  • The course syllabus pretty sync with the latest trends, and you are free to choose the courses you want. In a week, usually only 3 classess assuming 3 courses in a semester, and an average of about 45-60 students per class.

  • Apartments.com and college whatsapp groups were a good source, I would say. Also, Bloomington is a small college town so the search area becomes smaller and I would definitely recommend staying on the east side, which would be the best. There is good bus connectivity all over the campus & different apartments, which are free for students.

Our course curriculum is really relevant and updated according to the world events. We are taught using real world examples which makes it easier to understand as we have a reference point. As of now we haven’t been given any research experience. As a sophomore I think such opportunities will open up to me!

The course for the first two years was repetitive as I had already studied that in high school. However, the course syllabus from third year onwards is very relevant and teaches us about real world topics and issues that can be used on the job. No we were not given any industrial exposure or research experience.

Fees

The total fees is around $40,000 per year which adds up to $160,000 for a 4 year program like mine.

I think the first two years at the Kelley School of Business prepare you really well to enter most fields in business. They give you a lot of applicable and relevant knowledge. The second two years give you a lot of knowledge specific to your interests and prepare you to enter the industry more than most other new grads are prepared.

Fees

The university raises their fees almost every year, so as an out of state student I am currently paying around 19,000 USD for tuition per semester (38000 USD in the year). This does not include housing fees and meal plans.

I found the course curriculum to be very updated and enriching. There are various requirements such as breadth and depth requirements that ensure that each student knows core areas well and specialises in area of their interest. There is also a requirement to pass efficiency test in one foreign language (German/French/Russian). This is very helpful because some research papers are not written in English. Various seminars are also conducted that help students. I found their academic approach very holistic and based on learning and knowledge instead of being a race for grades. Each student is also assigned an academic mentor (a faculty) and a peer mentor (a senior PhD student) for personalised guidance throughout the program.

I chose to this university because it has great faculty working in the area of my interest (Functional Analysis and Operator Theory). At IIT Delhi, we follow books written by authors that have worked/studied at Indiana University. In fact, my current supervisor (Prof. Hari Bercovici) at IU was my top choice because I was inspired by a book written by him. His research credentials are amazing and that’s what matters the most in PhD. The university’s math department ranks 34 and it’s situated in Bloomington which is a very pleasant place to live. I also had offers from - University of Oregon, University of California (Davis) and NYU(unfunded).

The course is very relevant to current affairs and the faculty will go out of their way to make it relevant to the current situation. It is a fairly competitive business program with great placements. Getting a high GPA is not difficult and as of now I have not been given any research experience but I'm sure in the following years I will be.

The current course curriculum I am taking at Indiana University has been challenging, but overall pretty manageable. I like my classes and my professors are very helpful. The material gets hard but office hours are very helpful and so are the free tutors.

Fees

There are a bunch of different fees for living on campus freshman year but most were not that expensive. Instead of buying my textbooks from the bookstore on campus I rented them off of amazon for way cheaper.
