli portal for MBA and MS, GSAS portal for master’s and PhD. Merit aid is generous but front-loaded to early rounds, so timing beats retries.

Overview

It was located in the heart of New York City, which means you can build more and better connections. Most of the big 4 headquarters are in NYC, which makes it very easier to network in those areas. I have an undergrad degree in Accounting and I wanted to up my skills in that field. Masters in Accounting seemed to be the perfect option for that.

Scholarship

I received Dean’s Scholarship which is $20,000 for the entire 18 months course. There was no separate application for scholarship. The question for scholarship was usually asked in your main college application itself.

Overview

I wanted to be in the city and Fordham was in a fantastic spot with access to the theater which is what I ultimately want to work in. I knew I was above Fordham's average so I could get in. I had the application fee waived. I applied to 14 colleges and I got into 9 of them. I've maintained a high honors status throughout all my schooling. I loved the independence the Lincoln Center campus has while still maintaining a sense of community.

Scholarship

Yes, I received a merit scholarship with my acceptance letter and a small amount of financial aid. I paired this with multiple outside scholarships I won on my own.

Overview

Great professors, great location near the city. Beautiful campus and is not too big of a school, less than 10,000 students. Also, the students are all very motivated and driven creating a hardworking environment.
