Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) is a reputed public university in Jammu & Kashmir. It is located in Awantipora, Pulwama region. It was established on November 7, 2005 by the J&K state government.
IUST offers B.Tech programs in 6 engineering disciplines, including BBA, B.Sc. AFM and BA English (Hons.) programs at the undergraduate level. It offers MBA, MCA, M. Tech Food Technology, M.Sc. and MA programs at the PG level in various disciplines. It also offers Ph.D. programs various fields.
- B. Tech regular candidates must apply for JEE Main (Paper-I) prior to filling the IUST application form.
- M. Tech candidates must apply with a valid GATE score, in the absence of which the IUST entrance test for the particular program must be taken.
- Applying and appearing for UG CMAT (conducted by AIMA for IUST) is a pre-requisite for admission to the BBA program.
- The application fee for all programs offered by IUST can be paid through online mode only. No other mode of fee payment is recognized by the university.
- Candidates without a CMAT/ MAT score are also eligible to apply for the MBA program conducted by IUST. Such candidates must take the Institutional MAT of IUST and appear for the GD and PI session conducted at University level.
- Entrance tests for all courses except B. Tech regular and MBA are conducted at the university campus.
- MBA candidates who have successfully cleared the Common Management Admission Test are further evaluated through a Group Discussion session on global current affairs followed by a Personal Interview.
- For admission to BBA, five subjects to be used for calculating qualifying examination points reduced to the base of 40. The subjects include English and best four subjects other than English.
- For admission to B. Tech Food Technology, the five subjects to be used for calculating qualifying examination points reduced to the base of 40 include Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Mathematics, English and best one subject other than the above four.

IUST B.Tech Admission 2024
Islamic University of Science & Technology offers four-year B.Tech degree in 6 specializations. Lateral Entry in B.Tech is also offered by the institute. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to B. Tech courses is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology as the main subjects.
B. Tech regular candidates are evaluated on the basis of in JEE Main (Paper-I) marks and last qualifying exam marks. Lateral Entry candidates are selected through an entrance test conducted by the university.

- Selection of candidates for B. Tech regular programs is done in the following pattern:
- 60% preference to JEE Main (Paper-I) score
- 40% preference to the normalized score of the qualifying exam
- Candidates with Physics, Chemistry and Biology are also eligible to apply for the B. Tech program in Food Technology.
- Candidates securing negative marks in JEE Main (Paper I) are not eligible to apply for the B. Tech programs.
- Appearing in JEE Main (Paper -I) is not a requirement for B.Tech in Food Technology.
- B.Tech Food Technology candidates are selected on the basis of an entrance test conducted by the institute. The test comprises of MCQs based on Physics, Chemistry and Math/ Biology studeied at 10+2 level.
- 02 seats in B.Tech Engineering (Lateral Entry) programs are reserved for the candidates who have passed their qualifying degrees from IUST.
IUST BBA, BA & B.Sc. Admission 2024
The university offers BBA, a BA Honors program in English and a B.Sc. program in Actuarial & Financial Mathematics to students at the UG level. The basic eligibility for admission is 10+2 qualification from a recognized board.
The selection of BBA candidates is done on the basis of Undergraduate Management Aptitude Test (UG MAT), conducted by AIMA. BA English (Hons.) and B.Sc. AFM candidates are selected through entrance test conducted at the University level.

Key Points:
- 01 seat in each UG program is reserved for the wards of permanent Employees of IUST.
- In case of a tie, B.Sc. AFM candidates having higher marks in Mathematics/or Statistics subject at 10+2 level is given preference.
IUST MBA Admission 2024
Islamic University of Science & Technology offers 2-year Regular MBA and MBA in International Business. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks in the last qualifying exam.
Prospective applicants are required to apply and appear for CMAT prior to applying on the university level. Candidates with a valid CMAT score must fill the online application form available at the University’s official website. Candidates are selected on the basis of CMAT score and performance in GD/ PI conducted by the University.

Key Points:
- Selection of candidates for the MBA program is based on the following criteria:
- 60% preference is given to CMAT score
- 40% preference is given to GD and PI.
- In case of a tie in CMAT/ MAT score for MBA admissions, candidates having higher mark in GD/ PI will be given preference. If marks in CMAT/ MAT and marks in GD/ PI are the same, candidate older in age is given admission.
- Appearing in CMAT score is a pre-requisite for MBA program, although not compulsory. Candidates without CMAT score must, however, partake in MAT conducted by IUST for selection purpose.
IUST M.Tech Admission 2024
The university offers an M.Tech program in the discipline of Food Technology with an intake of 8 students. The basic eligibility criteria for is a B. Tech degree in Food Technology with a minimum of 50% marks in the subject.
Selection in M.Tech is done through the entrance test conducted by the university. GATE qualified candidates can also apply for the M. Tech program and are exempted from the university entrance test.

Islamic University of Science & Technology offers M.Sc., MCA and MA courses at the postgraduate level. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant or allied discipline with a minimum of 50% marks. Selection of candidates is based on their performance in the Entrance Exam for the respective courses conducted by the institute.

Key Points:
- Graduates who have studied Mathematics at 10+2 level/ graduation are eligible to apply for the MCA program.
- Candidates who have studied Mathematics/ Statistics/ Applied or Actuarial Mathematics at 10+2 level and/ or graduation are eligible to apply for the M.Sc. Statistics program.
- Candidates holding Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology in Information Technology are eligible for the M.Sc. IT program.
- MA International Relations program has been specifically designed for Mid-career professionals such as lawyers, journalists and NGO workers.
- A minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the last qualifying exam are required to apply for the MA Arabic Language & Literature.
- Candidates with 55% or above marks are eligible to apply for the MA program in Islamic Studies.
IUST Ph.D. Admission 2024
Islamic University of Science & Technology offers Ph.D. programs in 5 disciplines. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.
Selection of candidates for the Ph.D. programs is done on the basis of the applicants’ performance in the entrance test (conducted by the university) followed by a personal interview session.

Note: The intake for Ph.D. courses is determined as per the availability of seats/ supervisors in the Concerned Department/ School. Admission to the Ph.D. programs is conducted twice a year.
IUST Application Process 2024
Candidates can apply for admission to a particular program only through online mode by visiting the University website. Candidates must also ensure his/her eligibility as per the criteria laid down for admission to a particular program. The application process in details is as follows:
- Candidates must log on to the University website and proceed to the Admissions/ Online Application page in order to fill the application form online.
- Candidates interested in Self-Financing / payment category and NRI quota must indicate their choice in the application form.
- After reading the instruction carefully, candidates must click on the “Proceed” button at the bottom of the page.
- Candidates who are filling the application form afresh must click on the link titled “Apply for Under Graduate” or “Apply for Post Graduate” as required, under the “New Applicant” tab.
- “Existing Applicant” can use their already issued Application number to proceed with applying for additional programs as desired.
- All relevant columns in the application form must be filled correctly. The information entered if later found to be fraudulent or incorrect, the candidate with forfeit his/ her candidature.
- Candidates are also required to upload a scanned copy of their passport size colored photograph while filling the application form. The recommended dimension of the photograph is 130x160 pixels (5-200KB, .jpg or .png format).
- In order to qualify for reservation, candidates must specify their caste/ category clearly in the application form.
- Candidates belonging to reserved categories must upload copies of relevant certificates while filling the application form. Applications without the appropriate certificate won’t be considered for reservation.
- Upon successful online submission of the complete application form, the candidate will receive an acknowledgment message mentioning his/ her Name, Applicant No. and Form No. The Applicant number and Form number must be preserved for future references.
- The candidate is required to send a hard copy of the complete Application form along with attested copies of all relevant documents (including category certificate, if applicable) to the Admission Section of the University.
- Candidates applying for courses, the entrance criteria for which is a selection test, will be issued roll numbers after submission of hard copies. Candidates for such programs are required to download their roll numbers/ admit cards from the University website.
- The application fee which amounts to INR 1000 must be paid through online modes only. Bank cards or internet banking may be used for the purpose.
- Candidates must collect the proper receipt of hard copy of the application form and the prospectus at the time of form submission.

Attested photocopies of the following documents must be submitted along with a copy of the complete Application Form:
- State Subject Certificate
- Date of Birth Certificate
- Marks Card of the Qualifying Examination
- JEE Main (Paper-I) / CMAT/MAT /IUST MAT Score Card (if applicable)
- Category Certificate issued by the concerned authorities (if applicable)
- Provisional/ Character Certificate from the institute last attended
- Certificate of Permanent Resident of J&K or of J&K Origin (in case of NRI-sponsored candidate).
Additionally, NRI-sponsored candidates must submit an undertaking on a plain paper in the prescribed format and attach certificate from the bank mentioning NRI account in the name of the sponsor including his/ her current overseas address and phone number.
IUST Reservation Criteria
The university reserves 38% of its total seats for reserved category candidates which are filled on the basis of merit. Also, the reserved category seats are assigned only to J&K candidates/ candidates who have passed the qualifying exam from the State Board or Universities or Institutions. Outside state / Foreign/ NRI quota candidates are not allowed to seek reservation under any circumstance.
