What is OUAT 2026?

The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) is a premier state agricultural university in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Established in 1962, OUAT is the main institution for agricultural education in Odisha and runs undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in agriculture and allied sciences. It is a member of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and consistently ranks among the top agricultural universities in India.

OUAT 2026 refers to the UG Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) for admission to undergraduate courses at OUAT constituent colleges for the 2026–27 academic session. This is a state-level exam conducted by the university itself. Every year, thousands of students from Odisha compete for seats in 7 different UG programs across 9 constituent colleges. The total regular seat intake is 665 seats, with additional supernumerary seats for candidates from J&K, Ladakh, and NRI/PIO categories.

OUAT is the primary route for government-funded agricultural college admissions in Odisha. Students from other states can also apply but are limited to the 15% ICAR/VCI quota and cost-sharing seats. The merit list is based on a composite score that combines entrance exam performance with Class 10 and Class 12 board marks, giving students with strong board results a real advantage — board marks carry 50% of the total merit weight.

The OUAT 2026 exam was originally scheduled for June 9–11, 2026. It was rescheduled to July 1 and 2, 2026 due to unavoidable circumstances. The exam is in CBT mode, with 200 MCQs in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics, to be answered in 2 hours. There is no negative marking.

OUAT 2026 Exam Rescheduled: What You Should Know

The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology originally scheduled the OUAT 2026 UG entrance exam for June 9, 10, and 11, 2026. The university postponed the exam and issued a revised schedule with new dates of July 1 and 2, 2026. The exam window also changed from three days to two.

Along with the new exam dates, several associated timelines were revised. Here is a summary of the key changes:

• The admit card was released on June 24–25, 2026 — about one week before the rescheduled exam, instead of the earlier planned release around June 1.
• The answer key and response sheet will be published on July 11, 2026, with a challenge window until July 13.
• The result (percentile scores) will be declared on July 30, 2026.
• The intimation-cum-rank card will be available from August 4, 2026.
• The Application Form B deadline was extended to July 6, 2026, allowing candidates to submit course preferences after appearing in the exam.

All other elements of the exam remain unchanged — pattern, syllabus, number of seats, eligibility criteria, and fee structure are the same as originally planned. The exam is still in CBT mode in English only, with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and a choice between Biology and Mathematics.

OUAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for OUAT, you must meet all eligibility conditions for your chosen program. Eligibility requirements are checked during document verification at counselling — applying without meeting them can lead to cancellation of your seat even after selection.

For B.Sc. Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, B.F.Sc., and B.Sc. Community Science

• Qualification: Must have passed Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board
• Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology in Class 12
• Minimum marks: 50% aggregate for General/OBC/EWS; 40% for SC/ST candidates
• Age: Minimum 17 years as of December 31, 2026; no upper age limit

For B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering

• Qualification: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM)

Domicile and State Quota

OUAT primarily serves Odisha-domicile candidates. State-quota seats go to Odisha residents first. Candidates must have passed Class 10 with Odia as Modern Indian Language (MIL), or their parents must be permanent residents of Odisha (certificate required from Tahasildar or higher). Students from other states can apply under the ICAR/VCI quota (15% of seats) and cost-sharing seats.

OUAT 2026 Application Form: Process and Fee

The OUAT 2026 application was a two-stage process — Form A (registration) and Form B (course and college preferences). Form A is now closed. However, Form B remains open until July 6, 2026, and is mandatory for seat allotment during counselling.

Application Form A (Closed)

Form A was open from April 17, 2026 to May 11, 2026. In Form A, candidates provided personal and academic details, selected exam cities, uploaded documents, and paid the application fee. Completing Form A was the requirement to download the admit card and appear in the exam.

The OUAT 2026 Form A window is closed. Candidates who missed the Form A deadline cannot apply for the 2026–27 session.

Application Form B — Still Open Until July 6, 2026

Form B is the second stage where candidates submit their course and college preferences for seat allotment. It is separate from Form A and must be submitted even by candidates who have already appeared in the exam. Key points about Form B:

The OUAT 2026 syllabus is based on the Class 11 and Class 12 science curriculum as prescribed by the Odisha CHSE (Council of Higher Secondary Education) and NCERT. NCERT textbooks cover the entire OUAT syllabus — no additional reference books are strictly needed for the entrance component. Questions test conceptual understanding, not advanced derivations.

OUAT 2026 Admit Card

The OUAT 2026 admit card was released on June 24–25, 2026 — about a week before the rescheduled exam. All registered candidates downloaded their hall ticket from the official OUAT admission portal using their application number and password. No hall ticket was sent by post or email.

OUAT 2026 Preparation Tips

The OUAT 2026 exam is underway today (July 1–2, 2026). For students who will appear in future cycles or wish to understand exam strategy, here is what you need to know to prepare effectively for OUAT:

1. Master NCERT Textbooks First

OUAT questions are almost entirely from NCERT Class 11 and 12. Completing NCERT Biology, Chemistry, and Physics thoroughly — including in-text questions, examples, and chapter exercises — covers the entire OUAT syllabus. Do not pick up heavy reference books before finishing NCERT.

2. Prioritise Biology (PCB Students)

Biology carries 68 marks — the single largest section — and is also the most scoring for well-prepared students. Spend at least 40% of revision time on Biology. High-yield chapters are:

• Genetics and Evolution: Mendelian genetics, DNA replication, mutations, Hardy-Weinberg law
• Ecology: Ecosystems, biodiversity, population ecology, environmental issues
• Biotechnology: rDNA technology, PCR, transgenic organisms, ELISA
• Human Physiology: Digestion, circulation, excretion, neural and hormonal coordination

3. Attempt Every Question — No Negative Marking

Since there is no negative marking, you should always attempt all 200 questions. If unsure, eliminate obviously wrong options and pick from what remains. A random guess still gives you a 25% chance of scoring — never leave a blank.

4. Your Board Marks Already Count

Remember that 50% of your merit comes from board marks. If you already have strong Class 10 and Class 12 results, you need a moderate entrance score to get a good OUAT rank. Students with 85%+ in both boards need around 125–140 marks in the entrance exam to comfortably target the College of Agriculture, Bhubaneswar.

5. Time Management During the Exam

You have 120 minutes for 200 questions — an average of 36 seconds per question. Use this strategy:

• Start with the subject you are most confident in to build momentum
• Allocate roughly 40 minutes per subject section
• Mark difficult questions for review and move on — never get stuck
• Use the final 10 minutes to revisit marked questions and fill any blanks
