The facilities at IIM Ranchi for the Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) are quite impressive. The campus is newly built with modern classrooms that are air-conditioned and equipped with the latest technology. The library is spacious, offering a vast collection of books and resources. Additionally, there are various clubs and committees that keep the student life vibrant. The hostel facilities are also good; we get single rooms and the mess provides decent food. Overall, the environment is conducive to both learning and personal development.
Joining IIM Ranchi for the MBA program was definitely worth it for me. The curriculum is designed to give you a solid foundation in various business aspects and is pretty industry-relevant. I found the faculty to be very supportive and knowledgeable, which made understanding complex concepts much easier. Plus, the placement opportunities are fantastic; I got a summer internship that paid me around 1 lakh per month. Overall, the experience has been enriching, and I feel confident about my career prospects after this course.
If you believe that trying again will get you into a better institute, then go for it. But if not, focus on making the most out of your time at IIM R. I'll leave you with some inspiring words from Ghalib. Go ahead and make your decision without wondering "What if." Best of luck!
A fresher needs to be dedicated and put in significant effort to secure a good placement at IIM Ranchi. The rigorous MBA program equips us with essential skills, but staying active in clubs and committees also enhances our profile. I remember that the placement committee provided us with regular updates and practice sessions before the companies came for recruitment. With leading firms like HSBC and Samsung visiting, it’s vital to prepare well for the interviews and group discussions. Overall, staying on top of things and being involved can significantly impact placement outcomes.
Before diving into this question, I want to mention that I'm currently a PGDM student at IIM Ranchi. I believe those of us who are actually experiencing life here are best suited to talk about its value.
When we discuss whether something is worth it, it's pretty subjective. What's valuable to one might not be the same for someone else.
Talking about IIM Ranchi, it's the 9th in the IIM family and is growing super fast among the newer ones. The courses and academic challenges are on par with the older IIMs. Our classmates are as talented as those in any top B-school in India. Many of our professors have taught in the older IIMs, so their experience is solid. There's a lot happening year-round with student-led activities, giving everyone a chance to explore interests beyond academics. We also have top-notch sports facilities at the National Games Sports Complex. While we don't have a permanent campus yet, our hostel facilities are fantastic. We've been consistently excelling in both corporate and B-school competitions.
IIM Ranchi provides everything a top B-school does, plus you get the lifelong IIM brand, which is significant since most of us might not pursue further degrees.
To support my views, look at how T.I.M.E and Career Launcher rank B-schools in India. IIM Ranchi is the only new IIM to earn an AAA+ from T.I.M.E, alongside older IIMs like IIM I, IIM K, and IIM S, among others. Plus, Career Launcher places us in Cluster 2 with some of the older IIMs like IIM L, IIM I, and IIM K.
IIM Ranchi is definitely worth considering. Join us, and you'll be part of a lifelong brand!
Hey there! Let me give you a quick glimpse into life at IIM Ranchi.
Hostel Life:
We stay at the National Sports Housing Complex, which was used for the 2011 National Games in Ranchi. The place is stunning! Each of us gets our own room, and most have an attached bathroom or a balcony. The bathrooms have geysers because we need them almost all year round, and the balconies offer a beautiful view of the greenery around us. We share flats with friends, making it feel like living in our own apartments, complete with cleaning services, laundry, and drinking water on various floors.
Sports Facilities:
Being IIM Ranchi students, we have access to the Khelgaon Sports Complex. It's just a couple of minutes from our hostels and is perfect for preparing for inter-college competitions or hosting our own events.
Food:
Getting food is easy. We can order from tuck shops on campus until midnight and from the Night Canteen after that.
College Events:
We don't have a permanent campus, so our events like Radix, the Business Conclave, and TEDxIIMRanchi take place at top hotels in the city. It's a bit more work but loads of fun. Our institute has partnerships with all the top hotels and restaurants in town for any event, whether for college, clubs, or personal occasions.
Classroom Facilities:
The college building is right in the city, so everything you need, like groceries or clothes, is within 3 km. If you're not into mess food, you can grab a quick meal at nearby restaurants during breaks. The hostels and college are in different places, but buses run whenever needed. The bus ride, about 30 minutes, is perfect for catching up on readings or case studies before classes.
Trips and Breaks:
Ranchi's location is great for weekend escapes after busy weeks. There are plenty of waterfalls and dams to explore, with easy transportation. Since the hostel isn't in the city center, buses run to the city on weekends for shopping and fun, so no need for cabs or bikes. We also use the Khelgaon Community Hall for weekend hangouts and parties.
Living without a permanent campus has its challenges, but we all work together to create amazing memories!

Placements: IIM Ranchi has been achieving 100% placements for quite some time now. The main job roles offered are in sales and marketing, finance, strategy, and consulting. It's especially known for its HR program. Big names like Ultratech, Media.Net, ICICI, and Godrej frequently recruit from here. Last year, the top international salary was about ?58 lakh, while the highest domestic salary was ?28 lakh. The average domestic package was around ?15.48 lakh. The summer internships also see full placements, giving students ample industry exposure and knowledge.
Infrastructure: Even though IIM Ranchi operates on a temporary campus, it provides all necessary facilities. Students have single occupancy rooms at the Khelgaon Housing Society, and classes are held at Suchana Bhawan. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and there are computer rooms both in the hostel and at Suchana Bhawan. Libraries in both places are stocked with various books, and students can access online journals too. There's a cafeteria open until 3 am and a new tuck shop in Suchana Bhawan for our needs. A medical room is available 24/7 with essential medicines.
Faculty: The professors here are amazing and bring more than a decade of experience in their fields. Their teaching methods are really insightful and help us see the big picture in business. The courses are designed to involve participative learning, enhancing our understanding. We engage in live projects and industrial surveys, which prepare us for the corporate challenges ahead.
Other: I chose the MBA program because I'm really interested in marketing. I'm currently in my first year, and everything is going great. We just had a fantastic freshers party. Throughout the year, there are events like Agon, Rush, and Radix. Students can also study abroad through the STEP program. Those interested in corporate competitions have plenty of chances to showcase their skills.
Thanks again for asking!
