OUAT B.Tech (Ag. Eng.) FAQs

Ques. What is the scope of B.Tech Agricultural Engineering after graduation?

Ans. B.Tech Agricultural Engineering graduates have excellent career prospects in various sectors including agricultural equipment manufacturing, government agricultural departments, research institutions, and private agricultural companies. They can work as design engineers, project engineers, or agricultural consultants. Many graduates also pursue higher studies (M.Tech) or establish their own agricultural equipment businesses. The course prepares students for roles in farm mechanization, irrigation system design, and post-harvest technology management.

Ques. Is the entrance examination difficult? What is the syllabus?

Ans. The OUAT entrance examination is moderately challenging and covers Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at 12th standard level. The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions (66 marks in Physics, 66 in Chemistry, and 68 in Mathematics) to be completed in 2 hours. There is no negative marking. The syllabus includes mechanics, thermodynamics, organic and inorganic chemistry, algebra, trigonometry, and coordinate geometry. Regular practice with previous year question papers and mock tests significantly improves performance.

Ques. What is the difference between general seat and cost-sharing seat?

Ans. General seats are government-funded with lower fees (Rs. 59,000 for the entire course), while cost-sharing seats are partially funded by the government with higher fees (Rs. 1,50,500). Fees and Financial Aid:

The fee structure vary from year to year. Our time it was around 550000 including all the hostel fee, mess fees or other miscellaneous fees. There are two types of seats available one is cost sharing and another is free seats. I got cost sharing so I had to pay 220000 extra which is 55000 per year. You will have all kinds of scholarship if you belong to any category or a girl or your family income is lower than a certain benchmark amount. It's a government college so that you will have the internship opportunity also.

Student Snaps:

Fees and Financial Aid:

The cost to study is very high considering a government college. At admission time the cost is around 115000 for a cost-sharing and 75000 for general seats. Excluding the hostel fees which is 36000 per year. And for further readmission, it is 60500 for cost sharing and 22000 for general seats. There is Avery good scope to get govt. Funded scholarships like e-medhabruti for 1st yr which will benefit up to 40000 and post matric scholarship which will benefit 40000/yr. For ICAR students which come from the ICAR quota which is a general seat, by the way, have scholarship 10000/yr. Students can get placement on farm machinery industries or food processing and irrigation and drainage engg. Branches.Although the package is not that attractive.
