Campus

Course Curriculum

  • Difficulty of the classes is as expected and more difficult than other lower-ranked schools. They try to maintain the rankings and outlook. You need to take 4 classes a semester so a day could be busy or not depending on your schedule.
  • Average number of students is around 150 in each class and about 20-30% would be Indians in each class that you will take.

Admission Experience

  • I applied for the following universities:
    • Georgia Institute of Technology - accepted
    • University of Central Florida – accepted
    • University of Florida – accepted
    • University of North Carolina - accepted
    • Purdue University – rejected
    • University of Maryland - rejected
    • University of Wisconsin–Madison – rejected
  • Got rejected to these because they were more research oriented schools and I did not have much research experience
  • Great ranking for CS. Application included GRE, Transcript, 3 LORs, and an SOP. The GRE average was around 317. At least 3 Letters of Recommendation required. The minimum GPA was 3.0 in undergraduate. Resume was also required. Great experience in general but a little difficult to get in and has some strict requirements for scores in exams because of the ranking
  • I applied to the Fall 2024 intake around mid-November, and the deadline is mid-December. Decision day is in the first week of April. You have to provide all the scores, LORs, SOP, and resume in the application and once you get accepted, you have until 1 month after school starts for the transcripts to be submitted via parchment or other official medium; this can also vary.

Faculty

  • It is pretty good; there are about twenty to thirty students per teaching staff member so you can get good personal attention and can go to office hours for help and get it in time without waiting too long for your turn and they are pretty smart and can solve your issue pretty quickly. There are part-time teaching assistants who help the professor

Campus Life

10

  • There are a lot of clubs and events on campus that you can be a part of and get great experience and free food at the same time. You can also join them to be a part of the board and help arrange these events to make a good experience for people coming to them. Best part is the free food you get and the people you get to meet from different backgrounds and nationalities.

Part Time Jobs

  • Very few students get these gta gra or ta positions since it is very competitive and takes a very good score in classes and experience. Other positions at food-related places are easier to get and almost everyone looking for a job gets one in about 2 months if put in enough efforts to get one so it is not that difficult to get a job to cover some expenses
  • Everyone wants to get a graduate teaching assistantship or graduate teaching research position since they have tuition fee waivers and you get a great stipend that is able to help you cover most of your expenses and might even save some money for having fun and splurging on food or other fun things. Others work with professors for other related things.

Placement

  • Most people find an internship for the summer and quite a few people find a full-time job as well but the market right now is very difficult and fewer than normal people are getting jobs because of it but the career fairs and alumni network are very useful and there are a lot of resources to help you prepare for interviews. The name of the university also helps because of its very high rankings

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I am living off campus at a student living apartment and found it online; the university had a website that gave all the apartment lists in the area that i used. It is about 1500 a month, including utilities. I live about a five-minute walk from the campus so not a long walk most Indians don’t stay here since it is expensive; they live on the west side of the campus

Exams

  • You need your college transcript, 3 letters of recommendation, 1 statement of purpose, gre score, IELTS score, and resume. No interview was needed. All these are necessary and without them you cannot submit the application, except for the transcript, which can be submitted after acceptance and within 1 month of starting school there. Minimum scores are also given online.

Fees

  • Fees are about 32000 per year for 11 credits and over. Living expenses can be around 1000 per month plus food and transportation. Food costs around 200-300. Transportation could depend on your lifestyle.
  • Other regular expenses are also a personal thing and can depend but expect around 55000 a year, including everything. There are other costs that can take it higher.

Scholarship

  • GTAs and GRAs get tuition fee waivers and I got it for my last semester. It also covers 75 per cent of your student health insurance and fees go around 1000 a semester.
  • You also get paid a stipend which depends on how many hours you are appointed for and the department which you are working for for the base rate of salary but least it could be is around 1000
