Placement Experience:

In one batch, there are two placement seasons - Summer Internship- from August to January during the first year. The duration of the internship is April-May. During the send year the final placements starts from october to January. There are well-renowned companies that visit the campus along with top MNCs. The highest package tends to be between 40-50 Lakhs, and the average is around 20-25 Lakhs. All the students get placed in very good roles. Placement Experience:

The placement is on a rolling basis, which gives enough time for the students to prepare well for the company visiting. The committee gives 2-3 days of notice on when the company will be visiting the campus. They make sure to have sessions by alums/students who have worked or interned in the company that will be visiting so that the students are well prepared for the GD and PI. As of now the college has close the placement season with 100% batch of both 2022-24 and 2023-25. There are 2 placement seasons (summer internship and final placement). Summer placements start during 2nd term and final placement starts in 4-5 term. The number of companies visited IIM Ranchi was 110 and they made offers to all the students. There was 100 percent placement in our college. The highest package offered was 67 LPA for international and 32 LPA for domestic. The average placement was around 18 LPA. I was selected by one of the leading consulting firms and I will be working for that company in the future.

Placement Experience:

There are a total of 6 semesters in this college in the two years and students are eligible for final campus placements after completing their 3rd semester and the mandatory summer internship. Around 120+ companies visit the campus for final placements and give an average CTC of around INR 15 lakhs. The number of offers is restricted to 1 per person unless he/she has got more than 1 offer due to a clash of two companies. This can happen sometimes due to the placement being a running placement. Otherwise, it is mostly 1:1. The highest CTC is in the region of INR 30 LPA. All the students are get placed eventually unless and until you have done some grave mistake or have very low grades that companies are unwilling to give you a chance despite the placement committee's best efforts.

The placement statistics released by IIM Ranchi are not particularly fake but yes very exaggerated. For example, the recruiters who just recruited 2-3 students a couple of years ago are still added to the list of recruiters. This tactic is employed to show off the brands of top companies.

The CTC is calculated wrongly and also exaggerated. The same role offered by the same company to students of other B Schools is shown at IIM Ranchi to offer a CTC higher to its own students. This reality is wrong and not what the company promised. This has now come into the notice of many and IIM Ranchi Is slowly losing its reputation. The students feel cheated because many students chose Ranchi over other IIMs despite calls from them just because of its placement statistics.

One way to clear the misconception is to check the NIRF placement report. You can see from it that Ranchi lies below Trichy and even Udaipur. So do your part of research before finally choosing IIM Ranchi.

Is it worth choosing IIM Ranchi, Trichy for MBA in terms of placement and future scope?

Yes, you can easily choose IIM Ranchi or Trichy based on their placement statistics because the placement scenarios at both IIMs seem promising despite the lack of infrastructure and campus facilities. In many cases, Trichy and Ranchi have exchanged leads outside the ABC and LIK worlds. All can be overcome if you are taught by the best professors.

Elaborating further, IIM Trichy seems better than Ranchi or Rohtak to me. The reason being the superior teaching methods and its favorable location both for students as well as recruiters. Apart from Trichy, other IIMs are also doing fairly well compared to non-CAT MBA institutes. These are doing well with the help of sponsor IIMs which arrange faculty and placements. These in turn select their own Directors and invest in the infrastructure required in another 3–4 years as Trichy and Ranch have already done.

What is the placement scenario at VGSoM (IIT Kharagpur) when compared with new IIMs like Ranchi, Raipur, Kashipur, Trichy, Udaipur, and Rhotak?

These strong placement results demonstrate the success of VGSOM IIT Kharagpur in preparing its students for the job market and the value that employers place on its graduates.

Here is an individual's experience at IIT Roorkee, which was one in which he received admission to the institute in 2004 after having eight years of work experience. At that time, the management programs at IITs were relatively new and placements were not as strong as they are now. Despite this, he decided to attend IITR and focus on their studies and enjoying their MBA experience, rather than worrying about job prospects. Many of the old and new IIMs do not place as much emphasis on HR jobs or electives as XLRI and TISS. If you took a few HR electives and graduated from an old IIM, you may still be able to secure a decent HR job. However, attending XLRI or TISS would likely be a more practical choice for someone interested in a career in HR. New IIMs, including IIM Ranchi and IIM Indore, which now offer PGP HRM programs, tend to have fewer top general management or consulting roles available and almost no great HR roles.

An MBA in HRM is generally considered most useful from XLRI, TISS, SCMHRD, XIMB, and MDI. If you are considering an MBA in HR from IIM Raipur, Udaipur, Sambalpur, Jammu, Nagpur, Bodh Gaya, Trichy, or Vizag, it may not be the best decision.

I think the single most important reason why IIM Raipur and Ranchi are considered below IIM Udaipur is the lack of proper marketing. IIM Udaipur has managed to make its mark through enough marketing and promoting research culture. The IIMRs is also flawed in the sense that they are located in extremely poor economic states. The decision of choosing a college should be taken at an individual level. You can seek advice from others but not ask them to decide for you. Try to analyze what exactly you want from your MBA program. What is it you are seeking and how to achieve it? Once you are sure about that, college does not matter much.

Honesty both the IIMs you mentioned give an edge to each other. Still if I would have to choose one, I would go for IIM Udaipur because of its recent success stories. IIM Udaipur has seen a rise in international rankings like QS and FT. Earlier these rankings included only the top IIMs A, B and C. IIM Udaipur has proven its worth by appearing on such international rankings. It is also the youngest B-school in the “world” to be featured in the FT MiM Rankings.

IIM Udaipur is heaven for a research enthusiast. Its premium research culture is the reason for its recent rise in rankings. As far as placement is concerned, both the colleges have similar statistics. The table below has drawn a comparison between the two.

IIM Ranchi's 2023 placement season witnessed a 100% placement report. With 124 top recruiters participating. The highest package offered reached a remarkable INR 67 LPA (international), while the average package stood at INR 17.3 LPA. Sales & Marketing emerged as the most preferred sector , followed by Finance, IT Analytics, Strategy & Consulting, and Operations. The MBA-HR batch secured the highest package of INR 32.2 LPA. The MBA-BA batch received the highest average package of INR 22.3 LPA.IIM Ranchi Summer Internship Placements 2024 final report was also released. IIM Ranchi highest stipend stood at INR 3 Lakhs per month whereas IIM Ranchi average stipend stood at INR 1.15 lakhs for the MBA batch, INR 1.23 Lakhs for the MBA HR batch & INR 96.8K for the MBA BA batch.
