Should I pursue IT at PICT or CSE at IIIT-Pune (Chakan)?

I have a friend at IIIT Pune. I only heard good things about the institute from him. Here are some facts about IT at PICT and CSE at IIIT-Pune, which may help you to decide. Teachers: All of the faculties of IIIT-Pune are Ph.D. holders from institutes like IIT KGP, NITs, and foreign universities. Most of the faculties of PICT are M.Tech or still pursuing their PhDs. Crowd: Instead of going home during vacations, students attend Android and Web development workshops. Faculties encourage students to take up projects and internships from the first semester. Degree: Students get B.Tech in IIIT-Pune as compared to a B.E. at PICT. IIIT-Pune's curriculum doesn't include subjects like Civil, Engineering Drawing, Mechanics, Mechanical, Chemistry which are of no use in the course of CSE. Institute of National Importance: IIIT-Pune is like all the IITs, NITs, IIITs which is an Institute of National Importance( INI) which leads to a lot of Government funds and monetary support. Students who did their 12th from the MP board or others can receive a full tuition fee waiver for 4 years of their B. Tech since IIIT Pune is an INI. Sports and Clubs: Any student can start a club of their own if they have a passion for something at IIIT-Pune. IIIT- Pune bagged 5 medals in IIT- BHU’s Annual Sports Fest Spardha and continues to receive honors in other sports events as well. Attendance and Holidays: PICT has minimum attendance criteria of 75% and PICT imposes an 80% attendance. PICT has 9 days winter break and 15 days summer break, so if you are not a local then you will not get to see much of your family. At IIIT-Pune students get 1 month of Winter Break and about 2.5 months of Summer Break. Exposure and Brand: IIIT-Pune students usually go for two industrial visits to Infosys and Tech Mahindra. IIIT is a brand as there are a total of 23 IIITs in India and are recognized throughout the country and overseas. IIIT-Pune also has inter-IIT sports and technical fests every year where all the IIITs across the country take part. You should prefer COEP IT. It is among the top engineering colleges in Pune. The institute offers better academics, faculties, and placements. IIIT Pune Detailed Review

First Year fees for me was Rs 278750 only academic fees while on other hand mess fees was aroung 35385 with 5000 as secuirty and 30385 as hostel and mess was around 22000 for the first sem and 18000 for the second sem. So total was around 389520. While in Second Year College academic fees is around 271750 and mess fees is 20000 for both the semseter and Hostel fees is increased to 35385 for each semester so the total fees is around for the second year is around 382520. Academic fees for the 3rd Year for me will be 271750 and for 4th year will be 272750. While Till now the hostel fees is aroung 35585 and mess fees is 20000. But can't predict the fees about the hostel and mess in the future. But if we consider that hostel and mess fees is around as same as today then total fees will be around 15 to 15.5 lakhs.

Student Snaps:

The fees of iiit pune lies on a lil expensive side, the tution fees is around 2.19 lakhs with other fees making it to 2.7 lakhs per year. 70000 is the hostel fees per year and 20000 is message fees per semester. If you are Maharashtra domicile and have obc ncl or any other caste based reservation you can opt for scholarship on mahadbt portal. For obc all of tution fees is given back by gov.

The fee structure is 110000 for tuition fee per sem and 65000 for hostels yearly maybe, i dint go for any scholarship until now. Im trying national scholarship portal. Im obc ncl category. So the fees is same as general.

IIIT PUNE AS EXPERIENCED BY A FRESHER.

Institution fee for 1st year is 3,08,750 which will be collected in 2 installments, one for each semester. 1st installment is 1,61,750 and the 2nd is 1,47,500. Hostel fee (per semester) - 30,385 Caution deposit (one time) - 10,000 Electricity charge (per semester) - 5000 Mess fee (per semester) - 20,000 Everyone in the collage belongs to whichever cast or category has to pay the equal fee and over that the collage also don't provide any scholarships at all but if you are able to secure government scholarships on your own that might be a profitable option to make the difference. The institute itself doesn't provide any scholarships on the marks or performance basis. For the rest of the year in the collage,we as a fresher are not given a fee structure of whole course but its nearly the same every year with said that the fee may vary as per market demand. Being a PPP institution the collage runs on our institution fee so the fee is sort of on a higher end compared to other institution offering same course.

The total fees for 2024-28 batch for 1st year is Rs 2,78,750.It includes 25,000 development fee,1000 of medical aid, 8000 laboratory, 7000 library fees, 6700 computer training and internet fees, examination fee 1500, gathering and youth festival fee 1500 and alumni association fee 2000. For all four years the fees is almost same. There is no fee wavery for any category.But one can apply for any other government or private scholarships

Academic fee for a even semester is 90000 ruppees . Academic fee for odd semester is around 110000 rupees . Mess fee for a semester is 18750 ruppees . Hostel fee for two semesters is 60000 ruppees and scholarships are available on for students who's state government provide it
