What would you prefer from IIM-A, B, C, and XLRI Jamshedpur for management courses?

Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

All four are the best, most renowned, highly established business schools in the country. Though to be a part of one of them will be dependent on various factors

Order of choice (highest to lowest)

Peer group: All of them give you a network of the sharpest and brightest minds, so all in the same boat.
Culture: IIM C, XLRI, IIM B & A tie at the same spot (personal opinion completely).
Location: Depends from person to person, so this is a ranking you'll have to do for yourself.
Specialization: Depends on what specialization you're looking for. IIM Ahmedabad gives you the best for Consulting, IIM Calcutta for finance.
Gut feeling: This is again, very personal, depending on what your dream college was when you started out.
Other criteria like packages, internships, fees, etc. won't be a differentiation in these because all of them would give you very similar job profiles, and CTC and have marginally different fees.

Ultimately, the institution that you choose should align with your career goals and aspirations. It's important to research and compare each institution carefully before making a decision.

How good is the Executive Program In Financial Risk Investment Management EPFRIM at IIM Calcutta?

Ridhima AiriManagement Consultant | Footballer | Quizzer | IIT-Delhi Alumnus

Any course offered by an institute like IIM Calcutta is guaranteed to be of the highest quality and have significant industry relevance. Instead of this course, it is recommended that you take the CAT and then enroll in the flagship PGDM program at IIM Calcutta. That would be entirely consistent with your desire to work in investment banking.

The recent financial crisis was largely caused by managers' inability to fully comprehend and manage the operational risks of the new generation of derivatives. Future finance managers, it is believed, must be fully equipped with the mathematical and conceptual theories, as well as best practices, that go into the creation and management of such innovative products.
The IIMC faculty combines academic excellence with top management industry experience. IIMC also hires international faculty from top business schools. The IIMC certification and alumni network help participants advance in their careers. The program is only for working professionals, and there will be no campus placement after this course.

Is PGCGM by IIM Calcutta a good course?

Ravneet KaurWorks with Asia's largest education & training company

PGCGM is an excellent course if you want an IIM certification but don't want to leave your job. The learning is the same, and the faculty is the same; the only difference is that this is taught in a virtual online classroom rather than you sitting in a classroom in Calcutta. It also includes three campus visits, so you can get a feel for the campus.

Most people struggle to get into an IIM, and the PGCGM course costs 3.5 lakh versus 31 lakh for ISB's PGP Pro course.

How is the experience at the EPBM program offered by IIM Calcutta?

Prashant MantriStudied at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (Graduated 2020)

My friend has undertaken this course and shared her experience with the same.

The course is not for those who come with false expectations like placement offers and switching jobs. Basically, it accelerates your career and does not change it.
The eligibility criteria for the course is not very tough so you can see all kinds of people here. Some might even crib the course.
If you are already working in the technology field and earning average or above average and have no intentions of switching industries, then this course will be of little use to you.
This course is only for learning or if you want to decide on your MBA.
This course is only a certification and not a degree program.
The faculty of this course is top-notch and renders premium quality classes.
After completion of the course you'll get access to the community of alumni of LDP courses.

So you need to check your priorities before enrolling for this course. Make it solely a learning experience and you are good to go.

What are the best courses to take in IIM Calcutta?

Seeekanth ReddyMBA from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (Graduated 2018)

My brother is in IIM Calcutta and over the period of 2 years he has studied many valuable courses. But 3 of them top the list of his favorites.

Statistics for Management: Taught by Prof. Rahul Mukerjee, this course is a mandatory Term-I course. More than the subject itself it’s the professor that makes it an amazing experience. He is the recipient of many national awards and has taught all over the world at reputed universities like Harvard.
Options, Futures and Derivatives: IIM Calcutta is without a doubt the finance campus of India. The finance faculty is the best you can get and this course does justice to finance completely. It’s quite a tough subject based on derivatives and technical finance. But for a true finance lover, it’s the best. It is taught by Prof. Binay Bhushan Chakrabarti (BBC) who was the Gold Medalist of the Batch of 1980 from IIM Calcutta.
Management of Self: Another eye-catching course at IIM Calcutta is Management of Self taught by Prof. Leena Chatterjee. She is a motherly figure in college. This is the only course here that teaches you about nothing but your own self. It’s a sort of personality grooming course that requires you to take a few personality tests and write an autobiography. This course helps you get more familiar with yourself and overcome internal struggles. It’s a Term-V elective course.

Although all courses offered at IIM Calcutta have their own benefits, these 3 are among the best maybe because of the respective professors.
