- Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
- Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
- The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.
Dislikes
- We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
- I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
- There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

I got admission in NIT Durgapur by my performance in JEE Mains(140) and class 12 Board marks(95%). Though I was also getting Metallurgy in Jadhavpur University through WBJEE but I chose NIT Dgp as it is just 20 km from my home. There was no interview process. You can also change your branch after 1st year by scoring good CGPA.(>9)

Most of the Infrastructure of college is old like library, labs, hostels. I have made a lot of friends, learnt a lot of things, learnt management, played and enjoyed a lot. If I have to say in a word then it's been amazing.

NIT DURGAPUR is not like any other college, this you'll realize only after you get into this college. Although there will be many things that will irritate you like anything but at the end if you get a good company of friends you'll manage. Just be sure that you'll have to encounter the discrimination done based on Bengalis and Non-bengalis. And the sad part is you can't help it as its tough to change this college in this aspect. So be ready to face some narrow-mindedness.Rest all will be good ,don't worry. ALL THE BEST.

College infrastructure and academic and institute rules still needs to be greatly improved ,having some bad cases over the years in our college Medical unit fault was there for the death of a final year student,for which director of college had to resign.
My overall experience was satisfactory..in the first year it was quite nice meeting with the seniors sometimes,getting introduced about different clubs in the college.Academics was all right in our college specially in our mechanical branch with some of distinguished faculties.mess food was neither good nor bad,so it was not a bad experience overall.the hostel rooms was somewhat OK,having LAN connection throughout..the partners were nice there,college was equipped with a central library,two large play grounds,a computer center ,a gymnasium,,annual techno fests used to be there,overall it was a fair experience in college life

The most important thing about this college is the NIT tag. The campus is huge but falls short of proper infrastructure. Hostels in particular need to be renovated. There are many new projects going on inside the campus. Those students who are inclined to research will not like the environment, while those who want to have some fun will be more than happy. Here, you have to work hard by yourself to excel, very little help is provided by college authorities and faculties.
Living on your own makes you learn a lot about the life.The friends made here make your life at campus fun. We will learn to find happiness in small things of life. NIT Durgapur is a memorable experience and the experience you will gain here will be with you all your life.

Overall , I would call it a serendipity - A Happy Accident. College definitely has some flaws , but the life out there was heavenly. So flaws did not matter much. It was a great thing that happened to me : NIT DURGAPUR.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur
- Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
- Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
- Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
- Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
- Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
- Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
- Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
Overall, NIT Durgapur is a great place if you are unable to make it to IITs.
