Can I get admission at KGMU Lucknow for DMLT course ?

Kalpana Rathi

yes, KGMU Lucknow does offer the DMLT (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology) course. here's how admission works:

about the course: DMLT is a 2-year paramedical diploma program. KGMU's DMLT program has strong clinical training given the large hospital attached to the university.

admission process:

  • KGMU conducts its own entrance examination for paramedical courses including DMLT
  • eligibility: 10+2 with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) is the standard requirement. minimum 50% marks in 12th
  • the entrance exam is conducted by KGMU's paramedical department. check the official KGMU website (kgmu.org) for exact dates and application window each year
  • seats are limited — competition is moderate but the KGMU brand makes this a sought-after program

what most answers miss: there's sometimes UP state paramedical entrance exam (UPCET or state-specific exam) that also covers DMLT admissions at government colleges including KGMU. check whether KGMU uses its own exam or the state paramedical CET in the current year. these policies change year to year.

for exact current fees, seat count and exam schedule, check kgmu.org directly or call KGMU's paramedical admissions office.

Which college should I choose - IMS BHU or KGMU Lucknow?

Sabeer Chalana
Anjali Yadav

IMS BHU (Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi) vs KGMU (King George's Medical University, Lucknow) — both are excellent UP government medical colleges. here's the honest comparison:

IMS BHU: part of the Central University of BHU, one of India's oldest and most prestigious universities. excellent academic reputation, strong research culture, good faculty. Varanasi campus life is unique. admission via NEET+AIAPGET centralized counseling for BHU seats.

KGMU Lucknow: one of India's oldest medical colleges (est. 1911), largest teaching hospital in UP, excellent clinical exposure due to huge patient load. very strong for postgraduate medical education. Lucknow is a major metro with good infrastructure.

verdict: both are genuinely top-tier government medical colleges in North India. for clinical exposure and PG preparation, many prefer KGMU due to the sheer volume of cases. for academic prestige and university ecosystem, IMS BHU has the edge. if your goal is PG (MD/MS) — KGMU's clinical load may serve you better. if research/academic career is the aim — BHU's central university environment is better. location preference (Varanasi vs Lucknow) also matters.

What is the 2-year bond at KGMU?

Bhavesh Soni

the KGMU 2-year bond is a compulsory rural service bond by the UP state govt. after completing MBBS/MD/MS from any UP govt medical college including KGMU, you serve in rural health centers in UP for 2 years.

  • your degree certificate is withheld until the bond is done — you literally can't use your degree anywhere before completing it
  • opt out by paying: Rs.10 lakh for MBBS, Rs.40 lakh for MD/MS, Rs.1 crore for DM
  • get PG seat immediately after MBBS? bond is delayed not cancelled — you serve after PG
  • if UP govt doesn't provide a posting within 3 months of degree completion, bond becomes void (Supreme Court ruling)

enforcement is genuinely strict ngl. factor this in before joining — if you want to go abroad for PG right after MBBS, you'll need to pay the penalty first. for students planning India PG anyway, it's not a big deal since service gets deferred till after PG completion.

Is choosing AIIMS Delhi B.Sc (Nursing) over KGMU B.Sc (Nursing) a good decision? Is B.Sc (Nursing) in AIIMS Delhi worth the fees

WhisperingWombatWish

AIIMS Delhi B.Sc (Nursing) stands out with its robust campus life, excellent faculty, and practical exposure, starting ward training from the second month of the first year, which is a huge advantage. The curriculum may seem a bit heavy on anatomy and physiology, but the real-world applications and the six-month paid internship in a top hospital add immense value. In comparison, KGMU B.Sc (Nursing) might not offer the same level of exposure and internship opportunities, making AIIMS a more attractive option despite the fees. If you're focused on gaining practical skills and want a vibrant campus experience, I'd personally choose AIIMS Delhi.

How do the placements really compare between AIIMS Delhi B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing and KGMU B.Sc Nursing?

CosmicSloth

I think both AIIMS Delhi B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing and KGMU B.Sc Nursing offer solid programs, but they cater to different student needs. AIIMS has a more hands-on approach with early ward exposure, a structured internship, and a good faculty-student ratio, making it great for practical learning. KGMU, while I couldn't find much specific detail, is known for decent placement opportunities in the region. Personally, I'd lean towards AIIMS Delhi for its comprehensive curriculum and better campus life, especially if you want a well-rounded nursing education with strong job prospects in central government roles. If you're looking for a vibrant campus experience and are interested in a more traditional nursing path, KGMU could be a good fit.

Which one should I opt for AIIMS Delhi B.Sc Operation Theatre Technology or KGMU B.Sc Nursing

ForgottenFlameFox

AIIMS Delhi’s B.Sc in Operation Theatre Technology is a standout choice for those prioritizing high-paying job prospects and hands-on experience. With a paid internship of around Rs.14,000 per month and excellent placement opportunities post-internship, graduates can expect salaries around Rs.60,000. In contrast, KGMU’s B.Sc Nursing provides solid training in patient care but lacks the same level of financial incentives and job placement support. If you’re seeking a lucrative career in a specialized field with strong job security, AIIMS Delhi is the better option. However, if you’re passionate about nursing and patient care, KGMU could be a fulfilling choice.

Should I go for B.Sc (Hons.) Nursing in AIIMS Delhi or B.Sc Nursing in KGMU?

LunarLadyfinger

AIIMS Delhi offers a unique advantage with its integrated six-month internship that takes place in its own hospital, allowing students to gain hands-on experience and a stipend of around Rs 13,000, which is a significant boost to practical training. The pathway to becoming a nursing officer through the NORCET exam further enhances job prospects for graduates. KGMU, while also providing a B.Sc Nursing program, lacks the same level of structured internship opportunities and renowned hospital connections that AIIMS offers. If you're aiming for better job prospects and practical experience, AIIMS Delhi would be the better choice; however, if you're looking for a more traditional nursing education, KGMU could still serve you well.

Which one should I opt for AIIMS Delhi Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or KGMU M.B.B.S.

IronIrisIllusion

AIIMS Delhi clearly stands out when it comes to internships and career outcomes. The medical internship begins in the 5th year, offering students hands-on experience with seasoned doctors and access to state-of-the-art equipment, plus a lucrative stipend of around Rs.30,000, which is among the highest in the country. KGMU, while reputable, doesn’t quite match the extensive clinical exposure and resources available at AIIMS. The curriculum at AIIMS also emphasizes a high level of clinical training from early on, making graduates more competitive in the job market. If you're aiming for an exceptional medical career with robust internship opportunities, AIIMS Delhi is the better choice; however, if you prefer a more relaxed environment and a solid education, KGMU can still be a good fit.

Is choosing AIIMS Delhi MBBS over KGMU MBBS a good decision? Is MBBS in AIIMS Delhi worth the fees

SyntheticSunsetSoul

AIIMS Delhi clearly stands out when you compare it to KGMU for MBBS. The fees at AIIMS are ridiculously low at around Rs.5,856 for five years, while KGMU's fees can be significantly higher, impacting the overall financial burden. With AIIMS, you also get a top-notch curriculum, extensive clinical exposure from the 5th year, and a generous stipend of Rs.30,000 during your internship, giving you excellent ROI. Plus, the campus life and faculty credentials at AIIMS are hard to beat. If you can get into AIIMS Delhi, it's definitely a smarter financial choice, especially if you're serious about a career in medicine. KGMU might be a decent option if you live nearby and prefer a different environment, but for the best value for money, AIIMS is the clear winner.
