IIT Indore Ph.D Admission Criteria

Applicants would be admitted based on their scores in master’s / bachelor’s and entrance exams. Upon selection, Indian applicants would be called for an interview round and/or a screening test. 

International applicants would be called for an online written test/interview round based on their scores in TOEFL / IELTS / GATE.

Candidates must keep the following documents ready during the interview process for the document verification process. Admission Categories: 

  • Fellowship Awardee (FA) – An awardee from funding agencies like CSIR, UGC, NBHM, DST. Or a JRF/SRF project staff working in a funded project in IIT Indore.
  • Teaching Assistantship (TA) – Scholarship under MHRD guidelines.
  • Sponsored without Institute Scholarship (SW) – Sponsored candidate from R&D organisation or Industry. 
  • Institute Staff (IS) – Staff member of IIT Indore.
  • Defence (DF) – Personnel serving Armed forces without institute scholarship.
  • College Teacher (CT) – Permanent Teacher of Sponsoring College/University without scholarship

A candidate has to submit the signed soft-copy of the application along with State Bank Collect receipt, recent photograph and self- attested relevant Certificates. For SW candidates:

  • No Objection Certificate
  • Experience Certificate
  • Last 3 months’ salary slip
  • Employer’s PAN Card

Application form can be filled in online mode and detailed process is given below

  • Visit the official website i.e. www.iiti.ac.in
  • Click on the link “Apply online for PhD Admission”
  • Select your discipline
  • Application form will appear
  • Fill all the details i.e. personal, educational, entrance exams score and work experience.
  • Pay the application fee of INR 100 to State Bank Collect. 
  • Submit the application form and take the print out of the application form.
  • Hard copy of application form will be checked during the interview along with the other documents.

IIT Indore Ph.D Duration

This is a 4 year full-time degree, where the 1st year is all about coursework. The second year is for deciding on research topics and tools for conducting the research. The applicants in the third and fourth year take forth their research and are supposed to submit it by the end of 4th year. Along with thesis submission, there is also a viva conducted by a professor to approve the thesis of the student.

IIT Indore Phd Stipend

The Phd applicants in the first 2 years are offered INR 30,000 per month as part of the stipend for research. While the 3rd and 4th year students are offered INR 34,000 per month. This amount is set by UGC and applicants who qualify for JRF are only offered this amount.

Ans. The interviews are being conducted online for IIT Indore Phd admission 2022. The interviews are online for both Indian and international applicants. The Department of Computer Science & Engineering has proposed to conduct interviews via Google Meet.

Ques. Which research areas available for IIT Indore Phd in Civil Engineering?

Ans. There are two types of research areas available in Phd at IIT Indore in Civil Engineering Department are as follows:

Ans. Yes, an applicant can apply for two specializations of Phd at IIT Indore. He/she will have to apply separately for each specialization chosen. In this case the applicant will be submitting two applications separately.

Ans. Some departments of IIT Indore offering Phd conduct an additional written test along with the interview round before final verdict on admission. This decision is up to the discretion of the concerned Department. Also not all departments conduct written tests.

Ques. How can foreign applicants apply for IIT Indore Phd admission?

Ans. There is a separate application portal for foreign applicants - Common Application Portal. These students have to submit their applications with the required documents and an application fee of USD 30 through RTGS. The selected applicants would get an intimation on their dashboard and consequently will be called for an interview round.

Ans. No, there is no TA or DA extended by IIT Indore for attending Phd interview round. This year applicants have to appear for the interviews online only because of COVID-19 restrictions in the country.
