  • Answer Key & Response Sheet: OUAT will release the answer key and individual response sheet on July 11, 2026. You can challenge any incorrect answer between July 11 and July 13, 2026. In 2025, the answer key was released approximately 9 days after the exam.
  • Result (Percentile Scores): OUAT 2026 result in percentile scores is expected on July 30, 2026. The intimation-cum-rank card will be released on August 4, 2026, with rank card download opening August 6, 2026. In 2025, the result was declared on July 5, 2025 — the 2026 timeline is shifted about four weeks due to the exam rescheduling.
  • Counselling: OUAT 2026 counselling is expected to begin around August 10, 2026, after rank cards are released. Approximately 4 rounds will be held between August and November 2026 for 665 seats across 9 participating colleges. Final admissions are expected by August 20, 2026.

What is OUAT 2026?

The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) is a premier state agricultural university in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Established in 1962, OUAT is the main institution for agricultural education in Odisha and runs undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in agriculture and allied sciences. It is a member of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and consistently ranks among the top agricultural universities in India.

OUAT 2026 refers to the UG Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) for admission to undergraduate courses at OUAT constituent colleges for the 2026–27 academic session. This is a state-level exam conducted by the university itself. Every year, thousands of students from Odisha compete for seats in 7 different UG programs across 9 constituent colleges. The total regular seat intake is 665 seats, with additional supernumerary seats for candidates from J&K, Ladakh, and NRI/PIO categories.

OUAT is the primary route for government-funded agricultural college admissions in Odisha. Students from other states can also apply but are limited to the 15% ICAR/VCI quota and cost-sharing seats. The merit list is based on a composite score that combines entrance exam performance with Class 10 and Class 12 board marks, giving students with strong board results a real advantage — board marks carry 50% of the total merit weight.

The OUAT 2026 exam was originally scheduled for June 9–11, 2026. It was rescheduled to July 1 and 2, 2026 due to unavoidable circumstances. The exam is in CBT mode, with 200 MCQs in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics, to be answered in 2 hours. There is no negative marking.

OUAT 2026 Exam Rescheduled: What You Should Know

The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology originally scheduled the OUAT 2026 UG entrance exam for June 9, 10, and 11, 2026. The university postponed the exam and issued a revised schedule with new dates of July 1 and 2, 2026. The exam window also changed from three days to two.

Along with the new exam dates, several associated timelines were revised. Here is a summary of the key changes:

  • The admit card was released on June 24–25, 2026 — about one week before the rescheduled exam, instead of the earlier planned release around June 1.
  • The answer key and response sheet will be published on July 11, 2026, with a challenge window until July 13.
  • The result (percentile scores) will be declared on July 30, 2026.
  • The intimation-cum-rank card will be available from August 4, 2026.
  • The Application Form B deadline was extended to July 6, 2026, allowing candidates to submit course preferences after appearing in the exam.

All other elements of the exam remain unchanged — pattern, syllabus, number of seats, eligibility criteria, and fee structure are the same as originally planned. The exam is still in CBT mode in English only, with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and a choice between Biology and Mathematics.

If you appeared in the OUAT 2026 exam today (July 1, 2026) or will appear tomorrow (July 2), make sure you submit Form B before July 6, 2026. This is the course and college preference form needed for counselling — it is mandatory regardless of your rank.

OUAT 2026 Application Form: Process and Fee

The OUAT 2026 application was a two-stage process — Form A (registration) and Form B (course and college preferences). Form A is now closed. However, Form B remains open until July 6, 2026, and is mandatory for seat allotment during counselling.

Application Form A (Closed)

Form A was open from April 17, 2026 to May 11, 2026. In Form A, candidates provided personal and academic details, selected exam cities, uploaded documents, and paid the application fee. Completing Form A was the requirement to download the admit card and appear in the exam.

The OUAT 2026 Form A window is closed. Candidates who missed the Form A deadline cannot apply for the 2026–27 session.

Application Form B — Still Open Until July 6, 2026

Form B is the second stage where candidates submit their course and college preferences for seat allotment. It is separate from Form A and must be submitted even by candidates who have already appeared in the exam. Key points about Form B:

  • It asks for your preferred courses and colleges in order of priority
  • Document uploads — Class 10, Class 12, domicile, and category certificates — are also required in Form B
  • The last date is July 6, 2026
  • Without Form B, your OUAT score will not be considered for seat allotment

How to Complete Form B

  • Go to ouat.ac.in and click on the Application Form B link

Subject Number of Questions Total Marks Compulsory?
Physics 66 66 Yes — for all
Chemistry 66 66 Yes — for all
Biology OR Mathematics (choose one) 68 68 One must be chosen
Total 200 200

Source: OUAT UG Prospectus 2026–27

Key Exam Pattern Highlights

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes)
  • Question Type: MCQs with 4 options each
  • Marking: +1 for correct answer; 0 for wrong or unattempted
  • Negative Marking: None
  • Medium: English only

Biology vs Mathematics: Which Section to Choose?

You must choose your optional section when registering in Form A. Here is how to decide:

  • Choose Biology if you are applying for B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Horticulture, B.Sc. Forestry, B.F.Sc., B.Sc. Community Science, or B.V.Sc. & A.H. — all these programs prefer a PCB background.
  • Choose Mathematics if you are applying for B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering, which requires a PCM background.

Biology carries 34% of total marks (68 questions) and is the highest-weighted single section. Agriculture-stream students should prioritise Biology heavily to maximise their score.

How Is the OUAT 2026 Merit Rank Calculated?

Your entrance exam score alone does not decide your final rank. OUAT uses a composite merit formula:

  • 50% from the OUAT 2026 entrance exam score
  • 25% from Class 12 board marks
  • 25% from Class 10 board marks

This means board performance carries as much total weight as the entrance exam. A student with strong Class 10 and 12 marks can outrank someone who scored higher in the entrance exam but had weaker boards.

OUAT 2026 Syllabus: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics

The OUAT 2026 syllabus is based on the Class 11 and Class 12 science curriculum as prescribed by the Odisha CHSE (Council of Higher Secondary Education) and NCERT. NCERT textbooks cover the entire OUAT syllabus — no additional reference books are strictly needed for the entrance component. Questions test conceptual understanding, not advanced derivations.

Tie-Breaking Rules

If two candidates have the same composite merit score, OUAT resolves the tie in this order:

  • Higher marks in the OUAT 2026 entrance exam
  • If still tied: higher marks in Class 12
  • If still tied: higher marks in Class 10

OUAT 2026 Score Calculation and Marks vs Rank

Because the OUAT rank depends on a composite score (entrance + board marks), two candidates with the same entrance exam score can have very different ranks. Students with strong Class 10 and 12 results have a built-in advantage. Here is how the scoring works and what rank range you can expect based on your performance.

Example of Composite Score Calculation

Suppose a candidate scores 140 out of 200 in the entrance exam, 85% in Class 10, and 82% in Class 12:

  • Entrance exam contribution: (140/200) × 100 × 0.50 = 35.0
  • Class 10 contribution: 85 × 0.25 = 21.25
  • Class 12 contribution: 82 × 0.25 = 20.5
  • Composite score = 35.0 + 21.25 + 20.5 = 76.75 out of 100

Expected OUAT 2026 Composite Score vs Rank (Based on 2025 Trends)

Composite Score Range (out of 100) Expected Overall Rank (General)
80 and above Top 100
75 – 80 100 – 400
70 – 75 400 – 800
65 – 70 800 – 1,500
60 – 65 1,500 – 3,000
Below 60 3,000 and above

Note: Actual ranks depend on total candidates, 2026 paper difficulty, and composite score distribution. These are indicative estimates based on 2025 trends. Official rank data will be published with the rank card on August 4, 2026.

Category-Wise Rank Expectations

  • General category: Ranks up to ~1,000 generally secure admission in B.Sc. Agriculture or B.V.Sc. Rank 1,000–4,000 may get Agriculture, Horticulture, or Forestry at regional colleges.
  • SC/ST candidates: Typically get admission at about 1.5 to 2× the General category closing rank, given lower qualifying cutoffs and reserved seats.

OUAT 2026 Cutoff

The OUAT 2026 cutoff works at two levels. The qualifying cutoff is the minimum entrance exam score to appear in the merit list. The admission cutoff is the minimum composite score of the last candidate allotted a seat in each program, determined during counselling in August 2026.

OUAT 2026 Qualifying Cutoff (Entrance Exam)

Category Minimum Marks in Entrance Exam Percentage
General / OBC / EWS 100 out of 200 50%
SC / ST 80 out of 200 40%

Expected OUAT 2026 Admission Cutoff by Program (Reference: 2024–25 Trends)

B.V.Sc. & A.H. in 2024 had a closing merit percentile of around 74.87 for the General category, making it one of the most competitive OUAT programs. The table below shows expected composite score ranges based on historical trends:

Program and College Expected Composite Score Range (General)
B.V.Sc. & A.H. — College of Vet. Science, Bhubaneswar 75.0 – 80.0
B.Sc. Agriculture — College of Agriculture, Bhubaneswar 72.5 – 77.5
B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering — CAET, Bhubaneswar 70.0 – 75.0
B.Sc. Agriculture — College of Agriculture, Chiplima 68.0 – 73.0
B.Sc. Agriculture — College of Agriculture, Bhawanipatna 67.0 – 72.0
B.Sc. Horticulture — College of Horticulture, Chiplima 65.0 – 70.0
B.Sc. Forestry — College of Forestry, Bhubaneswar 62.0 – 68.0
B.F.Sc. — College of Fisheries, Rangeilunda 59.0 – 65.0
B.Sc. Community Science — Bhubaneswar 57.0 – 63.0

These cutoff ranges are indicative, based on 2024–25 data and historical trends. Official OUAT 2026 cutoffs will be released during August 2026 counselling rounds.

Factors Affecting OUAT 2026 Cutoff

  • Paper difficulty: A tougher paper lowers raw entrance scores, which can reduce the entrance-exam component of the composite score
  • Number of qualified candidates: More students clearing the qualifying cutoff means more competition at counselling
  • Seat availability: Limited seats in B.V.Sc. and B.Sc. Agriculture Bhubaneswar push their cutoffs higher than programs at regional colleges
  • Board marks distribution: Since board marks make up 50% of the composite score, high-board-mark years see higher cutoff thresholds

OUAT 2026 Counselling Process

OUAT 2026 counselling is expected to begin around August 10, 2026, after rank cards are released on August 4–6. Counselling is the final step where your rank is matched with your preferences from Form B to give you a seat. Final admission to constituent colleges is expected by August 20, 2026.

OUAT 2026 Preparation Tips

The OUAT 2026 exam is underway today (July 1–2, 2026). For students who will appear in future cycles or wish to understand exam strategy, here is what you need to know to prepare effectively for OUAT:

1. Master NCERT Textbooks First

OUAT questions are almost entirely from NCERT Class 11 and 12. Completing NCERT Biology, Chemistry, and Physics thoroughly — including in-text questions, examples, and chapter exercises — covers the entire OUAT syllabus. Do not pick up heavy reference books before finishing NCERT.

2. Prioritise Biology (PCB Students)

Biology carries 68 marks — the single largest section — and is also the most scoring for well-prepared students. Spend at least 40% of revision time on Biology. High-yield chapters are:

  • Genetics and Evolution: Mendelian genetics, DNA replication, mutations, Hardy-Weinberg law
  • Ecology: Ecosystems, biodiversity, population ecology, environmental issues
  • Biotechnology: rDNA technology, PCR, transgenic organisms, ELISA
  • Human Physiology: Digestion, circulation, excretion, neural and hormonal coordination

3. Attempt Every Question — No Negative Marking

Since there is no negative marking, you should always attempt all 200 questions. If unsure, eliminate obviously wrong options and pick from what remains. A random guess still gives you a 25% chance of scoring — never leave a blank.

4. Your Board Marks Already Count

Remember that 50% of your merit comes from board marks. If you already have strong Class 10 and Class 12 results, you need a moderate entrance score to get a good OUAT rank. Students with 85%+ in both boards need around 125–140 marks in the entrance exam to comfortably target the College of Agriculture, Bhubaneswar.

5. Time Management During the Exam

You have 120 minutes for 200 questions — an average of 36 seconds per question. Use this strategy:

  • Start with the subject you are most confident in to build momentum
  • Allocate roughly 40 minutes per subject section
  • Mark difficult questions for review and move on — never get stuck
  • Use the final 10 minutes to revisit marked questions and fill any blanks

6. Solve Previous Year OUAT Papers

OUAT follows consistent question patterns. Solving 3–5 years of OUAT previous year papers helps you understand difficulty level per subject, commonly repeated topics, and typical trap options in MCQs. Previous year papers are available in the admissions section of ouat.ac.in.

FAQs on OUAT 2026

Ques. What is OUAT CEE 2026?

Ans. OUAT CEE stands for Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology Combined Entrance Examination. It is a state-level undergraduate entrance exam conducted by OUAT, Bhubaneswar, every year for admission to B.Sc. Agriculture, B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.F.Sc., B.Sc. Forestry, B.Sc. Horticulture, B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering), and B.Sc. Community Science across 9 constituent colleges in Odisha. The OUAT UG CEE 2026 is being conducted on July 1 and 2, 2026.

Ques. What is the new OUAT 2026 exam date?

Ans. The OUAT 2026 UG entrance exam has been rescheduled to July 1 and 2, 2026. The original dates of June 9–11, 2026 were postponed by the university due to unavoidable circumstances. The exam is in CBT mode with 200 MCQs — Physics 66, Chemistry 66, Biology or Mathematics 68 — in 2 hours, with no negative marking.

Ques. What is OUAT 2026 Form B last date?

Ans. The OUAT 2026 Application Form B last date is July 6, 2026. Form B is where you submit your course and college preferences for seat allotment during counselling. It is separate from Form A and must be submitted even if you have already appeared in the exam. Without Form B, you will not be eligible for seat allotment — even if you score well.

Ques. When will OUAT 2026 result be declared?

Ans. The OUAT 2026 result in percentile scores will be declared on July 30, 2026. The intimation-cum-rank card will be released on August 4, 2026, and rank card download will open from August 6, 2026. Counselling is expected from August 10, 2026. In 2025, the result was declared on July 5 — the 2026 timeline is shifted about four weeks due to the exam rescheduling.

Ques. What is the OUAT 2026 exam pattern?

Ans. OUAT 2026 is a CBT exam with 200 MCQs worth 200 marks, to be completed in 2 hours. The subject distribution is: Physics — 66 questions (compulsory), Chemistry — 66 questions (compulsory), Biology or Mathematics — 68 questions (choose one based on your Class 12 subjects). There is no negative marking. The exam is in English only.

Ques. How is the OUAT merit rank calculated?

Ans. The OUAT merit rank uses a composite formula: 50% from the OUAT entrance exam score, 25% from Class 12 board marks, and 25% from Class 10 board marks. This means your board exam marks matter as much as your entrance performance. A student with strong board results can secure a good rank even with a moderate entrance score — this is unique to OUAT among major state-level entrance exams.

Ques. What is the OUAT 2026 eligibility criteria?

Ans. You must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2026, and must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics. The minimum aggregate in Class 12 is 50% for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 40% for SC/ST. You should be a permanent resident of Odisha (Odia as MIL in Class 10 or parents as Odisha residents). Candidates from outside Odisha can apply through the ICAR/VCI quota and cost-sharing seats.

Ques. How many seats are available in OUAT 2026?

Horticulture — 78, B.V.Sc. & A.H. — 80, B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering — 64, B.Sc. Forestry — 50, B.F.Sc. — 48, and B.Sc. Community Science — 32. Of the 665 seats, 395 are government seats and 270 are cost-sharing. An additional 10 supernumerary seats are available under PMSSS for J&K and Ladakh students.

Ques. Is there negative marking in OUAT 2026?

Ans. No. There is no negative marking in OUAT 2026. Each correct answer gets +1 mark; wrong or unattempted questions get 0. Because there is no penalty, you should attempt all 200 questions. If you are unsure about an answer, eliminate wrong options and make your best guess — never leave a blank. A random guess still gives you a 25% chance of getting 1 mark.

Ques. When does OUAT 2026 counselling start?

Ans. OUAT 2026 counselling is expected to begin around August 10, 2026, after rank cards are released on August 4–6. You must have submitted Form B (course and college preferences) by July 6, 2026 to be eligible. OUAT typically conducts 3–4 counselling rounds between August and November, followed by a spot round for remaining seats. Final admissions are expected by August 20, 2026.

Ques. Can students from outside Odisha apply for OUAT 2026?

Ans. Yes. Students from other states can apply for OUAT 2026 through two routes. First, the ICAR/VCI quota reserves 15% of seats for outside-state candidates. Second, 270 of the 665 seats are cost-sharing seats (higher fee — around Rs. 1.5 lakh per year vs Rs. 59,000 for government seats) open to all-India candidates. Odisha domicile candidates get priority for the 395 state-quota government seats.

Ques. What is the expected OUAT 2026 cutoff?

Ans. The OUAT 2026 qualifying cutoff (minimum entrance exam marks) is expected to be 100 out of 200 (50%) for General category and 80 out of 200 (40%) for SC/ST. The admission cutoff (closing composite score for specific colleges) is much higher — in 2024, B.Sc. Agriculture at College of Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, had a closing composite score of around 72.5–77.5 out of 100, and B.V.Sc. was even higher. Official OUAT 2026 cutoffs will be released during August 2026 counselling.
