Placement Experience:

In my college, the placement process commences after the 7th semester. Some of the companies that come in my college are Google, Amazon, Visa, Zomato along with some core companies like HPCL, BPCL, Mahindra etc. As for the highest package, IHI gave the PPO of about 1cr yen and for on-campus, Google gave the highest package. As for the placement, nearly 60-70% of students receive job offer by the end of 8th semester. As for me, I plan to receive my PPO offer and take it up later on.

From 5 sem onwards students eligible for doing internships and from 7 sem onwards students eligible for campus placements Google,amazon,infosys,adobe,flipkart etc .more than 1000 offers per year. Highest packages above 60 lakhs per annum. Average Package is about 30 lakhs per annum. 90 to 95 percentage of students are getting placed. After degree i have a plans to do startup company.

In third year student gets eligible for on campus internships offered by big companies like google and nvidia. from fourth year students gets to sit in placement offered by companies called to colllege if that student pass the eligibility criteria mostly based in CG in semesters. In 2024 highest package from our college was 53 LPA from computer science and engineering. the average package of our college was about 20 LPA for CSE department and can vary based on skills and branch. last year about 92% of Btech students gets on campus placements. In reality i haven't decided what i have to do after getting my degree. I wouls probably do job or opt for Mtech or MBA or maybe least probable i would like to prepare for UPSC.

I would like to compare the top NITs with new IITs like IIT Jodhpur on several parameters, first talking about the placements as that is your biggest concern. By new IITs here I mean IIT Jodhpur and its contemporary IITs.

Placements- Initially, the top NITs were a lot better in terms of placements. However, new IITs have shown tremendous growth and their placements have come at par with the top NITs. For 2023 B.Tech placements, the highest package offered at IIT Jodhpur stood at INR 53 LPA, the average package stood at INR 21.30 LPA and the median package stood at INR 16.50 LPA.

Campus Life- Both the top NITs and new IITs like IIT Jodhpur have a great campus life. Now that the new IITs have their own permanent campuses, they offer their students all the facilities.

Brand Value- Surely the new IITs do not carry as great a reputation as the old established IITs. However, the new IITs offer you the IIT tag which has a great reputation both inside and outside India.

Branch Choice- It is always better to choose the branch that you will enjoy studying. If you get a good branch at an NIT/new IIT, choose that instead of a mediocre branch at an old IIT. This opinion, however, is highly subjective. Some of my friends believe quite the opposite.

Alumni Network- The top NITs are way older than the new IITs. That is why their alumni network is way stronger.

I would say that unlike in the past, today both old NITs and new IITs are at par. You should consider all the above factors and also your locational preference before arriving at a decision. One of my seniors told me that new IITs are growing tremendously and will soon outperform the top NITs at this rate.

IIT Jodhpur CSE is the highest-placed branch for both BTech and MTech programs. One of my close friends completed her BTech in CSE recently and got placed with a decent package. On having a conversation with her and other friends who have completed the same course from other IITs, I arrived at a conclusion. While the CSE placements of almost every IIT are great, what sets IIT Jodhpur apart is the job satisfaction it offers.

Usually, CS students receive high packages but end up leaving their job later because their job does not satisfy them. IIT Jodhpur has a different scenario, the packages offered are lower than other institutes but the job satisfaction is higher. Most students end up with jobs they love and even find their batch mates and seniors in the same company thus increasing job satisfaction.

The faculty of the Electrical Department of IIT Jodhpur is highly learned and experienced in their respective fields
The electrical department has well-equipped laboratories and modern equipment and systems required for research work.
The placement scenario is decent and the highest CTC ranges from 12-15 LPA. A few recruiters who visited in the past to recruit students were INTEL, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, KEC International Ltd., and Vehicles Ltd. Most of the packages offered by these companies were below 10 LPA.
IIT Jodhpur has recently shifted to a new campus so its infrastructure and campus facilities have improved.
