Ques. What is the difference between the HI and VI variants of this programme at BHU?
Ans. The HI variant (PGH719) trains teachers to teach social sciences and humanities to students with Hearing Impairment, incorporating sign language, visual learning tools, and lip-reading support. Candidates must select the appropriate variant based on their career interest while applying through CAP-PG 2026.
Ques. How competitive is admission to B.Ed Special Education (Social Sciences and Humanities) at BHU?
Ans. The programme has moderate competition. In CUET PG 2025, the Round 1 cutoff was 121 for EWS, 114 for OBC, 112 for General, 81 for PwD, 75 for ST, and 64 for SC. In 2024, the General category Round 1 cutoff was 142. This is relatively more accessible than the Languages specialisation but slightly more competitive than the Sciences specialisation.
Ques. What career options are available after completing B.Ed Special Education (Social Sciences and Humanities) from BHU?
Ans. Graduates can work as special education teachers for social sciences and humanities in special schools, inclusive schools, and government-aided institutions for students with disabilities. Further studies in M.Ed (Special Education) are also possible.
Ques. Is RCI registration required after completing this programme?
Ans. Yes, graduates of B.Ed Special Education programmes are required to register with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) to practice as special educators. BHU's B.Ed Special Education programme is RCI-recognised, making graduates eligible for RCI registration. This registration is mandatory for employment in government special schools and rehabilitation centres.
Ques. Can a humanities or arts graduate apply for this programme even without a science background?
Ans. Yes, this programme is particularly well-suited for graduates from humanities, arts, and social science backgrounds. The minimum eligibility is a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). Candidates with a background in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, or other humanities subjects are especially well-positioned for this specialisation, as the subject pedagogy aligns with their undergraduate studies.
