Sister Nivedita University Admission FAQs
Ques. Can an SC/ST student get additional fee benefits at Sister Nivedita University?
Ans. Yes, Sister Nivedita University follows reservation norms as per Government of West Bengal guidelines, which means SC/ST/OBC candidates are considered under reserved category seats during merit-based allotment. Additionally, SC/ST students are eligible to apply for government-facilitated scholarships such as the WB OASIS Scholarship at oasis.gov.in and the Top Class Education Scheme for SC students with family income up to INR 8 lakh - both of which Sister Nivedita University actively facilitates. These government scholarships, however, cannot be combined with Sister Nivedita University's own institutional scholarship at the same time.
Ques. Does Sister Nivedita University accept applications from students with a gap year?
Ans. Sister Nivedita University does not explicitly restrict admission on the basis of a gap year. Candidates with a gap year between Class XII and application are eligible to apply as long as they meet the minimum eligibility criteria for their chosen program. Gap year candidates are advised to carry a self-declaration or gap certificate along with their standard documents at the time of physical verification.
Ques. What is the difference between SNUET and SNURET at Sister Nivedita University?
Ans. SNUET and SNURET are two separate entrance tests conducted by Sister Nivedita University for entirely different purposes. SNUET is for UG and PG program admissions. It is an online mcq-based test covering aptitude, reasoning, and subject basics, with a minimum qualifying score of 45%, and also serves as a scholarship eligibility determinant. Candidates with valid scores in JEE Main, WBJEE, CAT, MAT, GATE, CLAT, CUET, NATA, UGC-NET, or JENPAS are automatically exempted from SNUET. SNURET on the other hand, is exclusively for PhD admissions. It consists of a written test followed by a personal interview, and there is no exemption route for SNURET. Every PhD applicant at Sister Nivedita University must qualify SNURET regardless of prior academic qualifications or national-level scores.
Ques. Can students change their program after admission at Sister Nivedita University?
Ans. Sister Nivedita University's seat allotment is based on merit and preferences indicated at the time of application. Program changes after the offer letter has been issued and fee payment has been made are subject to seat availability in the desired program and approval from the university administration. Candidates who wish to switch programs are advised to contact the admissions office at the earliest.
Note: Changes requested after enrolment and document verification are significantly harder to process and may not be accommodated within the same academic session.
