Required Exams for Admission

GRE (297)

Its good for campus life but not from job factor. For a single part-time on-campus job itself vacancy to application ratio is about 1-400. So, anyone can imagine.

Course Curriculum

9

The course syllabus is good. Only bad thing I faced is that Master students in Erik Jonsson school do not get opportunity for TA positions and it is reserved for only PHD students. But, in JSOM, I have heard this semester they gave out 300 TA positions.

Faculty

9

Depends: sometimes 50-1 or sometimes 100-1 Faculty are really good. They are approachable as well. Sriram Natarajan: Amazing professor for Machine Learning.

Campus Life

9

It all good. Lots of clubs to choose from and every now and then there will be events on campus. Since Indian population is huge I mean almost 70% students are Indians so events also include Indian festivals like Diwali, Holi etc.

Placement

8

A lot companies visits campus but the intake rate for UTD is too huge so very less chance. I'm still applying to get a job will be able to learn more after I get one.

Accommodation

Off Campus
9

I live off-campus as its cheaper. University housing is really costly. I live in sharing with 3 more person and my apartment is 2 bed 1 bath and rent is 2000$ for a month. Average I'll say should be kept in mind is 500 for rent and 100$ for electricity and water-wifi bill. Other than that 50-80$ for groceries. So, Total approx 700$.

Exams

My Scores GRE: 142 Verbal Reasoning 155 Quantitative 3.0 Writing; TOEFL is not compulsory for Indians. Had to submit: CV, 3 LOR, SOP as well. CV included a 1 page summary of my whole career and extra curricular activities I was part of in my undergrad. SOP : Why I want to transition from Mathematics to Computer Science.

Fees

For a single 3 credit course : $5,800 So, my course is 33 credits therefore: approx $64,000 (Non-resident fee).

Scholarship

I applied really late. If you apply early then can get Dean Scholarship.
