What Students Say
Likes
- It had the #7 best business school in the US and along with that I received a very good scholarship. Another reason was that I was close to my local guardian who lives 4 hours away.
- Indiana University has a very well spread out and great campus, with new and modern infrastructure. I also like the fact that even though it is huge, it is very well connected through public transportation. Another thing that I love about this college is their team of faculty and advisors. They are very well equipped to help you out in every way possible.
Dislikes
- There are very few things that I dislike about this university, but the biggest one is the availability of affordable food on campus without buying a meal plan. In my first year I did not realise this problem as I had a meal plan and I could get food very easily from the dinning halls, but after moving off campus the food has become very expensive to purchase out of pocket. So I believe that they could improve on this a little bit.
Required Exams for Admission
My overall experience at Indiana University has been very enlightening. I have learned a lot not just about my subject but also about myself and life in general. My biggest challenge after coming here was to settle and fit in to the culture and as time went by it was to stay here and make a mark for myself. I have been able to form a lot of meaningful friendships and connections with people from all walks of life. I would definitely recommend people to come and study abroad if they have the resources to as it can really shape you into a well rounded individual.
Course Curriculum
The course for the first two years was repetitive as I had already studied that in high school. However, the course syllabus from third year onwards is very relevant and teaches us about real world topics and issues that can be used on the job. No we were not given any industrial exposure or research experience.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio varies according to the class. However, most classes have an average ratio of 18:1. The professors are very well versed and approachable in most cases. My computer in business professor, Ms. Amy Schumer, has really left an incredible impact on me and motivated me to do really well in her class.
Campus Life
The campus life is well balanced and there are lot of places to get involved in. There are multiple events and extracurricular activities taking place on campus all year round. We have a club involvement fair in the beginning of each semester for students to explore them and join them if they are interested. Wifi is free on campus and is available in all the buildings at all times. There is a huge sports facility with almost 50 different sports and a gym area. There are 3 main libraries on campus with a wide variety of subjects and books available.
Placement
The post-study placement rate is 92% for my program and most students go on to pursue higher education at the same university as well. There are a lot of different companies that visit our campus, but the top 2 hiring companies are EY and Deloitte. The median salary is around $65,000.
Accommodation
In the first year of college I was living in on-campus housing, where I shared a room with one more girl and had a community bathroom with 18 other girls. The rooms were quiet big and spacious and my roommate was also very sweet and friendly. After the first year I moved to am apartment off-campus with 2 of my other friends and am currently living in a 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment with them. The average rent here is $800 which needs to be paid monthly without the utilities which could cost an additional $30-$40.
Exams
My scores: IELTS 8.5; SATs 1350/1600. Class minimum scores: IELTS 6; SATs 1200. CV - Work experience, high school, activities, achievements, certificates, skills, and school GPA.
Fees
The total fees is around $40,000 per year which adds up to $160,000 for a 4 year program like mine.
Scholarship
Yes, I received a global engagement scholarship of $11,000/year. The requirement for the scholarship was an essay for a given topic. To continue receiving that scholarship I have to maintain a GPA of 3.0 and above.
